I had a coyote sneak in on me calling and I had a red fox come busting in and jump up on the log I was resting against. Literally right beside me. That goes to show the predators are listening.

After 30 years of turkey hunting in Canada the amount of pressure has multiplied enormously.
I love it more every year even though it’s gotten a lot tougher. I get two every year even so and enjoy it just as much or more than I did when I had the woods to myself. As it’s gotten more difficult I’ve gotten more patience and hunt later into the morning and early afternoon. They gotta move and the hens gotta eat so if they aren’t gobbling I don’t call more then a few clucks and purrs.
Really enjoy your videos Matt. Mostly just refresh my memory but occasionally something new to try. Thanks

This is true. My deer hunting buddy decided after I took a bird on April 2nd, and they were gobbling great 4 to 5 turkeys every morning, that he wanted to try turkey hunting. Well even with me begging him not to use his atv. He acts like he can't hunt anything without it. Well I have not heard a gobble since he has been on our club with that dang 4 wheeler. Iam sharing this video with him tonight. Thanks Matt

    Hey Dale.
I’ve got some horns on my wall but I’m new to turkey hunting and this channel.
This is my first season ever hunting turkey and I’m turning 50 years old this month.
I appreciate your videos and your tips have been helpful to me already. I’m learning and catching up quickly thanks to your advice. 👍🏻

Opening day today, April 15 in Missouri birds were not gobbling at 9 o’clock. I pulled up one of your videos pertaining to that watched it got some much-needed info 1045 killed my personal best turkey 29 pounder 10 1/4 inch beard. Thank you for everything that you’ve taught me. I’ve been an avid turkey hunter for 15 years, but I learn every time I watch one of your videos.

Gotta tell ya bud.. I’ve been doing this a long time myself. Many times waiting at the parked trucks on public land for other hunters to come out of the woods and then going into woods behind them and taking absolute monster Gobblers; often with hens around them by simply toning it down and keeping it simple. Less is more, more often than not on public land. Thank you for your open advice on this channel. I’ve been preaching for many for years the same proven principles that you continue to post. I often get way more excited to guide someone (experienced or not) to a good bird than I do taking one for myself. In Georgia, for some reason it was seemingly easy year after year. Now that I live in Alabama, it’s a little more Challenging. Pressure here is seriously more intense. I love it. Thank you for your content! Keep up the Great work.

I’m hunting exclusively public and I’m dealing with exactly what you’re talking about. I commented the other week on one of your videos because I was super frustrated but the more Ive listened the more your info makes a ton of sense. Also I’m thinking decoys are a no go for pressured turkeys….. your thoughts?

The wife and I are deer hunters, last year decided to seriously hunt turkey. The wife got a 10" longbeard first day sitting quietly and a hen walked up with 2 longbeard and she shot one. No calling at all at 1:30 in the afternoon. Me i had to hunt all week but got one. We didn't count on calling we just patterned the birds . This year opening week we had birds on us all week just no big toms. I think all these hunting shows the guy's are moving all over calling and suddenly here comes big Tom's but in the real world I think you have to know the land, know their patterns and call sparingly. I'm not a seasoned expert turkey hunter be i do know how to hunt. That's just my opinion. Good videos.

I agree with all your short cut thoughts. All true advice. I dont know about this word, "pressure", though. If birds arnt call shy and its a fact you can bust birds up by accident and kill them. Its a fact you can shoot a bird and within same time frame call in another. You can also hunt in some most frequented areas by humans on a property. I noticed on one of your latest videos in tennessee you killed a bird in a blind in some kind of field with a structure in sight. Probably a spot more frequented by humans on the property. Idk that people equal pressure. They are used to it in places. You also said they know your hunting them. I dont believe a bird has that much brains to be honest. Thats alot of credit to them. The idea in turkey hunting if you dont shoot em is not get busted. But i agree with advice on short cuts

This year, while turkey hunting two guys came cruising through in a gas powered side by side. To add insult to injury they stopped to look closely at my hen decoy. They still didn't see me. Fortunately for them I am not a murderous psychopath.

Last weekend was first public hunting weekend here and there was so many idiots driving getting out slamming doors and calling, getting back in driving some more. Im all for passing the sport on but my goodness you got to have better sense then to think you can drive a white truck down a road that's never traveled, get out slam the door and go to calling

Definitely harder to kill but thats what makes em fun , what choice do we have ? before turkey seasons began in NC here, they hadnt been hunted , i live in the timber and messed with them birds for several years. Unlike any turkey hunting i ever saw. If i heard one he always came in if he heard me , it was to easy. First legal season came in my wife killed her first bird right behind the house at first light. They didnt stay stupid long

Bs I believe your Definitely wrong about pressure I called to a gobbler with hens he went and laid down under a lone pine in the field and hid and all the hens fed all around infront of me went into the woods all around me and he got up went down over the hill I got him killed in late season in a ambush lol

@daleoutdoors17 right on I just think ya are wrong about birds are not call shy there is definitely some for sure that are I carry plenty out same as you but when I use to hunt Kentucky for years they had a rule you weren't allowed to be in the woods and call a turkey before the start of season why would that be I like ya plenty and if ya come to pa sometime I would love to fetch ya a turkey or point ya to where there are a few I'm sorry we disagree but I seen what I seen over the years and believe what I saw keep after em

@@frankspataro9714no issues. I hear it all the time they are call shy but I’ve proved it wrong so many times by going in and calling in them “call shy” turkeys everyone said was call shy. I just smile and go on 😊. Putting them call shy turkeys in the freezer
