Feiyue FY03H durability test! Skate Park bash. WLtoys 12428 rival

  • The Feiyue FY03H is a serious bit of kit for the money. I didn't brake any part of the chassis, and only damaged the spur due to the motor moving. Awesome cheap RC truck, loads of fun and well worth the money.

    Bear in mind this has the same Chassis as the JJRC Q39 & the WLtoys 12428. I will do a video soon with all 3 and comparing them.

      Hey Jake Billing, I bought the same one for my 5 yr olds birthday and the drive power stops working when it lands from small jumps or when we try to make it slowly climb obstacles and I have to turn it off then on again. Any thoughts on this?

    Thanks for the video. It helped me. I’m going to try a 3S. Had mine a year, found some 2700mah 2S that just barely fit, added oil filled shocks and plugged the wheel vent holes for running in sand. And beat the snot out of this thing, bent the body some and lost a front light cover, but that’s it for damage. I run it flat out all the time in sand and rocks at our beach. It has been swimming in the Pacific Ocean more times than I’d like to admit. At $99.00 it is the absolute best bang for the buck. I am now actually tiring to break it, but still can’t get it to break. Straight into boulders it just bends the hood up a bit, but nothing breaks. Out of 40 RCs I grab this one most for fun..

    • @modelnutty6503
      @modelnutty6503 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      picked up a Virhuck V-01 when they were 42 bucks on eBay, is 390 powered with the aluminum panels, at that price can't go wrong at all. I cut 1.5 turns off the shock springs, flattened new ends, round servo grommets sliced to make oil seals. better+taller tires/rims and a 10t pinion turning it into a trail crawler/bouncer. the steering rod moved in on the servo arm for more torque, a little less throw, filled all the light buckets with 5mm LED too. it's a great little budget beast for this.
      as a car they roll+flip if you look at them sideways, they're just top heavy with a LOT of travel. even 390 powered, too fast for its own good. with softened suspension it sits about 3/32" lower with pretty good/easy flex, really strong for climbing crawling and bouncing. 10t pinion top speed about 9mph and it'll do it in about 12-13 feet, so little jumps can happen without needing much space. IMHO, these are much better suited for crawling/bouncing than fast dirt play and hard bashing.
      parts are all so similar between the 12428 and it's clones, some parts the WLtoys are a little softer plastic is only difference, but the Feiyue and Virhuck DO have metal gear diffs and ball bearings everywhere, may be the better choice to start with even though they have a smaller motor. going crawl/bounce direction with them the smaller motor isn't an issue at all, small pinion giving oodles of torque, long run time, and much nicer to the kinda wimpy stock brushed motor ESC. WLtoys with its 540 motor, same ESC, trying to impress people with FAST... can thermal shut down, low voltage shut down, or burn up! plenty of reviews showing those things happening, so I'm kinda less impressed.
      idk if the JJRC clone has metal diffs in it or not, or the full ball bearing set in stock/standard form like the Feiyue and Virhuck do.

    • @ilovejazz3s
      @ilovejazz3s 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the info! I was planning to replace the motor anyway, so that’s not a big concern. I want to make sure that whatever I get can be upgraded with metal control arms and suspension components - I know the kits fit the WL, but am not sure if they will fit some of the others. I want this for fast dirt bashing and am not afraid to upgrade everything, maybe a different chassis would be a better choice but I just love how these look.

    I´ve read quite a few comments recently on various channels from people who believe that the only RC cars worth buying are those from established hobby-grade-only manufacturers. These commenters feel that all other brands´ products are too fragile for real-world bashing - I´d love to send each and every one of them the link to this video! A couple of screws and a nut did loosen, but not a single plastic part snapped in that...er...rigorous durability test.
    Incidentally, I noticed that you´re skilled in the use of the torque reaction from spinning up or slowing the car´s wheels to control pitch when the vehicle´s in the air. I thought you might like to know that Tom Stanton posted an interesting video yesterday, in which he explored the idea of using precisely-controlled flywheels to control pitch and yaw on a drone. Have a good weekend : )

    • @TomleyRC
      @TomleyRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I always look forward to comments from 'hobby grade' experts, they base all their opinions on cost, and it makes no difference if you suggest that you can buy all the spares for these....and upgrades. I've learnt a lot over the last 12 months on how to control them in the air, I think it was my Arrma Outcast that taught me the basics. In this video I had both hands, but quite often it's one handed...which is a lot harder haha...getting better all the time! I was out with new WLtoys today, short wheelbase, and not very stable....that thing would not land on it's wheels!

    • @Del350K4
      @Del350K4 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TomleyRC I remember I once bolted a hollow hard plastic spare wheel to the cab roof of my Mini Trophy - it added almost no weight up high, being a fake wheel, but when the truck rolled it made the thing far more likely to keep rolling and end up on its wheels, which made me like driving it a great deal more.

    • @luisw3406
      @luisw3406 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Del350K4 I've said this many times before you get what you pay for and do I consider this little buggy a hobby grade... No. Fun yes most of these (toys) usely don't come available with the option to up grade. Not saying this wltoys didn't but most of these cheap toys are just that. This one impress me by it's durability which it cool by me for it's tag of $119 USD it's not to bad.

    • @Del350K4
      @Del350K4 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@luisw3406 I see what you mean about most toy-grade RC cars not having spares backup or upgrade potential. This is perhaps something of an exception from that point of view.
      Having said that, I bought an HPI Mini Trophy and I still love it, but I rarely dare drive it because HPI have stopped supplying spares for them. I do feel that if the hobby grade manufacturers can´t be trusted to provide parts support then there´s less reason for us to limit ourselves to buying exclusively their products.

      two little round neoprene/rubber servo grommets, put them on a small screwdriver shaft, carefully slice the smaller tube section out of the center. the 2 buttons it gives are perfect oil seals for the stock shocks, install them flat side up (wet!) with the threaded aluminum cups just decently finger snug. rear shocks are good with 10-40w motor oil, fronts want about 80wt gear oil for being so much shorter with stiffer springs. I can drop mine 18" and no bouncing at all. they're made for oil filling, they just didn't bother to give them seals!

      My GPS device is in Km/h....and when I used to do speed runs in a little friendly competition it was more accurate as the increments on 1 km/h are more often than 1 mph, every km/h counts! And I haven't bothered to change it, I may do though, as we are MPH...and most of my viewers are from the US...who also use it. Or maybe I'll just start speaking French haha.... au revoir
      😂

      @@TomleyRC , that's fair enough, I just thought it odd hearing an English accent mentioning kmh.
      Look forward to the next vid!
