Could the crm link be called from within a crm portal? So clients can access their prefilled order forms on press of a button? If that is not the case, is there a workaround for this problem? Currently you can only get access through mail...

The upsert integration is only partially useful, as it does not factor entities in leads AND contacts. This, if the entity is already a client (in contacts) and the form pushes them to leads, then you'll end up with a duplicate for the same person, one as a lead and one as a contact.
The work around is to write a custom function.
