BTS Shine Spotlight on the United Nations as Envoys of the President of the Republic of Korea

- BTS, the global sensation behind “Permission to Dance” and other megahits, brought their spotlight to the United Nations as the Republic of Korea’s Special Presidential Envoys for Future Generations and Culture.
BTS members RM, Jin, Suga, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook participated in the UN’s SDG Moment, designed to call attention to the Sustainable Development Goals. The BTS members, along with the President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in, spoke with the UN’s Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications, Melissa Fleming, about their commitment to helping advance progress through the United Nations.
The SDGs are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy health, peace and prosperity.

Hmmm not sure if this is just worded weirdly but theres nothing to humble yourself with speaking your native language. In fact, hes probably even more proud that hes able to speak korean in this interview.

How is that humbling himself? He's a proud native South Korean, speaking his native language, while doing his job as an ambassador/diplomat of South Korea. There's absolutely *no* reason for Ambassador Kim to speak English, while on duty, any more than there's a reason for him to speak Spanish or Japanese (just because he *can*) while representing S. Korea.
I'm sure that when he is traveling as RM of BTS on a work visa with his regular passport, he will continue to do as the band has done in the past and speak the language of those with whom they are visiting, as much as they are able to.
I still can't believe how some uneducated people hate these pure souls...

I just loved how the South Korean president instead of just boasting his glories, acknowledged what else needs to be done. This is the attitude that made this country grow so much.

I thought the same - you don't often see leaders talking about their country's issues. It's usually just the wins and positives. I really liked what he had to say.
Now that’s the kind of president every country needs

I was really impressed with President Moon's statements, especially how he not only did not shy away from his nation's problems, but recited them more than once. Hopefully, he is able to lead his country in making progress on the issues of opportunity and inequality that are problems for all countries.

It seems like S Korea is not hiding or ashamed to show or share their weakness or problems they are facing. It shows not only in the president Moon's answer but also it's been expressed and pointed out thru movies, dramas and BTS' music. It is very different than what some of other countries have been doing, covering ups or making excuses about their problems. They are very open and transparent.
