There was a story in Afghanistan where friendly forces were being ambushed and needed air support but the only aircraft in the area were out of munitions and so a F-16 decided to use its sonic boom to hit the area where the enemy was and the sonic boom scared them off long enough for the troops on the ground were able to get out of the area.

Using kinetic energy to kill as a munitionless attack isnt a bad idea. But in practice doesnt work because you'd have to get so close to make something like that even work.
Good point, high caliber round can kill a dear without hitting it, but only if it's close to its head or chest(changes with even larger calibers ofc) however a bullet disrupts much more air proportionately due to the compared velocity, weight, AND DISTANCE TO TARGET IMPACT!
