An interesting idea would be to use two tortillas. One on the bottom, covered with ingredients then one on top. You can probably wet the edges of the tortillas and press them together with the tines of your fork to seal them. Then it's just a matter of flipping it after a few minutes in the pan and both sides will be cooked evenly.
This recipe looks amazing. I can't begin to understand why 6 people chose to click the thumbs down. I liked everything about this video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanx for sharing this i wouldn't have thought to make a pizza in the woods but now I see it can be done congrats to the winner and his idea stay safe matt and God bless c ya in the next one
I've done this a couple times with my camp/ Dutch oven. Use the lid for the base and bottom goes on top. My favorite two are! Canadian Bacon and Pineapple! Pepperoni and anchovies! Simple and Easy! Thank You
The pineapple gives pizza a Hawaiian touch! I will look for those little crusts…just right to fit in the PF skillet. The grill is a nice addition, too.
Matt, always enjoy watching you video's. They are top quality, I very much appreciate you giving thanks & blessing the meal before eating. Additional, I agree with you regarding pineapple on pizza. No one in my house would eat it except me. I like to add jalapeno peppers along with dried tomatoes, mushrooms, olives and onions. Keep up the good work, it matters.
Absoutley awesome .. I already have everything except those crust ,, even the pineapple in single serve bowls ,, I was planning on experimenting this weekend .. now I know it’s doable! Thanks Matt and Chris
As someone who’s 1st job was a pizza maker and living in a Italian household I know a thing or two about pizzas. Less sauce makes it easier to make. I like both recipes. Using a skillet for making pizza is genius! I thought you was gonna use the 120 oz or 64 oz busy pot as the oven. Great video Matt.
Don't know if you've done this one but I have a recipe for spam hash that's great for breakfast and not too hard to carry into the woods, if you'd like that one.
Great video. You could try some aluminum foil and or parchment paper and a little corn meal under the pizza to prevent sticking and make foe easy cleanup. Aluminum foil hanging over lid may be a alternative to coals on the lid to direct heat to top of pan.
If you put some tabasco on top or Tapatio salsa and roll it like a taco then you can hold it in your hand and eat it easier. Thank you for this recipe.
Perfect timing, Matt. Just yesterday I wondering how I could make pizza at camp. I was thinking I'd have to invest some serious coin on some kind of camp oven. But not any more. Thanks for sharing. And thanks also to Chris, for the idea.
I do this at home anytime I'm in the mood for a quick pizza. To get a crispy crust, just boost the heat a bit under the pan and brush the pan with a touch of oil before dropping in the tortilla. At home, I'll just heat the pan top for 15 sec on a burner before covering. Cook 5 min on medium low and you're snacking like a king.
Fun recipe, I would probably crisp the tortilla slightly before the sauce is added so it’s less likely to soak through when cooking. Great ideas though! By the way… eat whatever you want on a pizza, the dough is merely a vessel for anything you want to put on it.
Love the idea, and love the pineapple! Maybe try using a little olive oil in the skillet and it will crisp up the crust some. Works in the oven, so why not the skillet. Either way that might be my next dinner in the woods
I tried the same thing with My Trangia on Low with the Pathfinder skillet, and wiped the inside of the pan with oil. I tried NAN Bread, thinking it was thicker so, Fail. It was a big fail. Burned on the bottom before the cheese melted. Guess I needed the coals on the lid, which is what I thought I might need. Then tried a tortilla another failed attempt. Secret has to be coals on top. Better yet, Just use the New Grill. Keep the pan clean. Thanks Matt
If your cooking with a good bed of coals ( without the updraft of a flame) you could get a piece of aluminum larger than the pot, ball it up then upen it so it covers the pot but overhangs it. This will direct heat to the top of the pot. Crinkled surface will help with airflow and a hole on the center may increase the flow of heat
The crust is better for making it a pizza, but I'd still go with the tortilla things, which I have used to make a sort of sandwich like wrap, cooked over the fire before. They do grill nice on a grill instead of in a skillet. And I prefer to get the _spinach_ tortillas, personally. I have a thing about spinach, plus it is something different. I think the brand I get is Dempster's.
1/4 cup garlic/ 1/4 onion , half cup spaghetti sauce, half box of spaghetti, sausage, salt and pepper as desired, parsley, just a pinch. Meat of choice, mozzarella or American cheese. Phenomenal 😀don't forget to paste the pan. Tortilla first. That's a given 😁 cook for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove and viola!
The mini pizza crusts were a great find. I,ll look for them at my grocers. The tortillas as a crust never sounded good to me. You gave me an idea for a DIY oven that would work great for this kind of pizza and probably biscuits as well. If you are aware of the tins of Danish Butter Shortbread Cookies that come out around this time of year in round metal tins, think of using the tin the way you used the skillet. Inverting the lid would hold the coals and keep them from falling on the pizza and a ceramic floor tile could probably be shaped well enough to set in the bottom to add some mass and prevent burning the crust. What'cha think? Would it work, based on your experience doing this video?
Instead of cutting up you cheese sticks, they can be torn lengthwise (kinda like shredded cheese). Also to make a crisper crust, reverse how the ingredients are placed on the bread. First, put the cheese on the bread. Then the toppings. Finally the pizza sauce. I also like to fold the pizza in half and eat it like a taco;
You can crisp the bottom in a thin layer of oil as you assemble the toppings. Then just throw coals on the lid and remove the skillet from the heat underneath
Hot oil. It's similar to how I make a cast iron pizza on the stove top while I assemble the toppings. Then finish for 6 mins in the oven at 500 degrees. You'll get perfect crisp, leopard spotted crust.
Those little cans of tomato sauce work great with a little garlic powder and oregano. And I was wondering why not put the pizza directly on the grill and using the skillet as a reflector over the top?
Something you can do with the flour tortilla and that skillet (I love mine, by the way), is make what's called a flammkuchen. It's a thin flatbread type dish originating from both sides of the French/German border. For toppings, cut cooked bacon into small chunks, then add sliced onion circles and caraway seeds (optional) on top of a thin layer of Creme Fraiche that has been mixed with nutmeg, salt, black pepper, and optionally an egg yolk. The sauce should look like the color ivory. Shredded cheese is optional, and is best placed at the first topping layer. Bake until the crust and onions are crispy and the edges are brown but not burnt. If you can't find Creme Fraiche, you can substitute with sour cream or make it yourself. To make it yourself, take 16 oz of heavy cream, mix it with 1 oz of cultured buttermilk, cover the container then let it sit on your kitchen counter for 12 hours at room temperature to ferment. It will keep for up to 14 days in the refrigerator. It's lighter and less sour than the sour cream you can find in a grocery store, and easier to spread on the tortilla or flatbread.
No No No! If you put on pineapple, put on the little bits of ham. It's not Hawaiian pizza without them pieces of ham to go with the pineapple. Yeah... I don't like as _only_ pepperoni and pineapple.
Not only is it pizza but it's pizza in the woods!!!!! You'd have to put evil effort into making that NOT enjoyable! ...unless you have a pineapple, artichoke or anchovies conflict... Ham and bacon on mine!
Now that is worth trying
Quesadilla!! I do them on my stove top in a cast iron skillet.
Calzone
You could have just folded your first pizza into a calzone.
Yes, I was going to suggest that also.
Mmmmmmm....... Pizza!
Love it.
Throw in some green pepper, onion…..yum! Love the grill and pan! Need to place an order.
Great video...and always good to see 👀 people giving thanks...keep up the good work 💪
How can you not think of making pizza in the woods? LOL That's like a Scout must have !!!! Been doing it for years . Nice job Matt !!
This is something I need to try with my kids. Thanks for the idea.
Great cook. No hater here. The really nice thing about pizza, you can do anything you want with it.
You can make pizza on a rock over a fire if you want it bad enough. Yes even a bad pizza is still pizza. Have fun on your outings and stay safe.
Yes, everybody love a good pizza, especially _The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!_ LOL 😜
This recipe looks amazing. I can't begin to understand why 6 people chose to click the thumbs down. I liked everything about this video. Thanks for sharing.
looking forward to Matt's favorite outdoor recipes cookbook
I would try Naan bread. I love that stuff.
That's what I use. Fold it and make a calzone!
Yum,pineapple and Canadian bacon pizza,love it!👍
Loving it - well done.
Thanx for sharing this i wouldn't have thought to make a pizza in the woods but now I see it can be done congrats to the winner and his idea stay safe matt and God bless c ya in the next one
Enjoying this series of camp cooking - tanks for doing these and sharing these recipes!
Great video thanks for your time. Congrats to the winner
You make things funny while learning
The only thing missing from that second pizza is some jalapeños and some extra cheese. That will take it up that extra notch
Pineapple? Ooh yea, fantastic flavor mix. ABSOLUTELY worth doing!!
Coined the phrase "Pathfinder Pizza"👌
I've done this a couple times with my camp/ Dutch oven. Use the lid for the base and bottom goes on top. My favorite two are!
Canadian Bacon and Pineapple!
Pepperoni and anchovies! Simple and Easy!
Thank You
so I have a new pizza topping to try I love ham and pineapple so I look forward to trying this great series and video
Enjoying this series a lot! Yes Pizza or two ... going to ignore that other ingredient on the second one .. lol 🍕
That was a cool idea. I think I need to try this. I'm in the woods now and would love a pizza. Great stuff.
Now I'm hungry, cool little grill, congratulations to the winner.
Pineapple -yes!
The pineapple gives pizza a Hawaiian touch! I will look for those little crusts…just right to fit in the PF skillet. The grill is a nice addition, too.

We should’ve picked up some kindling, 🤣. Awesome video, can’t wait to try. 😋
I've cooked biscuits in my Pathfinder skillet in much the same way. I usually load up the lid pretty heavy with coals to get more top heat.
Cool Video 👍
Thank U for the Info and the Links 👍
Love the pan and the Grill a must have
1000 Points for the Video
0 Points for making me hungry
Looks delicious
This recipe sounds great, and it’ll be a real treat to try it out! I have never thought of making this at camp! Can’t wait to try it😁😁👍👍👏👏

Though the cooking style is very basic, I enjoy watching your videos.
I use the little cans of Hunt's sauce (found in with the diced or crushed tomatoes) with a little bit of doctoring, then I use Naan bread.
Ham and pineapple with bell pepper onion and mushrooms
Don't know if you've done this one but I have a recipe for spam hash that's great for breakfast and not too hard to carry into the woods, if you'd like that one.
Going to try this on my hunting trip
And GARLIC!! 🧄

Really enjoying this series Matt! Keep'em coming please 🤠 ps I already ordered the new grill.
If you put some tabasco on top or Tapatio salsa and roll it like a taco then you can hold it in your hand and eat it easier. Thank you for this recipe.
I love pineapple on my pizza. Although I've never had in with pepperoni. I'll definitely be giving this a go!
The Coghlan Pack grill has been my go to for years now. Twice the cooking surface and over half the weight as compared to the new Pathfinder grill
Perfect timing, Matt. Just yesterday I wondering how I could make pizza at camp. I was thinking I'd have to invest some serious coin on some kind of camp oven. But not any more. Thanks for sharing. And thanks also to Chris, for the idea.

Good idea, will give it a try.
You could also bake it in the bush pot sideways and a grate inside.
Love pineapple on pizza!
Pizza on bagels is Good too
🍕👍

For crust I use Naan bread cus I like a soft crust.
Cut a circle from an unglazed clay flower pot base to fit inside the skillet. Voila, instant pizza stone.
Roll it up like a burrito

Hey Matt when you going to make more videos on your channel
Instead of cutting up you cheese sticks, they can be torn lengthwise (kinda like shredded cheese). Also to make a crisper crust, reverse how the ingredients are placed on the bread. Only a Pathfinder would say, "I'm building a fire, good thing it rained."
After the top is melted would you be able to slide the pizza directly on the grill to help crisp up the crust?
Those little cans of tomato sauce work great with a little garlic powder and oregano.
And I was wondering why not put the pizza directly on the grill and using the skillet as a reflector over the top?
If Sean Kelly was there it would have bacon all over the top of
this recipe is on a tv cooking show
You can also use Pita Bread for a crust.

it's a whole lot better if you heat up the tortilla before adding the sauce.
a little oil and cooking a little before doing topping makes it crispier
Bacon makes a great pizza topping.
Bacon makes a great EVERYTHING topping. :)
@@michaeldean4704 … as we learned many times from the Corporal… Bacon AF! 😋👍🥓🥓🥓
@@jimpublic Personally, I like bacon wrapped bacon.
Add a sprinkle of Italian seasoning before cooking - you'll thank me ;-)
could you fold the crust in half and do 2 at at time...calzones?
Good idea.
Do a Calzone with the tortilia style! Boomer Sooner.
So how do we send in a camp cook recipe
Pineapple is fantastic
Haters: “Pineapple? Yuck. Fruit should never be on a pizza.”
The rest of us: “Psst. Have fun without pizza sauce. What do you think tomatoes are?”
I've made pizza in the Dutch oven
You could cook it right on the grill
Only thing that would of made that pizza outstanding AF would’ve been bacon
Not hating but I m a little jealous
Chris, congrats on the gear.... Matt, RUDE, very rude...
First you tell me to bight it then pineapple on a Fin pizza , NO SIR NO
No No No! If you put on pineapple, put on the little bits of ham. It's not Hawaiian pizza without them pieces of ham to go with the pineapple. Yeah... I don't like as _only_ pepperoni and pineapple.
Did you wash your hands?
