Thanks Matt for doing my recipe. I totally agree about the gravy being too thin. My instructions didn't address this properly. My apologies. I actually mix the gravy separately in a collapsible cup and add the potatoes to the pot. The potatoes absorb the water where as the gravy is too thin the other way. But hey trial and error is how we learn. Thanks for being a great outdoors man and cook. Looking forward to the next recipe.
Not your fault brother! I actually followed the measurements on the gravy pack of powder to water. Other than appearance, the flavor wasn't compromised. I appreciate you submitting this one and I will definitely use it again. I want to experiment with some additional ingredients as well. A good recipe like this offers lots of flexibility and is a good one to know! Merry Christmas to you and yours Randy!
One pot turkey dinner serves one: 1/4 cup inst. potatoes, 1/4 cup cornbread stuffing mix, 1/2 pkg. turkey gravy packet, dehydrated cranberries, turkey jerky and fried onions. Place all ingredients in your pot/plate except onions. Add boiling water and mix well. Keep adding water until you get the consistency you desire. . Sprinkle the onion on top and your good to go.
This one looked good and ive always got a John Wayne from my marine corps days to open cans and it dont get easier than this i dont believe and its all lite weight and just add hot water mix and eat up thanx for this one and congrats to the winner of this one
I had to try this with a slight twist .. I used baby reds , added a can of mushrooms and baked some biscuits to pile it all on .. to copy Dave … Oh Man! This is good. I m sure it would have even better cooked outside ,, weather this afternoon isn’t being cooperative enough to do that .. nevertheless I have a satisfied stomach and thank you Matt for introducing me to the sweet and smoky spice .. and Thank you Sir for sharing the recipe .. hope you enjoy your new pathfinder cookware goodies
So many people said the gravy was too thin...for sure it was! I did however follow the exact measurements recommended. I hadn't used that particular gravy packet before but in the future, I would definitely cut the water to half the recommendation. It definitely tasted good despite the consistency.
Loved this simple but tasty looking meal. Go forward with that can opener, not backwards. It’s the way it’s designed to be used. You will use much less energy to 👍👍
Nice simple recipe .. thanks. Perhaps a bit too much water for the Gravy .. or .. add the Mash Potato to the Gravy mix and enjoy it as a nice hot Soup. A SAK Can Opener cuts forward. Good reminder on 'Water into Pot' Protocol 👍. I get the heebies watching 'experienced' Bush Crafters putting an empty Pot onto a heat source and then only adding the Water / Whatever thereafter. Adding Ingredients .. Pot comes OFF the Cooker. Stirring .. Pot is held / supported with the other hand. Experience is an excellent Tutor. Take care ..
Matt where can we send the recipes to for consideration? Thanks for the video and for sharing a new recipe and for your commitment to the community and to SRO and the PFS.
I love the Idahoan mash potato mix! But these days my grocery stores don't have it the way I love to buy them. I used to get the box with one big bag of the mix of regular potato mix. Now I can only get the ones that are packs of 2 bags which are one meal for each pack and are flavored stuff. Don't get me wrong, I do like them too, but I prefer to spend less on the big bag that gives more meals from the one bag of the regular stuff.
Great recipe that I want to try myself now. I'm also curious about the particular fuel bottle featured in the video, can you give more information about it?
Matt, thank you for sharing this video, i enjoy seeing other easy to fix recipes, keep' em coming. BTW i was wondering where did you get your jacket that you wore in this video, i would like to get one. take care, stay healthy an God bless you and your Family always...
Eh, I would either reduce the 'gravy' to be thicker or don't put it in the water until after the chicken and corn is heated and then remove those from the water and then get rid of the excess water then add the gravy and cook until thicker. Otherwise, you're just pouring gravy flavored water over the potatoes.
Yeah, the gravy turned out thin. I followed the directions on the pack and the recipe as it was presented. It was my first time using that gravy packet but if I use it again I would cut the water in half. It still tasted good however so I went with it.
I followed the recommendation on the pack. I had never used that one before. It was thin for sure but tasted good. If I use it again in the future I would cut the directions on the pack to half and add water as needed. Raccoon prepared right is fine by me as well.

Awesome recipe Randy thanks for submitting it. I will definitely have to try this on my next backpacking trip.

I thought I was the only one that likes sweet corn and mashed potatoes. I've mixed them together since I was in single digits. Awesome job.

Good looking camp meal , thanks for sharing , God bless !
Man this started out humble but ended up gourmet. I'll have to try this one.

So many people said the gravy was too thin...for sure it was! I did however follow the exact measurements recommended. I hadn't used that particular gravy packet before but in the future, I would definitely cut the water to half the recommendation. It definitely tasted good despite the consistency.
Another great looking meal Matt! Love the simple ingredients 🤠
Im hungry now!!! Great job
It is very similar to a KFC bowl. Looked good.
Great stuff Matt 👏
Thanks, Matt. As always, an outstanding job, and useful information. I will be trying this recipe out is the bush.

Yep .. the SAK Can Opener cuts forwards.
Awesome video Matt, can't wait to see what meal you pick next time
Thank you Peter! I appreciate you tuning in!
Thanks for sharing! I just emailed you a recipe. 😄
Nice simple recipe .. thanks.

This meal is a modified shepards pie. Looks good to me. Have a good day and be safe.
now I'm hungry
That looked tasty. The gravy looked a little thin but otherwise it added some flavor to accompany the potatoes and corn. Good one for a cold day.
bacon bitts might be nice

great looking meal but a small tip.: you are useing the SAK can opener in reverse you need to go forward
Great recipe that I want to try myself now. I'm also curious about the particular fuel bottle featured in the video, can you give more information about it?
6:15 the canopener of the swiss army knife should be used in a forward motion, makes it much easier.
That was almost painful to watch! LOL
Try to use the SAK Can-Opener forward. Saving time, by opening cans. cu...
And the edges come out less jagged
Are the recipes posted in document form somewhere? Definitely want to try some.
Gravy was a little thin there bro, but still a good meal I will be trying it. I bought the whole set I like it.
Matt, thank you for sharing this video, i enjoy seeing other easy to fix recipes, keep' em coming. BTW i was wondering where did you get your jacket that you wore in this video, i would like to get one. take care, stay healthy an God bless you and your Family always...

@@azhomeboy2000 thank you.
Add a pinch of salt to the rim of the stove it helps the flame to be more visible
Matt, have you ever seen lotus root in any of the supermarkets near you? If so, I’d submit a unique Japanese menu that you’d probably enjoy.
I don't believe we have that around here but I will keep and eye out now that you mention it Scott :)
Matt, great 👍 video. Does Pathfinder sell the fuel bottle ??
Amazon has the red ones from Trangia, 300, 500 and 1000 ml
Is there any reason you're using the SAK can opener backwards?
Can't forget the cheese. Lol
For a minute there I thought you were going to cook that trash panda.
Where did you get that jacket?
Perseverance survival jacket
Where can I get a jacket like you're wearing?

@@blackhatbushcraft glad to hear.
I know some of your Pathfinder colleagues wish they were eating that raccoon! LOL
Great video, camp cooking porn. One of my favorites is fried corn with either salt pork or hog jawl
Iam sure all that food has bad oils in them. But if starving will work.
Well after seeing your finished product I think the raccoon would have been better. That wasn't gravy, it was barely broth.
I followed the recommendation on the pack. I had never used that one before. It was thin for sure but tasted good. If I use it again in the future I would cut the directions on the pack to half and add water as needed. Raccoon prepared right is fine by me as well.
Food porn shot!!
Waaaaaay to much water for that gravy packet
I agree however I only followed the instructions on the pack. It was thin but the flavor was good.
