Just a bit of a tip: if you don't want to have to restore your headlights every few months, you can use a sealant or wax (Meguiar's M21 or Ultimate Wax work well) after restoring (or before the lights ever get cloudy) to protect them. Doing this to the headlights will protect them just like wax protects your paint. I have found the Meguiar's headlight protectant to be near-worthless, and using the aforementioned sealants, I have yet to need to re-restore any headlight, even on cars that are parked outside in the Arizona sun on a daily basis.
i just this afternoon used this on a 2012 Camry that sits in the sun every day and the headlights were trash. this literally took less than 5 minutes and next to no effort and the headlights look like new. i was shocked how well it worked. ten i bought the 3M headlight sealer (like moist towelettes), rubbed the towelettes over the lenses and now supposedly sealed the deal. i am very satisfied with this product.
I just used this product on my headlights and it works great. It's like night and day. It's simple, fast and effective. I highly recommend it. Great job on the vid.
Just used it 10 minutes ago. Absolutely agree. Amazing results. Minimal effort. 10 year old Mustang. In the direct sun daily, removed 10 years of haze. Clear!
Dude, THANK YOU! Just tried it and it worked like a charm. edit: About 2.5 months later the headlights are once again a little cloudy looking, despite coating it with a quality wax twice during that time. I guess it doesn't last that long and I will have to add this procedure every 2 months or so.
Just used this a couple of times on my Brother's 99 civic. The headlights were yellow and completely fogged over. They look like brand new; one more so than the other (I think 1 headlight is newer than the other) but still awesome results!
I enjoyed ur videos sometimes i also try different waxes but always come back to meguiars they have a wax # .26 it's awesome but it's like 11dollars again thanks
I tried that cuz I watch a video like you post a long time ago I just did it within this week and my headlights look amazing your brand-new no I was going to have to spend $200 on headlights for my car and now I spent $7 and now they got brand new headlights
Jeremy DeMoura I have loads of different videos showing all sorts of car products. I just got a whole box of car cleaning items in from Turtle wax, excited to get to try that out!
Jeremy DeMoura yah those darn words...trying to get it out on camera and that's the time you slip up, never have issues otherwise! This stuff saves your lights 1st class, also remember to pick up the UV protectant stuff I showed at the end as well, its normally right next to the plastic X. It will clear your headlights even more and Protect them for about a month!
Jose Semino the UV stuff meguiars sells that I shoed is only a few bucks, as long as people have something to protect their headlights after they restore them, its all good.
Thanks for the Video I just did my speedometer which is clear plastic today, The car I bought was really bad scratch's , It worked pretty good and I did multiple applications. and being 0 degree outside. I also did my headlights (they also had bad scratch) and the direction said find a cool spot (a Winter $ Snow Lol) and it worked ok.
+Acc0rd79 There is a special clear coat spray paint for the plastic headlight lens. It provides permanent UV protection. You can gently wet sand between coats. Chris Fix has a nice You Tube video with some good info and some hints on techniques for getting the best results. I am going to try it on my Volvo because I am tired of putting the protectorant on the lenses every month; California sun is just like Florida sun plus the ozone eats the plastic too.
Thanks for the info, will try this on Polaris Ranger, Lexan windshield. it's really yellowed and etched. Will try by hand and if need to will use orbital sander.
***** yah after you use their heavy duty headlight resto kit, they just said you need to use this and their UV protectant every month or two to keep them crystal clear! But for light oxidization, you wouldn't need the sand paper.
I picked up the heavy duty kit for my old truck but will be using the drill ball and the plastX on my new cars headlights and keeping them sealed. Ever thought of using a 3" pad on your DA with the plastX?
I used this product on a 2011 infinity g37x. I wasn't that impressed because I thought it would work better. Maybe I have to give it a third hand or so. I'm going to wash headlights and try again. Thing is I had bought this product before I discovered the video on TH-cam a year later. I will update again.
I can't believe people still use toothpaste and toothbrush or go and pay $50 for restorations instead of using this one for $6. That UV rays stuff doesn't work though, it has zero effect for longevity. I might try using a car paint sealant like c-quartz or sonax polymer netshield next time. I apply the Meguiars Plastx by squeezing a line horizontally over the headlight, spread it with the finger and cover entire headlight with it, let it soak in for 2-3 minutes than buff it with microfiber towel. This stuff is just as good as the restoration kits for 1/5 the price and 1/10 the effort.
Rear lights are designed to scatter the light, which is why the red and orange covers don't look clear. Front lights are designed to shine light directly onto road.
I have a diecast model 1:18 scale car that I bought from someone. Its obviously been displayed in the sunlight by its previous owner, hence the cloudy windscreen. Would this product do the same with a much smaller car?
If you use 1000 grit sandpaper and water and sand your headlights before you put on the McGuire's headlights cleaner it will be done in no time and the lights will new.☺️
+RanGer498 The problem is, this isn't a permanent fix, that product wears off over time like a wax does so it needs to be constantly reapplied maybe once a month.
Has anyone tried this product on a Double Din Radio Screen that may have a light Scratch in it? Have a light scratch in my Kenwood Screen and have no idea what to use on it. I don’t think there is a You Tube Video that deals with the issue.
I think the plastic is actually made for the plastic vs the compound that is made to cut through paint. But I do understand where you are coming from, I have seen many pros use compounds and polish to get all of the nasty junk off.
gil zur make sure you use a microfiber or something with a bit of grit to really dig in. If your headlights are bad, I highly suggest you buy the meguiars heavy duty headlight resto kit. That comes with the sand paper and everything to really get the haze out! :)
***** as far as I can tell it just removes it. Once its clear you do need to protect your headlights or it will start to do it all over again in a few months. That's why I showed their other product toward the end that help prevent it with regular use.
i have meguairs how the f do spell it again? anyway... i have the meguairs polishing compound but im too lazy to go to the store to get the meguiars platsx, does the polishing compound works?
eddie lewis back in the day my headlights were horribly fogged over, I bought the whole kit to get in there with the sand paper and that cleared out the hard stuff. Then you just apply this every month or two to maintain them!
Stop saying "what I am going to do is"; or, "what is going to happen is". If you just drop those phrases it will be a lot better. It's a lot like when some people say over and over. You know what I mean? It is not Oxi di zation. It's Oxi dation. I still gave you a thumbs up because it is a great video. Nice job. Lots of good information
Starts to yellow the following day as it's exposed to more sun! It removes any remaining original uv coating that was there. Clear coating is the best way to prolong results. McGuire's sells a spray on coating that helps with uv. Sooner or later you're gonna need to buy new headlights as this stuff is just a temporary fix!?
Just a bit of a tip: if you don't want to have to restore your headlights every few months, you can use a sealant or wax (Meguiar's M21 or Ultimate Wax work well) after restoring (or before the lights ever get cloudy) to protect them. How often do those sealants need to be reapplies to the headlights?
@@tomcastillo7550 I reapply once every few months, same time as when I re-coat my cars.
Will the sealants stay after car washing?
@@the-vinhvo2549 They do for a month or two, that's when I recoat.
Sounds good, how do you apply it? Is it just with a cloth or do you buff it up with a machine after? Cheers.
I used it to clean the clear plastic on my speedometer and it made that nice and scratch free.
+lilantphoto awesome, I never thought about that!
Nice idea !
i just this afternoon used this on a 2012 Camry that sits in the sun every day and the headlights were trash. this literally took less than 5 minutes and next to no effort and the headlights look like new. i was shocked how well it worked. ten i bought the 3M headlight sealer (like moist towelettes), rubbed the towelettes over the lenses and now supposedly sealed the deal. i am very satisfied with this product.
i just finished using this stuff it's amazing it clean all the haze on my headlights they practically look brand new definitely pleased!.
nice, I know as long as it's a light haze it works great! However, once it gets bad then you need one of the more powerful step ups.
One of my closest friends uses this as a paint cleaner on his Z06 Corvette. This works well with a lot of his trim pieces which are carbon fiber too
I just used this product on my headlights and it works great. It's like night and day. It's simple, fast and effective. I highly recommend it. Great job on the vid.
mosacus1 thanks, yah this stuff works great!

Awesome, now if your headlights are really yellow then you need to upgrade to a full headlight resto kit but this works for light yellowing too!

sniperv25 good to hear this stuff worked for you as well!
I also use PlastX on my Gundam models, particularly to polish off the sandpaper scratches after cutting them off the parts runners.
areasevenpro I still have all of my Transformers and GI Joes from the 80s all wrapped up in zip log bags and put away in boxes.
it also works great on tail lights also and side markers I've been using it since 2004 it's awesome oh its good on cds
+Joe Sanchez good info there!
I enjoyed ur videos sometimes i also try different waxes but always come back to meguiars they have a wax # .26 it's awesome but it's like 11dollars again thanks

Thanks man! I will try that one in my Porsche. Mine is 10 times less durty as yours. It must work! If not I will step up to the restauration kit
Nice to see how many steps it takes. I was disappointed with single application on my car, but clearly I need to keep going.
I use PlastX to maintain our headlamps.
I use it every few months and seal them up
Keeps them clean and new looking.
I use Meguiar's All Metal Polish on my car's plastics. The micro abrasives get it done every time with minimal effort.
Ditto....works in minutes...going to cover them in 3m vinyl protectant now.
Masking tape / auto tape up the paintwork before you start, then you can go crazy and not worry about the paint :).
Great video!! I used this on my ride it came out amazing I'm so happy with the results.
awesome man, I really do like it!
Thank u my friend love your videos
i havent laughed this hard over the word Oxidation in a long time, thank you haha
:) always welcome, thanks for hanging in there with me!
i watch a lot of your review videos, especially Meguiar's products. keep it up buddy
pretty nice and quick.
yup, great for light yellowing, heavy duty stuff would need a full kit!
All good. Thanks for the review. Excellent commentary. Would like some more reviews of different products
Jeremy DeMoura I have loads of different videos showing all sorts of car products. I just got a whole box of car cleaning items in from Turtle wax, excited to get to try that out!
thanks dude!!
£7 halfords .. this stuff actually works!.Wow impressed! Thanks for vid 👍
I'm. My no no I'm I'm ffff BK no no
You should clean the headlight with isopropyl alcohol prior to polish
Haven't used my kit yet. Saw a video where a baking soda paste was used with some elbow grease. Thinking magic eraser would be good with cleaner(s).
Amazing review thank you!
Thank you for taking the time to view it!
All i will say it works. 2007 Lexus Is250.....No Shenanigans/ BS.... Im satisfied 98.9999%
Oxidazation??? Haha. Say it with me. OX A DA ZA TION.

Acc0rd79 I noticed that too. You're too cute. lol
oxidation?
Great video
Wow, that stuff works good. I bought the McGuire's spray coat I guess it would help to use this product or the lens restorer kits first.
wow...that stuff is awesome. looks great!
JR007 yah it keeps them clear!
This stuff is great on paintwork, been using it for years, better then any other polish Ive used....
How do you use this in paintwork?. It doesn't destroy the paint over time? Thanks
that uv protectant u showed at end of video is just a sealant there are sealants for ur paint that u can use it on ur headlights

Where's the update asshole
You do not use the UV protectant? Why not. Seems it would keep you from having to clean the yellow off so often.
What was the kit that you were using?
Can you use it with a polishmachine to get even better results?
I can't believe people still use toothpaste and toothbrush or go and pay $50 for restorations instead of using this one for $6. yah that stuff is great, I've used it several times on different cars. I wouldn't say it's better than wetsanding the headlights but it's good!
Wow I saw you post a comment for a wow classic server and today I found ur video by accident
Yah, I played that game for years on end back in the day:)
How come the rear break light lenses don't get cloudy like the front? Dont the rear lenses get the same amount of sun as the front?
Rear lights are designed to scatter the light, which is why the red and orange covers don't look clear. Front lights are designed to shine light directly onto road.
Nice prelude
it has its problems for sure but it just keeps on going.
PlastX really ripped off that oxyzation
Thanks!
Sou do Brasil, muito bom esse produto da Meguiars plastx, gostaria de comprar o selante do farol para finalizar.😉
Hey chad, dumb question brother would you ever try this on your gtr?
yup, if they needed it! I have no issues with that product at all!
Nice video 👍🏻
Thank you buddy!
When you add oxzidididaytuon to your gas it makes the v-tec kick in 500 rpms sooner !
SHHH Don't tell the ricers that!
Meguiars ultimate compound works better than Anything I have ever tried on headlights.
I sanded mines 180 400 800 ima bout to do 1k then 2k then the plastic x but idk how to seal it
hi thanks for yous video, could you tell me what is the duration in the time of the product? thanks
Would this product removes fine scratches on headlights?
Clearcoat 'em and wet sand with 2000, 3000 and 5000 grit. THEY"LL SPARKLE and last for years!
Yah the heavy duty meguiars resto kit comes with 2 levels of sand paper and they hold up for a very long time with some good sealant on them!
I have a diecast model 1:18 scale car that I bought from someone. Its obviously been displayed in the sunlight by its previous owner, hence the cloudy windscreen. Would this product do the same with a much smaller car?
Yes
** Is this a Product you would still recommend? Or is there a new product you'd prefer? **
Those are my Mexico's honking . Dam those dude's man
If you use 1000 grit sandpaper and water and sand your headlights before you put on the McGuire's headlights cleaner it will be done in no time and the lights will new.☺️
are you using the uv cream that came with the kit?
just asking because if you are I guess it's not working to we'll if your headlights keep oxidizing.
+RanGer498 The problem is, this isn't a permanent fix, that product wears off over time like a wax does so it needs to be constantly reapplied maybe once a month.
oxidization, I love that word. Not correct, but love it anyway.
this seems to get the oxidation off. What can I use to seal the plastic? Does anyone make clear coat in a spray can?
can it reduce fine scratches on the headlight?
I don't know, but from what I can tell this is just a polish so it might actually do it. Can't hurt to give it a try!
does this also work on the rear window of an soft top convertible car?
Late to the party, but yes, you can use it on soft top windows.
@AccOrd79 i love your videos dude !
Thanks for stopping by buddy:)
Has anyone tried this product on a Double Din Radio Screen that may have a light Scratch in it? Have a light scratch in my Kenwood Screen and have no idea what to use on it. I don’t think there is a You Tube Video that deals with the issue.
I think using that with a magic eraser would work.
Too abrasive.
I did a few coats and didn't see much of a difference :(
whats better on headlights this or ultimate compound
This works pretty good but when it gets too faded , you really need to get a full headlight restore kit.
Acc0rd79 I have and sand paper already, but should I apply both polishes anyway?
sandpaper and some good lubrication, then you will need a sealer to make it clear and stay that way.
Also i found that piss works great. Clears it up and no rubbing
@@gfriedman99 I needed that LMAO THX !!!!!!
How long does it last before it could use a reapplication?
a few months at least before you would need to reapply.
I have brand new headlights. Can I use this as a preventative?
absolutely NO!
Hit it with some clear now
Hi,i use Meguiar's Ultimate Compound on headlights and it works good.I would like to know what gives more Plastx than UC?
I think the plastic is actually made for the plastic vs the compound that is made to cut through paint. But I do understand where you are coming from, I have seen many pros use compounds and polish to get all of the nasty junk off.
Oxidization?? 🤔
I got very tiny Paint spray ended up landing on my headlights. Will this help removing them ?
Yep... I have done it with success.. Lotsa elbow grease and scrub time...but it will work 👍🏻
Kenny Powers!!
Looks better . In mine I didn't see much aprovment .
gil zur make sure you use a microfiber or something with a bit of grit to really dig in. If your headlights are bad, I highly suggest you buy the meguiars heavy duty headlight resto kit. That comes with the sand paper and everything to really get the haze out! :)
U have to do 5 or 6 passes for it to look new
does it help prevent the oxidation or does it only fix it?
***** as far as I can tell it just removes it. Once its clear you do need to protect your headlights or it will start to do it all over again in a few months. That's why I showed their other product toward the end that help prevent it with regular use.
i have meguairs how the f do spell it again? anyway... i have the meguairs polishing compound but im too lazy to go to the store to get the meguiars platsx, does the polishing compound works?
Would ya just look at it!? Just look at it!? Ed Bassmaster 🤣😂
I just restored the headlights on my car with the turtle wax kit I just have to wait 24 hours then I'll apply more sealant
eddie lewis back in the day my headlights were horribly fogged over, I bought the whole kit to get in there with the sand paper and that cleared out the hard stuff. Then you just apply this every month or two to maintain them!

can u use plastx on the bod
the what?
Acc0rd79 body*
or is it better to use something like ultimate compound on the body to remove marks
definitely use compounds or polishes on the body.
can anyone tell me how much the meguiars kit cost
All I have to say about your video is that you and the left headlight need to get a room!
What works better is Zilgian Cymbal cleaner. done in less than 5 min.
never even heard of it. This is easy to find off of the shelf.
The zilgian is easy to find too, just not in car/detail shops (since it's for cymbals).
xanadujohn79
Wouldn't that be a metal polish since cimbals are brass? Just curious! Thanks
Good for new cars and headlights.. Not for tougher jobs... U can get same results with any other car wax... Just this one is more expensive...
Bro you sound like rigby from regular show lol
Lol
Wet sand with 3000 than compound than polish than sealant
Don't forget to take tags off your microfibers.
yes sir, good point!
toothpaste also works wonders and saves cash too
662dodz still gotta buy the toothpaste, even if you have it already in your house, still had to buy it;)
