To be completely honest, do a reaction to the song (lyrics, live, or music video) then watch the history. Half the fun is the music, the other half is the unbelievable history. Even if you think you know it, like I did, you definitely don't know all.
First off, YES, do these together! Second, the guy who beat me to posting is right the lost battalion movie is great. Something they don't mention in that movie though was America had 3 units lots in the Argonne at that time. The liberty division, the buffalo soldiers (all black ) and a bunch of Marines(can't remember the unit).
So glad to see a reaction to the history video alongside the music video, these always are informative and well produced, hope to see many more reactions like this! Great job!
I'd like a mix, because I like it when he reacts to both the mv and the live show, but yes, I'd love to hear Cindy and Touchy discuss Sabaton History like they discuss the meaning behind the videos in their TXT reactions; they always have something interesting to say.
I always loved how the "drum kit" for this song is the sounds of a 1911 pistol, a machine gun, and the (simulated) sound of a bayonet tearing through flesh
Great that you like Sabaton 🤘It's my favorite band. You should definitely listen and watch another Swedish band. Avatar, recommends watching their live gig from Polandrock 2019 with the song Bloody Angel.
If you’re interested, there is a movie from the early 2000’s called The Lost Battalion. It’s available on TH-cam and Amazon. It’s a pretty decent movie and worth checking out.
Yo, got your reply to my prior comment from a few hours ago, wish my browser actually could have found the video before I responded. Fair enough, dude. LOVE your reverence for the history. Even the wife, the boss, loves it, too. Gets tears in her eyes just like me.
The story had a sad part too when Colonel Whittlesay took his life in 1921, jumping overboard from a ferry to Cuba. Very possible that he couldn't cope with the PTSD he must have been suffering from.
There's a movie called The Lost Battalion, it's worth the watch. Incidentally, it does tell you they are American, the Liberty Division. 77th Division. Whittlesey disappeared in 1921, missing off a boat on the way to Havana. He's assumed to have committed suicide by drowning.
Oh heck yeah, do both; wether that is together or separate is up to you. I've always maintained that once you know what the song is about, it's so much more meaningful. Edit: Me personally, I have never minded long videos as long as I'm interested. (An xample would Tex Talks Battletech or any of Drachinifel's videos which can regularly hit +1.5 hours)
The coolest thing about the recording of this song is that the bass drum is a .50cal, the snare drum is a 9mm, and the high hat is a bayonet entering flesh, probably a pig carcass I think…
Hey, if you felt like you needed to know the story, that's where you should go. I'm glad that you got a chance to learn something. A lot of the fun of Sabaton is in learning some crazy story and being like, "Wait, this is a real thing?" I already knew about the Lost Battalion but hearing the song just clicked for me, having already known what an epic story it was. (Horrible, chaotic, as war is, but also epic in the retelling.) The Attack of the Dead Men, an actual historical event, is a great example of this.
Now that you’ve seen the song, and understand the lyrics, you should watch a video where they tack on Diary of an Unknown Soldier at the beginning. You won’t regret it.
Hey dude this is your Bragg Blvd. Honeycutt and Gruber road 82nd brother. Hey have you ever given your fan's a real treat. React to "Blood on the Risers" you set it up and this is just a suggestion. Tell em it was written for W. W. 2 Paratrooper's. I know you've heard it a bunch of time. The first time I heard it was by the 82nd Chorus. Those guy's could really sing man . I miss the Brotherhood man. Here at the V. A. I find the Brotherhood again. Except for these Navy guy's. I get so tired of them complaining about polishing and painting a damn ship. Blood on the Risers That would be a good one.
This Vid is amazing, but you should go after your own feeling when you call for either the Live version or History Lesson. Some songs are pretty clear and common knowledge, but ths Song was pretty vague in its Text. And I would highly recomend 'Fields of verdun' and 'The last stand'.
If you haven’t already, since I’ve seen you with the 82nd hat before, they do have a song called 82nd all the way from their album the Great War, also referencing SGT Alvin York
Hi there. I have just found your channel and watched most of your Sabaton videos. Joakim Brodén, the vocalist of Sabaton once said that the best song he ever had written is the Lion From The North. I suggest you to react to that one, and be sure to read the background story who The Lion from the North really was. 🤘🤘 Great channel.
Heads up on another band that has a songs that you might want to see since you are former military. Bands name: Five Finger Death Punch. Songs names: wrong side of Heaven and gone away
There's actually a for TV movie called the Lost Battalion about this. Really shows just how desperate things got. Liberty not surrendering is credited with breaking the German resistance in the area as the Germans had spent all their effort trying to destroy them
Let me say like this! It’s your channel, do as you wish. Sometimes will the story speak for itself, sometimes not, then it might be a good idea to check out the history channel as well. On the other hand, if you check out the history channel before your reaction, you can provide the viewers a backstory in front of the reaction video!
I have been saying since I found your channel to do the history with the sabaton songs but I agree doing the song and the history as separate videos is the best choice. If people don't care about one they don't have to watch/skip through it and makes it easier for lazy ass viewers which should help your channel. Just my opinion tho
Yes. I don't mind longer videos myself (quite the opposite, actually), but I agree with you. It would be such a shame if some people didn't watch or subscribe, just because they found the length of the videos too cumbersome.
Now I love the history mix BUT I will also be honest. I can watch them on my own if you do not add you point of view as well. To be a good reaction video I feel like I am seeing this together with the reactor. So feel free to be you and pause to add you reactions and comments. It was on the light side of thst in this video. This mix is important
if you want more songs for sabaton sundays.. go watch the attack of the dead man.. and one of their erly songs.. the final solution. it dont have an official music video.. but alot of good fan made ones
Yeah, definitely do both. If you choose to do the history part first, you can always put up a little note on screen when the music part starts, so those who only wants to see that part or maybe already have seen the history can just quickly skip ahead. I think both orders work, but I wonder if you might not enjoy the song just a little bit more after you've learned the story behind it (and don't end up thinking what's it about, as you said you did here). Either way, both ways work. Definitely go for music and history. More people will learn as well. Go for it! Sometimes we think we know, but that's not always the case. Refreshing the memory is sometimes a necessity... Keep up the fun journey!
Doing the song then the history video is the way to go. Some songs have multiple history videos to go with them like soldier of 3 armies, they split the history video into 3 parts

Marine unit is 2marines 5 division also known as retreat hell the army just had a better publisher
personally i think the history behind them is much better then just the songs
Definitely keep the history.
So glad to see a reaction to the history video alongside the music video, these always are informative and well produced, hope to see many more reactions like this! Great job!
I love the sabaton history additions with the song
this was amazing! please do more history pairings with the lyrics!
Actually I prefer the song and history for your reaction. Sabaton excellent band. ❤️🤘🎸🇦🇺
I'd like a mix, because I like it when he reacts to both the mv and the live show, but yes, I'd love to hear Cindy and Touchy discuss Sabaton History like they discuss the meaning behind the videos in their TXT reactions; they always have something interesting to say.

Why would we not want to watch Sabaton History, the story is half the fun behind their songs.
Great reaction buddy :). Love that you do both videos and history behind songs. Good job
Thank you so much 😁
Love this concept
Whatever you like works fine but this is great.
i think you should throw in the history videos if its a topic you don't fully understand/know about, either way loving your reactions to Sabaton.
Great that you like Sabaton 🤘It's my favorite band. You should definitely listen and watch another Swedish band. Avatar, recommends watching their live gig from Polandrock 2019 with the song Bloody Angel.
Then we also have Majestica, it's the guitarist from Sabaton's own band. There I recommend Above the sky and Metal United
Sabaton History Channel with the song video…that is my preference.
Amazing story!!
Yes it was!
Yes! Yes, with the history this is so much better
If you’re interested, there is a movie from the early 2000’s called The Lost Battalion. It’s available on TH-cam and Amazon. It’s a pretty decent movie and worth checking out.
Rick Schroder was in it. If it's same movie I think it is.

Incidentally, it does tell you they are American, the Liberty Division. 77th Division. Whittlesey disappeared in 1921, missing off a boat on the way to Havana. He's assumed to have committed suicide by drowning.
There's a really good (imo) movie from 2001 with the same title as the song. About the same events.
Great choice! Great reaction! Thanks and more Sabaton, please!
More to come!
So formidable on stage. So human in person. Impressive.
Oh heck yeah, do both; wether that is together or separate is up to you.

yeah do the history for the songs, it's a great format, and if you like the song, you can add the live as well.. we won't mind ;)
Song followed by the history channel does it for me. Great stuff!

@@TouchyReactions please react to it and their history video on it. : )
I’m kind of surprised there’s no version combining diary of an unknown soldier with Lost Battalion, considering that it’s the lead up to the song.
I find the original music videos for songs give some of the best context aside from the history videos they do.
This song is drummless. Sound of drums is made by pistol, machinegun and bayonet piercing a chunk of meat.
The history videos are great, but yeah, maybe it could a thing but less often because of the length?
there is a movie about these events - The Lost Battalion (2001 film). It's worth watching because it's interesting
Heads up on another band that has a songs that you might want to see since you are former military. Bands name: Five Finger Death Punch. Songs names: wrong side of Heaven and gone away
Wrong side of heaven drops on Monday.
There's actually a for TV movie called the Lost Battalion about this. Really shows just how desperate things got. Liberty not surrendering is credited with breaking the German resistance in the area as the Germans had spent all their effort trying to destroy them
Yes, Sabaton is awesome, but we all know "Beep boop boop" is The Quote of the Year.
Lol. Thanks
Guarantee that whatever selection of videos you choose will be welcomed by the fan base. The suggestions won’t steer you wrong, enjoy the ride.
Fair enough
my recommendation for 40:1 specifically is that you watch the lyric video then the history video then the live from woodstock video all in one go.
Let me say like this!

Indy made the mistake that American Officers had revolvers.
Yeah, definitely do both. Keep doing the history lessons
Welp. There goes my job.
Were you telling him about the history on all the Sabaton videos?
@@lionellines6351 Yes. Since I'm working towards becoming a historian. It's great practice
@@6th_Army Oh! That’s actually a good idea!
Did you start enjoying history because of Sabaton, or did learning about history introduce you to Sabaton?
WW1 is what led to mass communication in the military and eventually mass communication world wide
YES!! together. And redo the night witches.. ;-)
You think folks would care for a redo?
@@TouchyReactions yes. As it Will make you choke up again. ;-)
And please bring you wife as it is a boost for all women.
Real Americans in action I doubt modern New Yorkers could do it.
If you like Judas Priest, Sabaton covered their Song All Guns blazing. For me it's better than the Original
When you react to shiroyama watch the Hellfest 2017 concert video
Doing the song then the history video is the way to go. Some songs have multiple history videos to go with them like soldier of 3 armies, they split the history video into 3 parts
try the Yarn Hub/Sabaton collaborations.
I stopped at 4 minutes and 50 seconds I think it refers to a battalion from America comprised of people from New York
I got it right, growing up my grandfather had a video on this I washed it so many times
can you please listen to "Wrong side of heaven" from Five finger death punch
Yes, stay tuned.
TYPICAL AMERICAN. DON’T LIKED. IT.
