      @@TyrellKnifeworks i am a plumber and see that affect a lot with heating the copper. perhaps you could just take a propane or map torch to it. idk how that would possibly compromise the integrity of the knife because you would have to heat the blade up as well so the copper will reach its turning point. i could only assume a very tedious job of fine sanding around the line to not take it off. would love to see what you come up with! i havent started blacksmithing yet i have a small set up just lacking some things. gl man cant wait!

    This reminds me of Anglachel / Gurthang, from Tolkien's "The Silmarillion".
    It was forged by Eol, a dark elf, and then later re-forged. It was described to have a dark blade with edges that "shone with pale fire". Which reminds me of the copper used.
    The story fits this sword almost perfectly. Just thought it was a neat coincidence.

    This is by far one of the best copper Damascus steel builds from what I have seen online. Hope you can make a full-size sword like this soon. It might be a challenge. If possible try using a copper-nickel alloy between the copper and the 15N20 steel. It may stick better together since copper and nickel like to diffuse into each other.

The colors, pattern, engraving, and wood pattern unify harmoniously to give this short sword an authentic fantasy look, yet it's functional and practical to use. I've been brainstorming some book ideas centering around "ranger characters" (they themselves won't all be elves). At the end of their training they will be presented with a blade of some sort. I know I didn't want it to be a sword, or even a short sword, but a big ass elven "bowie" hunting knife (as far as size, not so much the style of a traditional bowie knife) if that gives an idea of what I'm imagining. What was made here is damn close to what I was imagining.

    Beautiful piece for sure. A couple of questions: when quenching copper, it gets annealed, how does having it as the core affects the overall strength of the blade? If the blade is functional, how well does it retain its edge shape when hacking objects harder than a plastic jug of coloured water? Thank you for sharing that experience.

    Holy mackerel! That is a stunning weapon, I've never seen such a beautiful blade crafted on youtube before. This has secured me as a follower of your craft, and it's also interesting to see how you overcome the difficulties of the blade with it's perpendicular and creating that valley benind the taper on the blade, fascinating. This is also the first time that I saw someone blacken their parts and it's so cool. When I saw the sword come out of the oil bath I was so hoping that the dark color of it was kept and I cannot describe how exstatic I was when I saw the end result. Thank you good sir for this wonderful and masterful video. I'll be sure to stick around for more of your crafts!

    Amazing work! Absolutely beautiful!
    By the way it reminds me of the short swordspear the elf prince used in Hell Boy 2, so I was wondering what your thoughts were on making short spears or fantasy spearswords?

    Unbelievable craftsmanship. I'm just starting out in forging and videos like this are very inspiring not to mention the fact that you take the time to explain and teach as you go. Subbed for sure.

    My only suggestion:
    Split this into a four-video series so that you can monetize more…this blade is worth it!!! Excellent craftsmanship

    • @TyrellKnifeworks
      @TyrellKnifeworks  ปีที่แล้ว

      This already has a 4 part series. Note, that doesn’t get you more money. To go viral, it’s better to have a single video. Thanks for watching.
