If palworld puts enough pressure on Pokémon to the point where Pokémon has to start competing then that means we will get better games and then the Pokémon community won’t be able to hate on Pokémon. Pokemon stans have no ability to close a game with 1.3 million copies sold.
No, Pokemon stans don't, because it's not their game, but GameFreak does. The fact that the game is good is meaningless, and that it's sold a million copies isn't a defense. If anything it is THE problem, because if the game was free like PokeMMO nobody would say a word about it and GameFreak would never care. If they file a lawsuit and win, the fact that Palworld has sold a million copies would also be meaningless: they'd be forced to remove the game from Steam, return the money to all the customers, and pay GameFreak a fine.
This is very healthy for the Pokémon developers. This will push them to produce higher quality games in the future.
That is if the game does well enough. Most likely it can’t get that popular

The moment I got into palworld the day it launched, I haven't been able to drop it. And I'm having such a blast with my friends to boot.
When legends Arceus dropped, I struggled to get into it. I haven't even beaten the first zone yet. Because I dropped it for Pokemon scarlet and violet and had a better time on there.
The success of palworld is absolutely organic.

I might not seen much of palworld, but I am quite intrigued and perhaps could see bit more of it. I think as a game that’s came out when Pokémon’s a bit quiet at the moment (even though Im behind still need to play through the dlc) and just a game to play that’s alight too as long as your not bored that’s always cool. I mean even digimon may not be Pokémon but thiers elements that what make it different and unique and if you enjoy that’s ok.
I just think if the creators been inspired and been a fan then I realy could understand why they created something of thier own

If it’s just for fun and what not they don’t need to because it dosent negatively effect the artist who made the piece being used as inspiration
In short if money or media sharing of art is involved always ask for consent and share the original, that’s how ya show respect for the craft and crafter

It’s so funny that these people got really butthurt when everyone was posting the legality showing ROM hacks are illegal and still stealing.
Anyone who says that Palworld is 'Pokemon with guns' is either memeing or vastly underrepresenting what Palworld actually is. I would have accepted a shitty meme game as a goofy time waster for a couple hours, but I wouldn't have dumped the 30+ hours I've got into it if the game itself wasn't worth that. Palworld is everything I wanted but could never progress far enough to get from Ark while also scratching the itch with Pokemon/Dragon Quest Monsters themes to it.
Also, another thing - to the people saying that this is a 'blatant rip off of Pokemon', that's just not fair at all. There are plenty of designs that look like they were from Dragon Quest Monsters as well xD
Edit: As an aside, I'd also like to let it be known that it *really* should not have taken a lawyer to tell these people that Palworld as an IP was not anywhere even close to in danger of being taken on by Nintendo. It's a survival/crafting game with base building. The addition of monster taming to a game does not make it possible to sue for plagiarism unless the monsters you tame are *literally* Pokemon taken from the IP.

Yes, because pokemon showdown is free. People don't pay for the game. A third party's intellectual property isn't being sold. The same could be said about PokeMMO, or the many modded ROMs that exist. I don't see how this is any confusing.

So not much to do in the world itself yet. Like say Ark has its bosses and caves to explore to be able to gather items to fight bosses. I wanna see more stuff like that added in palworld before I buy.

Let it be known first that I've not been a Pokemon fan since Diamond, and that Nintendo and GameFreak are... let's just say companies I don't really like how they do things. This being said, like the game or not but you just can't make the argument that they aren't plagiarizing Pokemon. Just yesterday I heard of this game for the first time, I went to watch the trailer and immediately my jaw dropped to the floor the moment I saw it. I didn't even need a few seconds to relate it to Pokemon, it was instantaneous. The art style for both the characters and the creatures is a copy of Pokemon's, and some of them even look like an almost 1:1 copy with switched colours. The creatures are, to add more to the equation, also coincidentally captured using balls. Is it a hard case to win? Well yes it is, but it is winnable, because there's clear ground for Nintendo/GameFreak to file a lawsuit. You may not realize it but you dismissing the AI argument actually puts Palworld in a worse place, because having used an AI to generate creatures that look similar to Pokemon could at the very least have given them the excuse that they didn't plagiarize Pokemon, they just requested a "flully black wolf creature" and they got that, but if they actually created the creatures manually then it's an absolute crib. There's no way that their artists created the Pals from scratch with designs THAT similar to Pokemon's, and if they get sued and that's their explanation, they'll most likely have to demonstrate that process by showing concept art, sketches, and other things that artists always need to make and keep, stuff that most likely doesn't exist made using skills that they most likely don't have. If they used AI, that's a different story, but let me tell you, it is enough for them to have mentioned Pokemon only once in their emails or chats in relationship to generating Pals to demonstrate that they were intending to plagiarize Pokemon. It is gonna be REALLY hard for Pocket Pair to win this, much harder than for Nintendo/GameFreak. As one of the posts says, making a fan project game is one thing, and selling a game is another thing. PokeMMO or modded ROMs are good examples of games that aren't just inspired by Pokemon but directly take a lot of elements from it and add a different way of playing, but they aren't an issue. Why? Because they're FREE. They're actual fan projects, made by fans, for fans, not monetizing something that isn't theirs. This game is being sold in early access for 20€. It's not a fan project, it's a commercial product, and that's what really hurts GameFreak. And you know, that's good! I don't disagree with that at all, they've been making absolutely horrendous Pokemon games lately. Leaving aside the fact that Pokemon's target audience is children, the games are terrible even for kids, they should step up their game and Palworld will surely make them understand that. However, it is absolutely delusional to deny that Palworld isn't directly plagiarizing Pokemon's art style and even some of their pokemons.

The animals designs aren’t unique, they are just reimagined versions of Pokémon animals. The developers were incredibly lazy with the design of the animals, like I said they are just reimagined versions of Pokémon creatures. With that being said: I do *agree* with everything else you mentioned. They put an immense amount of effort into the mechanics and world building; and it shows. By combining all the different elements from other popular games set this over the top. I look forward to playing it.
As a Pokemon fan, it's always nice to see competitors on the market. It'll force Gamefreak to get better or lose their customers.
Anyone who claims to be a Pokemon fan and hates Palworld for not being Pokemon aren't fans of anything. They're just lonely gatekeepers who take achievements by stealing it from others.

This game brought out the worst of a crowd who thought they were angels in a world filled with toxicity.

None of the assets fit together, says one person, while thousands of others continue to dump hour after hour into the game because of how well the assets all fit together to make a fun game.

Perfectly fair. I honestly just love the way the game looks as is, but also didn't have any real comparison to make since I heard about the game then just kept an ear out about it until release when I realized how perfect a match the game was for my interests.
It very well may *have* looked better before but I wouldn't know, and as you said - it definitely looks good enough as is.

I love Pokémon, been playing it ever since it first released. I also am really enjoying playing Palworld. I don't understand why there is so much hate for this game. People need to learn how to loosen up some instead of getting triggered over everything.

I don't really give a shit about Pokemon in any capacity (even the Anime is shit tbh). I've only played Dota/Dota2 and CS/CS:GO for the past 15 years, but despite what the creators said, this game 100% used, either, generative AI trained on Pokemon or someone clearly copied the art/design (was not inspired by, i mean stole) and that i can't respect at all. The worst part is that the creators prefer to lie about it (as if people are blind and are extremely dumb) instead of owning it. Would love to see them go to curt and have to reveal the truth.

Man, I’m somehow glad that I didn’t get into Pokemon when I was a child. But, I respect Pokemon as much as I respect my parents. But I had to admit, your recent games sucks. Because when I felt like I wanted to try Pokemon games, I tends to found the older one more appealing than the newer ones. Plus, my most hated style of game is Turn Based. That’s another reason why I don’t play Pokemon Games. Sometimes I think, why people buying the exact same game from last year? I don’t get it till now, why do I need to buy COD MWII if I alrd have Cold War. Why I need to buy BF2042 if I alrd enjoy BF1. Why do I wanted to buy the exact same game every year. I see it as “Waste of money” if I want a game, I want it to be unique enough.
