    Jason's vocabulary is very impressive, and he always uses words as they should be used. Just that little exchange about 'higgledy-piggledy' demonstrates his facility with words.

    I’ve commented numerous times on the work Anthony and Jason put into Hagerty. Hearing that Anthony is an outstanding time manager who orchestrates shoots based on the minute puts me in further awe of the work and effort you guys have invested in those shows. Again, thanks!!!

    I always wondered how these surreal drag races were filmed but of course had no idea it would be THIS CONVOLUTED to make it happen. Madness. Thanks to Hagerty for making these possible!

    It was wonderful chatting with both of you Saturday at Radwood. Both of your cars were incredibly unique and very cool. Every year Jason's shorts somehow get even shorter. They are dangerously close to being Magnum PI nutters. ❤

    Derek, I cannot wait for the V550/V600 video! There is such little content on it and imo is one of the most interesting cars ever made, even though it's rather shit (in the best possible way). Hardly anyone quite realises just how insane it was/is. Only the F1 & CLK GTR were more powerful (HP) in the 1990s. I also believe it was the torquiest road-car ever built too? It took Aston 10 years to make another car more powerful! Truly excited for the video

    I've owned an E34 M5 and an M119 powered W124. The M119 W124 does run hot, they are known for having cooling issues in hot ambient temps. The hack is to unplug the temp sensor for the electric pusher fan on the front and center of the motor, under the front part of the engine cover, then the aux fans run all the time on full speed and not only above 110ºC when it would normally kick on. The M5 gauge reads accurate, when I had a failing fan clutch the temps would fluctuate within a small window like you'd expect.

    Well, at least one Urus buyer doesn't care about speed. I was stuck behind them on a local backroad (suburban 2-lane with a few curves...no canyon or anything like that). They drove 10-15 mph below the speed limit on straights and terror braked for every curve.

    Reading the Mercedes service manuals, the W124 M119 fan clutch is supposed to kick in at 82 degrees C (regardless of whether the AC is on or not). On 129 and 140 models, the fan clutch will engage at 98*C.
    My 400E has not exceeded 95*c in heavy gridlock traffic with the AC running and 80*f ambient temps.

    I think “hodgepodge” might be the word you want.
    Looking forward to the new episodes. I just experienced a version of that Escalade V’s engine over the weekend taking my friend’s ZL1 1LE out in the canyons, and I might be changing my religion because of it.
    I’ve always thought I needed a lower-power, high-rev screamer of an engine to find automotive transcendence, but the way that LT-4 has an over abundance of power everywhere yet still pulls harder and harder all the way to redline is something I find incredibly joyful. And for something that sounds like a dirt-track racer’s small block from 40 years ago, it’s remarkably smooth and refined in operation. I simply adore this engine.

    Car wow has consistently disappointed me. They’ve messed up comparisons with muscle cars so many times. Manually shifting automatic cars, driving them poorly (aka getting worse numbers in a drag race then I’ve gotten on the street in a quarter mile with a similar car etc). It makes me question their methodology because if they are screwing up the cars I know best, are they racing anything the way it should be? I can’t know. Big rant to say Drag race replay > car wows super casual content anyday!

  • @flat6croc
    @flat6croc ปีที่แล้ว +1

    As well produced as Jason's drag races are, the problem is that they look totally fake. All that extra work to make it look fake? It just doesn't make sense. And the viewer figures versus Carwow only serve to underline that. I think there's probably a happy medium with higher production values than Carwow, which is pretty skanky, while giving the impression you're actually seeing what the cars can do and did do. The problem with Jason's races apart from looking fake is that I'm not sure I trust the visual gaps shown. I don't doubt the numbers quoted, but I want to see how much one car gaps another and the race footage is so overproduced and fake I don't trust the gaps shown are actually the gaps the cars create in the real world.

    • @JasonCammisa
      @JasonCammisa ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What a great irony that I test all the cars, scientifically, and adjust for standardized weather conditions - only to be accused of having it look fake.

    • @flat6croc
      @flat6croc ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@JasonCammisa That's the point. It looks fake. There's no irony given that you can't see all the testing in the video. Just lots of effects and production processing making it clear that you're not watching a real run. As the viewer, all I can see is what's int he video. And the impression is not hugely authentic, albeit the production quality is high and the scripting is nice. I'd just roll back a little on the effects and CGI and tilt things a bit more toward visual authenticity.
