  • On a short trip to Tokyo, I tried to see as many sights as possible. So many, to the point my COROS watch registered 13 miles walked the day before race day! However something miraculous happened.

    What an awesome experience. Japan is a bucket list visit for me so I hope you were able to squeeze in some time to enjoy the country while you were there. Also, big fan of the SAO opening sequence at the beginning of the video.

      Haha, I was hoping a fellow SAO fan would catch that! I can't record a video on a Japanese experience without anime. ✌

    Great video. Congratulations on your race. I heard hydration vests are not allowed but I saw few runners in your video wearing back packs and hydration vests. Were they allowed? Thanks

      Thank you! I recall the Runner's Handbook discouraging the use of camelbacks and hydration vests. It's tough to enforce 100%, so it's possible some were allowed (or snuck underneath layers of clothing) through security.

    Amazing Video. I wish I'll get a slot for 2024 😁. Btw, may I know, how far is the KM between you and the cut off bus in 10:18 ? thx u

      Thanks! If you are a back of the pack runner, then this will worry you as I believe you have to keep more than a 13-14 minute per mile pace to stay ahead (8.4 minutes per KM). For me, I was at the 30k mark when I saw the bus cross at the 21k point. Running a consistent 9min per mile created a worry-free cushion!

    You rock! I would like to participate but always fail at the balott! Do you know if after 3 fails you automatically earn the bip?

      Thanks! I haven’t heard of a “3 strikes and you’re in” for Tokyo. I got accepted on try #2 so it may be possible. Good luck!

    Great recollection of your race, I was there too and loved it, nice to reminisce via your video. You could've made the video much snappier though, each one of your scenes could've been cut by two thirds, less is more. Also, when you film yourself, talk! Tell us what you're thinking at that point in the race, how are you feeling, etc.? That also breaks up the video into scenes of others running and narrative, which is much better storytelling.

      Appreciate the pointers! Will take that into heart on future races. I too reminisced when putting this together.

    Nice video. I'm amazed that you were able to hold your video camera through out the race. You don't even look like you're tired when reach the finish line. What type of watch are you wearing? Is reading close to your official finish time?

      Thanks! Holding the cam takes some practice. I currently have a COROS Pace2.

    Awesome! I’m gonna run this in 2024. Does the cutoff bus pick people up if runner is too slow?

    • @TheFaster262
      @TheFaster262  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unfortunately it does. Japanese are best known for their efficiency and obedience with the rules. There are circulating videos of runners who are seconds past the cutoff, and forced to stop. 🙈

      @@TheFaster262 Dang! Hopefully I can finish within the time 😅 Also if you ever decide to do a marathon in Hawaii (where I’m from) of course there is the big one with the Honolulu marathon but also take a look at the Maui marathon.
