The value priced Waffle Debut seems to be nearly identical to this. I just bought a pair for $59. It's funny that Weston says they're more boot-like because i really can't stand most sneakers and wear boots instead. I put these on and immediately loved the feel and yes, they do feel like Blundstone.
I’ve tried to wear Nike but usually they look cool but don’t function well. Brooks Beast is the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever owned. Makes all calf pain disappear.
Nike does not have to make money on colabs. They Treat colabs as loss leaders to build hype. Also there will be more color ways available in 2023, so the secondary prices will probably not go up.
Just checked with the online sites that I frequent and most resellers have already boosted the price up to over 400 dollars. General purpose has become an irony of its own.
You should check out Andrew Turriff - he's from the boot biz and is in the process of designing a "functional outdoor shoe" using high quality leathers, stitchdown construction and vibram soles! Similar vibes to this but absolutely no corners cut.
The original Mars Yards had single stitches securing the straps down. This was replaced with a box stitch in the 2.0 to fix this problem, and now it's found its way into the GPS!

Funny, I'm wearing my pair today. Honestly, it's the Nike version of Rod Laver tennis shoes, but "resole-able". It's a shoe that's comfy, is easy to get looking crusty, and meant to look pretty good when it's crusty - just like Rod Lavers.

They should make a high cut version. If so, I would be tempted to get a pair myself. Too late, resellers were quick to snatch them up, going for $300. If lucky, they will be released in Canada in a year, or six months.
As a product designer I don’t see this as a good solution for a shoe that is meant to last and be functional. No waterproof material, no metal laceyards for durability and cheap materials which wear easily or soles that delaminate. I think it’s more marketing and name dropping, if you want a high quality, functional and long lasting sneaker there are way better options.

I would prefer a heal more like on the Nike Internationalist, or the Waffle One's. A heel that really locks your heel in, one that doesn't give you the heel slippage that these shoes do...
I got emailed 3 hours after the first release for my W for these. Needless to say I had left for work by then. Anyway I would LOVE if you could do a review on the sneakersnstuff x Jordan 1 Mid. I swear the leather on these is insane, best I've seen, and they're cheap.
They extremely expensive. Like for rich people only. Reminded me of Puma GV/California casual shoes and those are on the opposite end, like super affordable.
The marketing and entire story and “purpose” behind this shoe falls flat and is kinda BS once you realize that they’re still limited and hard to get (in the first color way that is). Marketing a shoe for the every day person, for every day use, and then releasing a small batch once every 3 months, where you need to receive an email with a limited time window in order to purchase is incredibly dumb and pretentious. That, or releasing them in a select amount of Kohl’s stores. I still want a pair, it just sucks how Nike is going about realizing these.
The TPU coating does not add much mechanical durability, yet it extends the lifetime of the upper a lot. The first 0.5-1 inches of the upper, contiguous to the outsole, faces debris first, as well as it soaks dust and sand particles form the ground. Especially a mesh/fabrics upper. The sand is abrasive so it gnaws the material apart. That's why I do not buy completely mesh shoes without a stripe of leather along the bottom. Otherwise I get a through hole in 2 months. The TPU layer prevents that. Mesh running shoes protected with a bottom stripe of TPU last much longer.
There are many options from Vibram that work for resole, Freestone, New York, Newporter, Zegama, Siera, New Boulder or even Arctic Grip Christy Flat. Get Size bigger and cut to fit.
@@ObelixCMM I think what they mean is most people who would buy this shoe would want the original style sole rather than an different brand/style. Most of these Nike collectors shoes people don't even want replacement laces.
@@3212009a And I'm totally opposite of that, I don't think I have any shoes where I didn't change at least laces or insoles. On my brand new Grant Stone Field boots I replaced D-rings with speed hooks and I'm thinking about cutting them down 1 inch.
i bought brown one and been tested these for 3 month, I don't like how heavy those sole are compare to its very lightweight fabric, and once you break that in it felt even more slippery on heel compare to a regular boots or sneakers. Just buy a pair of boots if you want a "boot-ish" experiences.

Resolable? Where would you get a sole for those?
Waffle House?
Interesting combination of a hiking boot sole and mesh upper 🤔. I wonder what kind of weather or climate are those intended for
i bought brown one and been tested these for 3 month, I don't like how heavy those sole are compare to its very lightweight fabric, and once you break that in it felt even more slippery on heel compare to a regular boots or sneakers. Just buy a pair of boots if you want a "boot-ish" experiences.
I fell in love with old Polyeurathane midsoles recently so anything like that kind of cushioning I'm cool with.. compared to standard Eva more common these days
Tom Sachs X Gore-tex GPS would be ideal for this concept. The style of the GPS and durability of a Gore-Tex weatherproof shoe.
Would love seeing comparison of these to Nike C1ty's
Hi mate! I'm fan since the Dr Marten's video days! I've just got the KAVAT Töre 2.0 EP boots and I really like them. They feel comfortable and strong. The company also have a total makeover repair service that costs 80euro shipping costs included! Can you cut them? I really want to see what's inside Keep up the good work!
Well done on not compromising. 👍👍
I was hesitant about liking this shoe but after getting the RoseAnvil blessing I really want this shoe now
I would love to see you breakdown the Fear Of God Nike shoes! I own a pair and really want to know exactly what I’m wearing
what would you consider competitors to this shoe? something more accessible.
After Googling I see there is a rare brown color way of this shoe! That looks way better imo. It's like a "hiking shoe" 🤤 Welp, here's another addition to my wishlist. 💸
Copped the poop browns and they are honestly my fav shoes rn. I can literally wear them for any occasion and get compliments on them all the time
A Ma Maniere Jordan 4s, amazing quality. We want to know more!
Looks cool but I don't think resoling a $110 plastic shoe makes sense.
I loved the show and watched it within my childhood and gave me perspective on my parents.
