      If Conor could use his kicks and elbows it would have been over for Floyd in 2 minutes. Conor is very skillfull at using his kicks to keep his distance and land his left hooks. You know nothing about MMA. Imagine if Floyd had to be conscious of Conor's hands, kicks and elbows coming from multiple different angles, his defense would change completely and he would get destroyed.

    The actual statement made by Conor.
    "thenotoriousmma
    Just coming back around after a whirlwind couple of days.
    Thank you to all the fans for the support of the fight and the event! Without your support we as fighters are nothing so I thank you all!
    Thank you to my team of coaches and training partners!
    I had an amazing team and It truly was an amazing and enjoyable camp, and honestly I feel with just a little change in certain areas of the prep, we could have built the engine for 12 full rounds under stress, and got the better result on the night.
    Getting to 12 rounds alone in practice was always the challenge in this camp. We started slowly getting to the 12 and decreasing the stress in the rounds the closer it got to 12. I think for the time we had, 10 weeks in camp, it had to be done this way. If I began with a loaded 12 rounds under much stress I would have only hit a brick wall and lost progress as a result and potentially not made the fight. A little more time and we could have made the 12 cleanly, while under more stress, and made it thru the later rounds in the actual fight. I feel every decision we made at each given time was the correct decision, and I am proud of everyone of my team for what we done in the short time that we done it.
    30 minutes was the longest I have fought in a ring or cage or anywhere. Surpassing my previous time of 25 minutes. I am happy for the experience and happy to take all these great lessons with me and implement them into my camp going forward.
    Another day another lesson!
    Congrats to Floyd on a well fought match. Very experienced and methodical in his work. I wish him well in retirement. He is a heck of a boxer. His experience, his patience and his endurance won him this fight hands down. I always told him he was not a fighter but a boxer. But sharing the ring with him he is certainly a solid fighter. Strong in the clinch. Great understanding of frames and head position. He has some very strong tools he could bring into an MMA game for sure.
    Here is a toast of whiskey to everyone involved in this event and everyone who enjoyed it!
    Thank you to you all! Onto the next one!"

    How could anybody like this video? If you're so stupid as to think there's no science behind MMA training, or that intelligence/creativity don't matter, then you've never really watched a MMA match. Just look at Jon Jones (ignoring the drug tests). He beat almost all of his opponents by out-thinking them. By obsessively studying their movements, patterns, and habits, which he then took advantage of.
    There's nothing "us" MMA fans don't get. The reasonable among us didn't think Conor would win in a boxing match. If we're talking about a real fight though, it's not even a question. Even MMA isn't quite true fighting, but it's pretty close. Boxing is a sport, not fighting.

    • @jaymiddleton1782
      @jaymiddleton1782 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SurreallTV you're just really wrong. Pro boxers have gone to the UFC and gotten ragdolled. There's a reason Floyd didn't take this fight in the octogon. Like another poster said, MMA fans are aware that it won't work under boxing rules. Boxing fans are so deluded they think boxers can step into the octogon. Sure, MMA fighters are way below boxing standards. But boxers are way below mma standards. Conor did ten rounds with the greatest boxer alive. The greatest boxer alive wouldn't survive the first round against an average MMA fighter. Especially if they only had one training camp to learn how to kick and grapple.

    • @ScorpionXII
      @ScorpionXII 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      @SurreallTV - Since you people are so biased, I'll use the opinions of professional boxers who compete in MMA to address your horrible arguments.
      1. Boxers don't have tougher chins, they are human just like everybody else. According to undefeated 24-0 pro-boxer Fabio Maldonado (who's known for his defense and durability in boxing), the tiny MMA gloves make it extremely hard to block punches. Even with a high guard, punches always get through, so Fabio found himself getting hit by punches A LOT more than he did in a boxing match, and he actually go knocked with one punch against the current heavyweight champion in the UFC. Boxers rarely get hit clean, and when they do, they are protected by 8 oz or 10 oz of foam. It's just no the same.
      2. Conor is fighting low level talent now? I think this is a code word for "I don't follow MMA and have no idea who he is fighting".
      3. Low skill? How does one acquire multiple black belts from multiple martial arts lack skill? Jose Aldo is a former Jiu Jitsu world champion, Chad Mendes is an NCAA wrestler with a crazy record of 150-1 or so. How do you define "skill"?
      4. How was Conor's punching power exposed? He only landed a few uppercuts. Conor is not known for being an all-round power puncher, he's just known for having a deadly straight left. One of the most popular criticisms of Conor is that he only has a straight left. Conor's kicks aren't that powerful, his uppercuts aren't that powerful, his hook aren't that power, his cross is decent, but it's his straight left which people are worried about.

    I love Colin, and we disagree on certain things, but this is ignorance tbh. MMA is more scientific than he thinks. It's a complete chess match with threat of the human body, not just one part. As someone that has trained boxing and currently trains MMA, MMA is more of a thinking man's game. Boxing is as well make no mistake about it; but this sounds like someone that doesn't know the sport of MMA. But MMA is a chess match, with all of the threats your opponent presents. In many ways more so than boxing.

    • @kimstuart7989
      @kimstuart7989 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      There is subtle truth to what Colin is saying, but the way he phrased it was poor. MMA has way more art forms integrated into it: boxing, wrestling, BJJ, Muy Thai, karate, etc. As a result, the best fighters are the one's who specialize in one art but well rounded in most of them. The trade off however, is that you can't be dominate and 100% devoted to one art because you need to train in as many as you can. The science in MMA is a lot more psychological and mental. Add that to the fact that you are able to throw elbows, kicks, and takedowns and you are adding in a factor of luck to the equation in trying to anticipate whether or not your opponent wants the ground game or the stand up, which varies from opponent to opponent based on skill. So in that sense yes, MMA has a ton of science behind it, but also a lof of luck behind it as well. Boxing is 100% boxing nothing else. So to see Floyd's experience (not speaking for every boxer because a lot just love to throw punches with no technique) and his skill and ability to disect his opponent. He is never beating an opponent off of luck or a "lucky hit." He is literally picking opponents apart and countering every punch with precision. Colin is just so black and white and extreme with all of his stances that he makes it seem like if this is good then the other has to suck.

    • @brysongeikie9071
      @brysongeikie9071 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kim Stuart I can respect your take, Colins I can not. You make sense, and I'm glad you aren't ignorant like he is. Props to you for being knowledgeable.

    • @joshpotts6316
      @joshpotts6316 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not true. Including kicks, and elbows doesn't add luck to the equation. In fact BJJ is more scientific that pugilism has ever been. It requires an adept understanding of the human anatomy. There is no luck in BJJ. It's all skill. The reality is that most half the techniques in boxing don't work in a real fight. The stances leave the opponents lead leg open single leg shots, and leg kicks. Not to mention Floyd's shoulder roll, and stance would never work in MMA. They have better hands than most MMA fighters, but they're not as effective when you switch their stance.

    Colin is completely out of line. I've listened to Colin for several years. I think he's spot on in his criticisms of ESPN and he's spot on when it comes to LeBron. He's a good journalist. Objective. Until now. This disgusting, absurd, misinformation he's spreading about MMA could not be further from the truth. Let's start with Conor. I like Conor, and I always have. If you think Conor is well-conditioned then you've obviously never seen him fight. You could make a real argument that of the top 10 fighters in UFC history he's in the WORST shape. he gasses in every fight that goes to the 3rd round. He has decent movement, he hits hard, and he's accurate. He's pretty much Anderson Silva reincarnated, who was in better shape by the way. The reality is this conversation should be about boxing. If you want to talk MMA then tell me what kind of shape Jon Jones is in, or Mighty Mouse, or GSP, or Cain. The list goes on for highly trained extremely skilled fighters that are just as good at their craft as boxers are at theirs. Conor went into the ring to make money. Plain an simple. Don't try to spin this into MMA vs boxing. The nostalgia goggles for boxing are laughable. We know through science and by observing the world around us that grappling is more effective than striking. We know it as objective fact. I thought Colin did his homework. Maybe he shouldn't touch this one anymore.

    • @LDNballer
      @LDNballer 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea that was a part of what he said but his main point is that MMA is for unskilled tough guys, whereas boxing is mostly finesse. Both statements are completely false. "It works in the ufc and it works in a bar" he is clearly trying to downplay the level of skill required to be a mixed martial artist. He literally said courage and pain tolerance are most important in MMA, which is such a crazy thing to say. This guys knows nothing about fighting.

  • @dejesus4082
    @dejesus4082 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Don't like it , very bias opinion. I box myself and I'm a boxing fanatic but I'm also a martial artist. He interpreted the message. What Conor os trying to say is that Floyd is a netter boxer be he is the better fighter. Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard are not the best fighters they might be your favorite boxer but when it comes to fighting. True fighting with no rules they would get destroyed by even the bottom guys in the UFC. I agree that Conors explanation or statement of why the fight ended the way it did was like saying I lost but I'm still better and it was do to his pride. But at least he learned that Floyd is the superior boxer just like all his past opponents. But he is also saying he was overhyped and that with more experience he could beat him. That's not my opinion that's what I think he meant from what I gathered from that statement

      Florida Fish guy No, Mcgregor didn't only win because he got tired. He was in the best shape of his life. Floyd broke Mcgregor to the body. Floyd hurt mcgregor to the body as early as the fourth round. Watch the fight again and pay attention when they are in the pocket. Floyd broke him. With ease.

    • @attackonvariousfilms5389

      Broke him with ease? We all know he won but with ease? No. The ref saved him multiple time's for no exact reason for e.g when McGregor finally start's gaining momentum the ref would make them back away for no exact reason.

    • @tonygonzalez7455
      @tonygonzalez7455 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      AttackOnVariousFilms if you’re talking about the body shot that hurt Floyd then it was broken up because Conor circled to Floyd’s back. If he would have just stood in front or circles to the sides and threw punches it wouldn’t have been broken up. I’m a huge Conor fan but this was a mismatch from the start, you can’t fight the best boxer of all time in your first boxing match and think you can win. Everyone knew Conor gasses really fast so he had to put Floyd away in the first couple rounds which he didn’t. Conor did better than people thought since Floyd will not eat shots to the face willingly so the fact that Conor did hit him is an accomplishment in itself. They both win in their respective sports which was the argument all along that Floyd would die in an octagon, it was still a very fun fight to watch and I’m glad he got 50-0 with a good fight like that.

    • @tonygonzalez7455

      It was a very fun fight to watch indeed. I hate Floyd's style XDDD It's smart but I hate it how as soon as the opponent gain's momentum he'd back down and shove the back of his neck to people... It's smart but I don't agree with it.. I'm more Mike Tyson style.. I know if I don't like his style why'd I watch it, it was due to me being intrigued.

    So apparantly, according to Colin, you dont need bravery and courage as much as skills in boxing. What about the Ali-Frazier trilogy? You telling that one of the greatest fights in fighting history was regarded as the greatest- not because of how much Ali had the courage and bravery when all odds were against him?
    Muhammad Ali is crowned as one of the greatest fighter not only because of his boxing skills but because he has heart and tenacity and bravery. He would put himself in a situation where people thought he had very little chance to win. You telling me that Bravery and courage was number 4 there?
    Seriously this Colin guy knows nothing.

    • @akalj
      @akalj 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think youre missing the point of my comment. Colin was making the argument that UFC is less of a sport than boxing because it mostly requires bravery and not a lot of 'science'. That is just not true. Sure Ali was very skilled but that doesnt change the fact that the odds was not with him when he fought Frazier. Just taking the fight required a lot of courage just as much as skill and talent. Are you telling courage was 4th on his list of requirements when fighting Frazier? I doubt Ali wouldve won that fight had he not have a lot of heart and courage. Any ordinary man wouldve caved to the pressure and fear of getting hit with fraziers deadly hooks.

    • @joshpotts6316
      @joshpotts6316 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not true. Ali's # 1 asset turned out to be his heart. His early success was attribute based. His style relied on speed, reflexes, and agility. After the 3 year layoff Ali could no longer rely on his attributes. He relied on his heart, toughness, will, and determination to win fights. He was willing to die in the ring, and that's what separated him from the rest of the competition.

      @tenzinchagzoetsang4318 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ur right. He didn't have the power everyone claimed so that's why Floyd eventually walked him down and brought it to him. But let's be honest, considering Conor has no professional experience - that he was able to counter a fighter that hardly ever gets countered is impressive. You can't say it's his strategy to let Conor win early. Not true. Don't mistake strategy to take the early rounds to read and measure for giving the early rounds to your opponent and letting yourself get hit.
      Is this a moral victory for Conor and MMA fans? Yes. Absolutely. Floyd won fair and square. No two ways about it. But don't deny that the man exceeded all boxing purists expectations by a landslide and now they try to undermine the performance by saying "he let it happen" and further denigrating MMA by saying it's a tough man's sports and boxing is a skill sport.

      Floyd made it look competitive by staying in front of Conor and trading shots. He normally uses movement and angles to avoid punches. He did none of that because he knew he was in there against an inferior boxer. He gave away those early rounds. He could afford to. As soon as he decided to let his hands go it was all over. I don't know why this is so hard to understand for some people.

      Whats a "real" fight? What exactly do you think they do in a boxing match? Dance?No. THEY FIGHT. And by real fight do you mean a street fight a fight with NO RULES, because the last time I checked the UFC HAS RULES TOO. So going by your logic the only "real" fight is a street fight where nobody cares if the other person dies

    • @MrGforce52
      @MrGforce52 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A real fight is one where the combatants are able to use every weapon in their arsenal with minimal to no rules. MMA has minimal rules such as no hitting the back of the head, no hitting the spine, and no kneeing someone in the face while they have both hands on the ground, and that's basically it. In boxing you can only use 1 weapon and use only half as effectively as you would be able to in a normal fight, as the gloves are so big that you can't hit anywhere really, in a real fight you can hit anywhere at anytime because the gloves are either so small it doesn't matter or no gloves at all. This is the reason why boxing is basically dead and why MMA's star is rising, because it's not the purest form on unarmed combat. For example if in the contract it stated "you can use 1 kick the entire fight" that alone would be enough for Conor to dismantle Floyd as after 1 leg kick Floyd wouldn't be able to walk.

    If Lebron was in the ring and lost he would still be considered the greatest boxer of all time to Cowshit.

    Wow. He made some bogus statements during this lame speech. Conor was tied with Floyd going into the 10 round on various pro boxing cards. Dude got winded Floyd started landing shots, Conor didn't punch for a minute Ref calls fight...

    YOU ALSO HAVE TO BE TOUGH IN BOXING
    GUYS HAVE FOUGHT & WON WITH A BROKEN HAND.
    GUYS HAVE FOUGHT A FULL FIGHT WITH A BROKEN JAW.
    YOU HAVE BOXERS/BRAWLERS
    YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO ENDURE
    BUT A BOXER OF FLOYD'S CALIBER COME
    FAR & FEW,SO EVEN WHEN YOU FIGHT
    A DIFFERENT STYLE,IF YOUR GETTING
    HIT YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO TAKE IT,REMEMBER FIGHTERS HAVE DIED IN THE RING...

    Conor lost cuz he
    had nowhere to HIDE..
    In boxing you
    can't HIDE behind
    kicks,wrestling,bjj etc
    Conor NEEDED a
    SECOND FIGHT to
    hide behind a
    LOW LEG KICK to
    ISOLATE NATE DIAZ's
    BOXING SKILLS..

    UFC is also Scientific, and Intelligent, because you can't just go in the Octagon, and swing you're arms and legs, and expect to win. This guys just ''Butthurt'' by the Conor McGregor fans' comments, and UFC fans' comments...

    the fact you think theres more skill in boxing than there is mma, shows your lack of knowledge. boxers have an endurance advantage in the boxing ring. hiding behind those gloves being protected by the ref. YOU SAID IT WAS COMPETITIVE BUT HE LANDED MORE PUNCHES THAT MANNY P. STICK TO FOOTBALL!!!

    Conor's comment wasn't a backhanded compliment! If Floyd took on Conor in the octagon, FLOYD WOULD GET KILLED! Conor said Floyd was a masterful BOXER, hinting at the fact that to say "FIGHTER" typically implies MMA fighters and not boxers. Conor was saying that Floyd was the better boxer, but not fighter, and he was 100% spot on. Toughness applies to both boxing and MMA, and if any sport has a "hole" in it, it's boxing. Corruption and favoritism among judges gave boxing that gaping hole. Go ask GGG if you don't believe me.

    Mcgregor wasn't 15 lbs heavier than Floyd, he was 25 lbs heavier AT LEAST.After the weigh in,Floyd has dropped down to 142 lbs,yet Conor has bulked up to more than 170lbs. "Weight doesn't win fights,fighting wins fights."
