He is praising MMA and all people can do is complain about they believe is a better fight.. Lawler vs Rory was a classic among purists, but did it elevate the sport? nope, not like this fight has. Thank you Conor, thank you Nate
Right on. Robbie vs Condit is also a great fight. To add to your point, this was arguably the most hyped fight in UFC history and it delivered therefore it's the arguably the greatest fight - neck and neck w Bonner Griffin.
You said it man! some people can't stop hating for some reasons! But what this dude said it's inspiring and kinda poetry to MMA, He is right it's the best fight HE'S watched in 20 years because it's own opinion
Elevate the sport, you gotta be kidding me. Both were fined for what they did leading up to the fight. They acted like children throwing bottles at each other, throwing temper tantrums every time they seen each other as well. they really MMA look like human cockfighting, no sportsmanship whatsoever. Sure, they lifted each other up in the end. but what said in The Backstage interview.. same old same old.
This was the best fight of 2016 in my opinion. My heart was pounding and I was at the edge of my seat the whole time. I like both Diaz and McGregor and although close, I think it was a clear McGregor victory 1,2,4. Everyone who sees it as a Diaz win is biased. Round 2 is the round they bring up, but let's face it.... That flurry in the last minute of the round wasn't enough to win that round.
***** idc who won. it wasnt a great fight. i have seen so many better fights were fighters have given their hearths this was just conor jumping around catching points trying to survive an injured diaz
General420smoke It had nothing to do with the hype. I am a TRUE fan of the sport. I also said 'in my opinion'. Rory Vs Lawler was the best fight of 2015, in my opinion. Please name off better fights in your opinion this year. I'm not a casual fan.
"There are 4-5 big businesses in my life that have died: DVDs, newspapers, landline phones and Saturday night by 9:30 pacific, boxing died." The way he said it literally gave me goosebumps
Colin Cowherd Dana says never he is certainly wrong hopefully soon we all know 205 with Alvarez is a fluke he needs to either fight Nate or his brother nick
how about chandler vs alvarez or hendo vs shogun 1? or fedor vs crocop? or don frye vs tajayama? diaz vs mcgregor was good, but not even top 10 of the last 10 years
he obviously hasn't seen the Rory McDonald vs Robbie lawler fight.... definitely the best fight ever in the ufc... this fight was good but that title fight was the best
Rory vs Lawler was better, but he's talking about in the big picture of what this fight meant to UFC and how it exceeded expectations. For the sport, it was such a huge fight and it lived up to it.
Close fight but if not a draw, Conor wins, I would of had a problem with Nate winning cuz he didn't do much, Conor dropped him 3 times and smashed his legs while Nate didn't have Conor hurt once. Conor won rounds 1,2,4
last 45 secs in the 3rd round. Conor survived a punishing. Conor looked like he was gonna quit. its what led to a 10-8. So i dont know what fight you saw. It was a close damn fight.
You can pick other fights that were as good or better in the last 20 years but when you take it in its entirety, the rivalry, the animosity, the trash talk, the bottle throwing press conference, I think he's right the best over all fight in the last 20 years.
MMA is already taking over boxing. Boxing is one-dimensional and doesn't offer a variety of thrilling moments such as being on the ground or in the clinch. In a few years time MMA fighters who are unknown will be getting 6 or 7 figure paydays and for Conor lets say his last fight in his career. He will definitely earn a 9-figure payday, the man has brought SO much attention to the UFC and the sport in general he will definitely be remembered as one of the greatest and inspiring athlete of all time.
LOL, BOXING SUCKS BECAUSE THE BEST GUYS DON'T FIGHT EACH OTHER! (ONCE) IN AWHILE YOU'LL SEE THAT IN THE UFC BUT ALL THE TIME YOU SEE IT IN BOXING! ALL THE TOP FIGHTERS SCARED TO LOOSE!
Take into consideration the build up, all that was on the line, the uncertainty, combine all of that and we have the best fight of the past 20years. Not taking anything away from Robbie vs Rory, true warrior and an awesome fight
Y'all can never know what it was like to be watching this fight live unless you did. All the drama and tension there was absolutely unbelievable and there hasn't been a fight like it until Gaethje vs Chandler.
This was great commentary. Balanced yet philosophical, timed delivery, pronunciation and tone. Old school and classy. This is the best commentary that I have heard in 20 years.
Even if this is kind of a PR/marketing speech for the UFC it was still one of the best speeches ever about a sport. He is completely right when he says there were lots of life lessons in that fight.
Alessandro Scuderi i disagree with you and agree with everyone else...not being a fight fan at all i can absolutely tell you that was the best fight in the past 10,000 years...no other fight will ever come close....hands down the best fight ever in human history....just kidding...was i pretty good fight though
jgfleet i was simply inquiring about the length of your support for MMA....i watched a little in the 90's but back then i was still a big boxing fan...didn't really get back into it until 2003-04 when i was introduced to Pride...just since then i've seen some ridiculously amazing fights...i thought you might be new to MMA because of your comment...but honestly i know it all comes down to personal opinions....to me it was a great fight...definitely up for fight of the year...but in my book it wouldn't break top 5 greatest MMA fights to me....to each his own though...no disrespect....didn't mean to sound like a dick
2nd most significant strikes in UFC history (only 4 behind first)...more than Lawler-McDonald (amazing fight) and that fight had no bad blood, shit-talking, or build up. This was the best fight I've ever seen with Gatti-Ward I.
Condit vs lawer was better bro atleast they went the distance and mcgregor diaz was better then the rorry fight because there was more hype behind it it was more exciting
Lawler McDonald was a classic but didn't have as much action and wasn't really on the same level technically in terms of boxing, plus it was the main event and probably the most anticipated fight in mma history
boxers are making more money? you sure about that? if you remove manny & floyd they really aren't. triple G made $2 mill for winning. Nate made $2 mill for losing. and that doesnt include PPV. and frankly the point is irrelevant because it says nothing about the popularity of the sport anyway (go read the UFC-reebok deal and understand why that is)
***** you are clueless. read what i just said again, and see if you can get it to sink in the second time around. Lets try that again: 1. top UFC fighters are making as much or more than top boxers (not incl. Manny & Floyd). Look it up. 2. the reebok deal is artificially holding back lower tier fighters' pay. 3. pay does not equal popularity.
that fight can be fight of the year. the main point he saying was saying was Nate diaz got dominated for the first two round look like he had nothing left, came back third round. by 4th round Nate diaz bloodied to the pulp.. Connor seem winded by diaz punches, gassed the fuck out. but both fighter never quit kept on coming at each other. its his opinion. the fight was great best fight I seen this year, but not the last 20 years.
+speedrocks it was a good fight.not even the best of the year . basically people with no fighting experience or understanding of mma would take this guy's opinion as credible or worthy of media coverage. this dude is a fairy
+david campbell I didn't agree with Colin that the fight was best within these 20 years. I watch alot of boxing n mma. it was an epic fight, I was on the edge of my seat the whole fight.
Those fights did nothing to elevate the sport. You have to put things in context...McG vs Nate was hands down the greatest fight in UFC history, all things considered.
Boxing is dead. Let me explain. There are not going to be any new boxing fans. Kids and teenagers now look at boxing as a very one-dimensional sport, not any different than a Jiu-Jitsu or a Muay Thai match. It just is what it is. MMA is completely dominating the audience from ages 15-40. Boxing still dominates the much older audience. This older audience make more bets and buy more PPVs. The younger audience stream it for free on live torrents, just like any other form of entertainment, so that's also why boxing still dominates money wise. tl;dr: There are no new boxing fans. MMA is the fastest growing sport in the world. Boxing will slowly die off in the next 20 years.
IMO Top 5 fights 5. pedro rizzo vs josh Barnett 4. Dan Hendo vs Shogun 1 3. Mark Hunt vs Bigfoot Silva 2. Robbie lawyer vs Rory Mcd 1. Diaz vs Mcgregor 2 Not in particular order. Honorable Mentioneds: 1. Takanori Gomi vs Nick Diaz 2. Aldo vs Mendes 2 3. Liddell vs Wanderlei Silva 4. Lawyer vs Manhoef 5. Lawyer vs Condit
The amount of likes on this video shows how little people know about ufc or mma. Jones vs Gustafson was better, Hunt Silva was better, Guida Sanchez was better. Just pick a random lawler fight. The fight was good but not some amazing display of fighting
No 3 round fight can compare. Making it through 3 rounds is nothing compared to a 5 round war. Lawlor is a brawler and don't use a great amount of technique in his striking. McGregor vs Diaz 2 had both fighters overcome extreme adversity in almost being taken out but coming back and fighting to the end. In 50 years people will look back on the McGregor vs. Diaz trilogy as a real life legend. But the fights you mentioned will sadly be packed away collecting dust.
50 years?? you're living in cloud fucking cuckoo land, you act like this is the only fight where anyone has ever come back from adversity, and while we're on technique, Nates boxing technique is sloppy as shit, thats why he gets pasted up all the time until his opponent gasses
Do you remember when they called Forrest Griffin vs Stephan Bonner "The Hagler-Hearns" of mma?" you probably don't because you probably weren't watching back then, and that wasn't 50 years ago. There will be stars of the future who will have better fights and Diaz-Mcgregor will just go down as one of thousands of good fights from the past
Couldnt have said it better myself, what a fight by two of the most exciting fighters we have in the sport today. Love them or hate them there is no arguing the heart displayed at UFC 202.
guys dont u understand? Rory vs Robbie not only wasnt better fight but there is a reason hes talking about Diaz vs McGregor 2 and not Robbie and Rory. because that fight didnt matter, that fight didnt evolve the sport, that fight wasnt talked about on the streets. McGregor Diaz 2 was a legendary fight everybody knew about, it mattered and like Colin said, it killed boxing. because of this fight boxing fans are crossing over to watch the UFC
That was an incredible segment, this is why people are following cowherd .. He speaks his heart and gives very valid opinions whether you agree or not. If you love MMA and want it to grow, you need mainstream guys like this finding a love for it also
Colin Cowherd, thanks for this. Great commentary. Very cool to hear this man praise something that's strangely still dismissed by sports fans. I understand why some get defensive while comparing boxing with mma. But I'd like to give fans of both a challenge: list your trilogy fights in boxing over the last 80 years. Then list trilogy fights in mma in just the last ten years. This sport is incredible and has a great habit of quickly allowing it's athletes to manage themselves regarding how often they can fight (while that's disputed, compare that with boxing, and compare the purse). Rematches occur more frequently, the divisions are stacked, and there's much more to it while even just simply watching than there is to a boxing match. And I dare say that the sport has produced fighters of greater intelligence than boxing. I love watching the old timers, the classics. I still get chills watching the legends of boxing give it all they have in the ring. But, I'll take three rounds of back and forth mma over two guys boxing any day.
+Angel King dude its not runnin its reseting urself nate is a big boy u cant just keep runnin at him thats how he lost the first fight clearly he knew what he was doin he won right
Cowherd himself would tell he does not know much about ufc/mma, the guy is/was on radio for years, then got moved onto TV becuz of his huge fanbase and knowledge of sports on a whole..
There was something poetic about what Colin Cowherd just said there. As I watched the fight, I realized these guys elevated MMA to another level. RESPECT
I have been an MMA fan for a long time, and this fight was the best fight I have ever seen. The rivalry between the two individuals, between the camps. The all out war in the octagon from round 1. Seeing the fighters getting gassed and anticipating their defeat at any second just to realize they get a second wind and keep striking back. The emotions invested in your favorite fighter, as a Mc Gregor fan I just couldn't handle him losing again. Watching this fight gave me goosebumps at every corner. It was a great fight and I am glad i got the PPV to watch it live.
Boxing sucks dude. My grandparents use to order and watch all the fights growing up, now we just watch the UFC/MMA cause it's more entertaining. Honestly Floyd Mayweather ruined the sport. He's the biggest name in the sport and he's the most un-entertaining fighter in the sport. Don't get me wrong, hell of a boxer, knows how to use the rules to his advantage, but that's a terrible way to make something grow. Have the best guy you got be as boring as grass growing. It just discredits every other fighter cause you got the best guy in world running like it's a marathon and clinching so much I could've sworn he was Danny Tanner from all that hugging.
The people saying "I've seen far better fights" are just not getting the point here. It's not just about the fight itself, it was the build-up, the opposing styles of the two, not just in their fighting styles but their personalities and the way they conduct themselves. It was also Conor taking the rematch at 170lbs when he could've kicked up a fuss and had Nate fight at a lighter weight. It was Conor learning from the mistakes he made in the first fight then training to improve in those specific areas and putting them into practice. It was the back and forth nature of the fight when you thought Conor was dominating then Nate started to shift the tide back into his favor. Conor looked to be down out in the third round and it looked like it was going to be a repeat of the first bout but his improved cardio and patience showed and he pulled through. Sure there have been better fights technically and stylistically but as an event this has to be one of the greats.
it was a takedown but it looked more like they fell over from exhaustion. Shit was crazy I think you could hit Diaz with a tire iron and he would keep coming. LOVE how he was smoking a CBD vap pen at the PFPConference
I think what happened after this fight was a recognition of how great the mma has become. Even espn got off their pompous ass and recognized it as a sport that is being embraced by young and old alike.....and the blood issue...! good lord enough is enough....the fights in the 1930's were bare knuckle and no one ever stopped it.
Let's be clear here. The reason McGregor vs Diaz fights are so exciting is BECAUSE they are both boxing based fighters. The fights would not be as exciting if they were rolling around in jiu jitsu scrambles. Boxing isn't dead, it's alive and well right there inside of the UFC and MMA in general. I love jiu jitsu but lets be honest boxing techniques are so much more exciting to watch.
He's not just talking about the fight inside the cage guys. If you take into account the build up, emotion, hatred, respect, hype and that it exceeded people's expectations, you can rightfully say that this is the best fight in the last few decades.
I was gonna talk shit about this guy but he made some good points for casual fans. I want this sport to become mainstream like the golden eras of boxing so having popular media talking about MMA is a blessing.
Lots of salty Diaz supporters commenting. Sure, as purists there may have been better fights but never has there been this level of public interest, and on top of that a fight that delivered on the promise. Conor has elevated every martial artist on the planet and for that, Diaz supporters should acknowledge with humility.
Lawler vs Macdonald 2 Shogun vs Hendo 1 Jon vs Gustafsson Edgar vs Maynard 2 Cro-Cop vs Nogueira BJ Penn vs Matt Hughes Matt Hughes vs Frank Trigg 2 Aldo vs Mendes 2 And so many more that are just as good or even better.
This was great. Also at the end of this epic confrontation both guys who really didn't like it each other embraced one other in a sign of mutual respect. This is one for the ages.
Erik Morales vs Marco Antonio Barrera is the best overall boxing fight in the last 20 years, gatti vs ward was the most brutal but in terms of all round fighting, chandler vs Alvarez 1 and Henderson vs Rua were the most brutal overall fights in the last few decades
The people who are mentioning other fights are fundamentally missing the point. The reason why McGregor Vs. Diaz 2 is the greatest fight in a long time isn't because of the technical skill in the octagon. The reason why is the story telling. Stories will always matter more then skill when it comes to money, emotion, and lasting generations.
Eddie Alvarez vs Michael chandler is an amazing aggressive war and will always have a special place in my heart, because I was flipping through channels one Saturday night and found bellator, and I had no idea what I was about to witness.
+Col. Hans Landa no a boxer named Anthony Joshua check him out he has 16 Ko s and he is huge he is a heavyweight boxer and a future great he has brought boxing back
Lol you talking about that steroid boxer who got a lot of hype behind him? 😂you can't be serious, he is a fucking stationary fighter nothing exciting about him but fighting bum boxers out of shape
cowherd saying diaz had nothing left in the tank after round 2 just proves he's new to the sport. diaz is a notorious easy bleeder.. that said, great, great fight.
As a big ufc fan Im very happy hearing colin giving so much credit to the sport which is much deserved, because these guys put their lives on the line every time they step into the octagon. But you can sense colin is a rookie to this sport. lawlor/rory, bonnar/griffin, showgun/hernandez, and maybe about 3 or more fights in the ufc were better then this battle but it still doesnt take away from how amazing this fight was. All respect to diaz being the savage he is and keep walking forward no matter what is coming his way, mcgregor edged out the win and showed his heart out there. Cant wait for the 3rd fight when everything is on the line.
If you say this was the best fight you have ever seen, you sure as hell haven't seen the Ward vs Gatti Trilogy, cause , even if i had to admit that Diaz vs McGregor was good, it doesn't come close to Ward vs Gatti. Whenever i watch those 3 fights of Gatti and Ward i am in awe with their heart. True warriors. Which McGregor and Diaz are too, but not to the extend that Gatti and Ward were. They fought with broken hands and jaws and still going as hard as possible in the last round. Not 5 rounds but 12. It was just unreal
I have watched mma since the very beginning and boxing since the early 90's. IMO Diaz vs McGregor was hands down one of the most exciting fights I have evet seen.
Obviously a lot of you forget the fight between Tank Abbot and Oleg Taktarov, Don Frye and Gary Goodrich... No rounds, toe to toe non-stop. The good old days.
gee dee Nate has insanely better fighting skills than bums like Tank back in the day...and the fight he's talking about with Oleg was horrendous. I dare anyone to watch that fight and not fall asleep.
Take into consideration the build up, all that was on the line, the uncertainty, combine all of that and we have the best fight of the past 20years. Not taking anything away from Robbie vs Rory, true warrior and an awesome fight
Best fight in 20 years? If you watch UFC on a regular you would know thats a damn lie. Most hyped fight in 20 years but not best fight in 20 years. I would say Lawyer vs. Mcdonald was a better fight than that. Dont get me wrong tho, Diaz and Mcgregor put on a show loved every minute of it.
For all those claiming that there are other better fights or as equivalent to this one such as Robbie vs. Rory et al, I am not saying they weren't as good... but this one had so many things in it outside the fight itself that it even made a bigger spectacle than the other ones. I am referring to the Drama, the whole animosity, the way each of the two fighters had been handling themselves throughout their careers and a long etc. It just basically added so much pressure to a fight and a rivalry that only occured due to an injury from the former lightweight champ. In the other fights mentioned, which are absolute classics, the animosity coming in wasn't as big as in this one. The whole drama, the whole show... wasn't even close to what Nate and Conor had. Both of them are the biggests draws currently in the UFC and they just delivered. No fighter lost that night! We all won!
Well said and I completely agree!
Great point.

the only reason you think this was the best fight is because the hype, this wasnt a great fight.
I had it a draw
I agree only neq ufc fans think this was the greatest fight of all time far from it dident live up to the hype at all
***** idc who won. it wasnt a great fight. i have seen so many better fights were fighters have given their hearths this was just conor jumping around catching points trying to survive an injured diaz

Some of the best analysis I've seen from Colin's career right here.
Fr I wish he talked ufc more
When will we see McGregor vs Diaz 3?
Colin Cowherd Dana says never he is certainly wrong hopefully soon we all know 205 with Alvarez is a fluke he needs to either fight Nate or his brother nick
Dipshit Colin must have never seen Jones vs Gustafsson if he thinks McGregor vs Diaz 2 was the best fight in the past 20 years....
want to see them fight at 155 after McGregor finishes alveraz
how about chandler vs alvarez or hendo vs shogun 1? or fedor vs crocop? or don frye vs tajayama? diaz vs mcgregor was good, but not even top 10 of the last 10 years
The Herd with Colin Cowherd Don’t cover MMA , you are a idiot with little to no knowledge.
he obviously hasn't seen the Rory McDonald vs Robbie lawler fight.... definitely the best fight ever in the ufc... this fight was good but that title fight was the best
condit vs Lawler was better
I also thought condit bs lawer was better
Rory vs Lawler was better, but he's talking about in the big picture of what this fight meant to UFC and how it exceeded expectations. For the sport, it was such a huge fight and it lived up to it.
Griffin Vs Bonnar As Well
Henderson, Shogun.
Close fight but if not a draw, Conor wins, I would of had a problem with Nate winning cuz he didn't do much, Conor dropped him 3 times and smashed his legs while Nate didn't have Conor hurt once. Conor won rounds 1,2,4
Yea nate in the 4th was like Conor in the 3rd except it was a lil closer
I believe Conor didn't do nothing after the 2nd stop lying to yourself lol
+Killah Los go watch round 4 bud , and don't be a biased Diaz fuckboy d rider
+Killah Los what did Nate do the 4th ?
last 45 secs in the 3rd round.

9 figures? That's never going to happen. Maybe if you add up his total earnings of his career.
+TheStoryUp 8 figures I reckon
conor already makes 8 figures...he made 15 million saturday night
Not if Dana has anything to do with it
LOL, BOXING SUCKS BECAUSE THE BEST GUYS DON'T FIGHT EACH OTHER! (ONCE) IN AWHILE YOU'LL SEE THAT IN THE UFC BUT ALL THE TIME YOU SEE IT IN BOXING! ALL THE TOP FIGHTERS SCARED TO LOOSE!
Wow!! It's been a while I haven't heard a true professional talking like that!....
Cheers to you Colin!
I feel the same way of that fight!
Lawler vs Rory 100x better but you wouldn't know because you only watch Ronda, Connor and Jon. SMH.
For a Main stream fight it was
i wouldn't say it was 100x better. It was better but not my much, b/c this fight was insanely exciting aswell.
you have to count the build up factor too.
So true. Colin is Vegas spokesperson and does what ufc tells him.
Trying to hype up Connor.
plus jones vs gusstafson, edgar vs maynard 2, lawler vs condit just to name a few
ROBBIE VS RORY WAS WAY BETTER.
I agree with you
Take into consideration the build up, all that was on the line, the uncertainty, combine all of that and we have the best fight of the past 20years. Not taking anything away from Robbie vs Rory, true warrior and an awesome fight
Ufc wasn't big at the time but since Conor/Ronda made it big they recognize them
+israel ceja UFC wasn't big at the time? It was last year dude... Maybe you didn't watch as much...
Daniel Hooper lol n it was on the same card as conor vs chad
Well fuckin said Colin. This sound bite will be timeless. Thank you for the lesson. God bless.
Boxing is not dead. Boxing is very much alive. Amigo.
This guy is as casual as Pokemon Go
😂😂😂😂
at least he can recognize a real show
Y'all can never know what it was like to be watching this fight live unless you did. All the drama and tension there was absolutely unbelievable and there hasn't been a fight like it until Gaethje vs Chandler.
one of the best segments cowturd has ever done. genius.
This was great commentary. Balanced yet philosophical, timed delivery, pronunciation and tone. Old school and classy. This is the best commentary that I have heard in 20 years.
He clearly hasn't followed the sport enough!, Hendo Vs Shogun!, Melendez Vs Sanchez! Gus Vs DC! Robbie Vs Rory! so many awesome fights
You clearly didnt listen to his words. It's not just about the fight in the octagon.
+Brandon Mason that wasnt that great
+Brandon Mason that wasnt that great
jones vs gus was a great fight
bro tbh hendo vs shogun was good but these two had more skills legs clinch
Even if this is kind of a PR/marketing speech for the UFC it was still one of the best speeches ever about a sport. He is completely right when he says there were lots of life lessons in that fight.
best fight i ever seen
new MMA fan???
Chill. It was the best fight of the year and one of the best fights in recent memory,
Alessandro Scuderi i disagree with you and agree with everyone else...not being a fight fan at all i can absolutely tell you that was the best fight in the past 10,000 years...no other fight will ever come close....hands down the best fight ever in human history....just kidding...was i pretty good fight though
+A Mac What if he is? I put this fight up with Lawler/Rory 2 and I've been watching since the early, head butt was legal days. Your point?
jgfleet i was simply inquiring about the length of your support for MMA....i watched a little in the 90's but back then i was still a big boxing fan...didn't really get back into it until 2003-04 when i was introduced to Pride...just since then i've seen some ridiculously amazing fights...i thought you might be new to MMA because of your comment...but honestly i know it all comes down to personal opinions....to me it was a great fight...definitely up for fight of the year...but in my book it wouldn't break top 5 greatest MMA fights to me....to each his own though...no disrespect....didn't mean to sound like a dick
Clearly u havnt watched rory vs lawler 2. Stop covering the ufc, u have 0 knowledge about the sport.
Lawler is a bum ass nigga
Melendez, Sanchez , Edgar, Maynard Lawler, Hendricks 1,2 McGregor, Mendez
2nd most significant strikes in UFC history (only 4 behind first)...more than Lawler-McDonald (amazing fight) and that fight had no bad blood, shit-talking, or build up. This was the best fight I've ever seen with Gatti-Ward I.

only casuals say boxing is dead
only non casuals watch boxing. therefore boxing is dead.
+tbomber boxers are still making more money and hell no it's not dead

Because of Nate Diaz. Conor McGregor will never be the same. Physically &' mentally.
he beat a man 20 pounds heavier and 3 inches taller than him, getting revenge. yeah, I'm sure he's devastated
for all the idiots that dont remember nate fights at 55 not 70. they walk around pretty close the same weight. nate went up in weight too.
+EVO6reviews nate has always fought at 155 , and he wanted it at that weight but conor wanted it at 170.
Nope. Nate had tons of fights at 170. He lost 3-4 at 155, and why he moved up, dumbass. It took too much strength out of him to cut that much weight.
You're right...he'll be better.
best fight in 20 years!!????
who are you again?
that fight can be fight of the year. the main point he saying was saying was Nate diaz got dominated for the first two round look like he had nothing left, came back third round. by 4th round Nate diaz bloodied to the pulp.. Connor seem winded by diaz punches, gassed the fuck out. but both fighter never quit kept on coming at each other. its his opinion. the fight was great best fight I seen this year, but not the last 20 years.
we don't those types of fight anymore in boxing.
A person with differing opinions?
As great as the fight was, it still doesn't top the war Robbie Lawler and Rory Macdonald had last year.
Idk why every one keeps mentioning tjat one when lawler had a better fight with fuckin condit that last round may be the best round in ufc history
because more people saw lawler/mcdonald as they were on a mcgregor card. theres some truth for your quest.
That's BC you're a casual. Lawler / MacDonald or Griffin / Bonnar puts that fight to shame.
Griffin/ Bonnar was in the stone ages of the UFC a lot of shit has changed specifically fighting styles.
ukibanter99 It was in the last 20 years and was a far superior fight to McGregor Diaz 2.
Lawler v MacDonald was the first fight that came to mind also.
Those fights did nothing to elevate the sport. You have to put things in context...McG vs Nate was hands down the greatest fight in UFC history, all things considered.
Bonnar and griffin are bums, conor mcgregor vs nate diaz 2 is basically that fight except conor and nate are world class fighters
Boxing will always have a place, even if UFC is what's hot
Colin doesn't know about sports
boxing ain't dead but it's not as big as before
Isn't that what it means to be dead.
boxing is dead
I love to hear colin talk the sports. He really can set the scene and put things in context.
IMO Top 5 fights
5. pedro rizzo vs josh Barnett
4. Dan Hendo vs Shogun 1
3. Mark Hunt vs Bigfoot Silva
2. Robbie lawyer vs Rory Mcd
1. Diaz vs Mcgregor 2
Not in particular order.
Honorable Mentioneds:
1. Takanori Gomi vs Nick Diaz
2. Aldo vs Mendes 2
3. Liddell vs Wanderlei Silva
4. Lawyer vs Manhoef
5. Lawyer vs Condit
I just took a screenshot of this. THANKS.
p.s. your TH-cam name is deep. keep being awesome
+Don't go there
Thanks...if you haven't seen it check out the Lawyer vs Manhoef fight favorite fight ever.
Edgar Vs Maynard 2
+obey propaganda sanchez vs guida
+obey propaganda melendez vs sanchez but the best of all time has got to be hunt vs bigfoot in my opinion
There wasn't a moment went Nate Diaz was gassed out. Next level cardio...
The amount of likes on this video shows how little people know about ufc or mma. Jones vs Gustafson was better, Hunt Silva was better, Guida Sanchez was better. Just pick a random lawler fight. The fight was good but not some amazing display of fighting
Nah you ain't gon do noootin. Get the fook out hea
hell no Alex and Jones was great but the drama and beef behind it is what makes this fight a instant classic this century
20/21 UFC "fighters" doubted Conor.
Who was the 21 ?
Brendan Schaub picked Conor
Kenny Florian.
His teammate Gunnar Nelson.
Bisping.
+jeremy warner I only saw Schaub and bisping
Could listen to Colin for hours! Thank you!
Great fight but not the best in the last 20 years...
It's easily Gilbert Melendez vs Diego Sanchez
+1234 looool sounds like someone has been watching the ufc for like a year lol
No life clowns.
1234 Possibly but made to 2016 bitches.
im a huge Conor fan but no its far from best fight in 20 years, maybe this year
guys dont u understand? Rory vs Robbie not only wasnt better fight but there is a reason hes talking about Diaz vs McGregor 2 and not Robbie and Rory. because that fight didnt matter, that fight didnt evolve the sport, that fight wasnt talked about on the streets. McGregor Diaz 2 was a legendary fight everybody knew about, it mattered and like Colin said, it killed boxing. because of this fight boxing fans are crossing over to watch the UFC
LOL does this guy watch MMA? There has been better fights than this. in fact There have been MANY fights better than this.
But not as high profile
Finally someone with a brain on TH-cam
I thought lawler v McDonald was equally as good.
that was a beautiful fight bro ur crazy
that was a beautiful fight bro ur crazy
That was an incredible segment, this is why people are following cowherd .. He speaks his heart and gives very valid opinions whether you agree or not. If you love MMA and want it to grow, you need mainstream guys like this finding a love for it also
I love the ufc.... I love mma... I do.. but dose anyone remember Castillo vs Corrales ???........
Condit vs lawler was better in 2016
McGregor vs Diaz 2 is better but Lawler vs Condit had the round of they in round 5
+Jose Aguilar there was no running in that fight!
Condit and Lawler are bums
Oh yes there was.
+Angel King dude its not runnin its reseting urself nate is a big boy u cant just keep runnin at him thats how he lost the first fight clearly he knew what he was doin he won right
why is he acting like he's looking at people when no one is there lmao
Cowherd is just jumping on the MMA bandwagon, this isn't even top 20 fights of the last 20 years.
Top 3 by a long-shot. been watching UFC since 1997. the days before OLJ and the rest of them running the show
+Ger Mang agreed. easily the most emotionally invested ive been for a fight ever.
Cowherd himself would tell he does not know much about ufc/mma, the guy is/was on radio for years, then got moved onto TV becuz of his huge fanbase and knowledge of sports on a whole..
Top 10 fights in the last 20 years forsure.
There was something poetic about what Colin Cowherd just said there. As I watched the fight, I realized these guys elevated MMA to another level. RESPECT
It was a great fight, but come on best fight in 20 years?
With all the shit that happened before fight and the way Conor came back after devestating loss, i'd say so.
Zero, You don't watch many fights then.
yea you can pull several fights out the vault to compete with this. lol it was a great legacy fight for conor but to say its the best ever lmao
It was an incredibly intense fight. I would say it's a top 5 within the past decade
So much fucking hype. NOt necessary. It was good but that's all. These casuals only see McG and Ronda fights.
Conor lift this game up to the whole new level. Huge respect for Conor
It was a war, but I don't know about the best fight in 20 years
Please let all know which fight(s) you think were better
Rory vs Mcdonald
Hunt vs bigfoot 1
Gustafson vs jones 1
I have been an MMA fan for a long time, and this fight was the best fight I have ever seen.
The rivalry between the two individuals, between the camps.
The all out war in the octagon from round 1.
Seeing the fighters getting gassed and anticipating their defeat at any second just to realize they get a second wind and keep striking back.
The emotions invested in your favorite fighter, as a Mc Gregor fan I just couldn't handle him losing again.
Watching this fight gave me goosebumps at every corner.
It was a great fight and I am glad i got the PPV to watch it live.
who is this white Morgan Freeman??
hilarious :)
5 years later this is still an incredible analysis
sick! 'boxing is dead'! mma done killed that shit!
"Best fight I've seen in 20 years"- I agree Colin.
Boxing is NOT dead. dont be a prisoner of the moment.
boxing has been dying for years hahah, the big names now are the last big names boxing will ever have
Lawler vs. MacDonald 2 was WAY better than this one.
name two boxers not named Mayweather..or Manny that you pay money time ex..on.. dont wurrry ill wait....
boxing may the best hugger win ..Mayweather. com hugs not drugs.com
@4:36.. he's CRAZY!! No UFC event will ever do 4mil PPV's.....
yes it will in few years EASY... GSP vs conor would do in 1-2 years do 4 million. GIve it time to grow just a little bit.
not 4 millie...
I agree. Boxing will always be supreme. big fights of Canelo vs GGG and ward vs kolorov. UFC has nothing on those 2 fights
+daBIGJuiCE619 they will never happen thats the difference and if they do it will be boring and both would be 50
Gsp vs Conor in a year or two? Isn't gsp old already?
That's the best description of that fight you will hear
not to bring this up but who hit the last shot in the Fourth quarter #NateDiaz I rest my case.
Fourth quarter? Lmao
+Quest4Truth he said he had even and I did to going into the final round and nate hit that 3 lol
it was a takedown but it looked more like they fell over from exhaustion. Shit was crazy I think you could hit Diaz with a tire iron and he would keep coming. LOVE how he was smoking a CBD vap pen at the PFPConference
Yup and it was game set match when nate got the takedown at the end, only problem was there was just 10 seconds left.
+QWERTYGameCenter I gave the second to Nate Diaz but ay at least we know in a fight to death Nate Diaz would kill Conor
Why so many haters? I thought this was a very interesting and well communicated segment. Dunno who you are but thanks for this!
Atleast he's not dramatic about it
I think what happened after this fight was a recognition of how great the mma has become. Even espn got off their pompous ass and recognized it as a sport that is being embraced by young and old alike.....and the blood issue...! good lord enough is enough....the fights in the 1930's were bare knuckle and no one ever stopped it.
This fight didn't kill boxing, Mayweather vs Pacquiao did.
Colin with the Luther acknowledgement. Respect!
Why is everyone hating of Herd for? He's giving love to mma. About damn time someone mentioned this sport in mainstream media this way.
I think when Collin says 'best' fight he means the most important, like the hype build up, the anticipation, it pushed the UFC passed boxing
Lots of salty Diaz supporters commenting. Sure, as purists there may have been better fights but never has there been this level of public interest, and on top of that a fight that delivered on the promise. Conor has elevated every martial artist on the planet and for that, Diaz supporters should acknowledge with humility.
The only people complaining/wondering if this guys knows anything are Diaz fans.. Accept the DEFEAT! Stop connecting Diaz winning to your own ego.
Lawler vs Macdonald 2
Shogun vs Hendo 1
Jon vs Gustafsson
Edgar vs Maynard 2
Cro-Cop vs Nogueira
BJ Penn vs Matt Hughes
Matt Hughes vs Frank Trigg 2
Aldo vs Mendes 2
And so many more that are just as good or even better.
Boxing will never die! Boxing will always reign supreme. MMA has its good fights like Diaz vs McGregor but other fights are garbage.
Rory vs Lawler was the best fight ever but this one is right up there. Aldo vs Mendes 2 and Jones vs Gustaffsson were insane too
This was great.
Spot on. One of the best analysis I've ever heard, faaaar deeper than anything you'll hear out there. Colin very well done.
The Conor-Diaz 2 and the recent Lawler-Condit was also epic.....
"wait wait, what the hell is a guillotine?" - colin cowherd 2016
I'm glad Colin is paying more respect to the sport, but he's got so much more to learn
Eddie Alvarez vs Michael chandler is an amazing aggressive war and will always have a special place in my heart, because I was flipping through channels one Saturday night and found bellator, and I had no idea what I was about to witness.
Anthony Joshua is KO ing people and you say boxing is dead
Griffin vs Bonnar, Melendez vs Sanchez, Lawler vs Macdonald, Aldo vs Mendes 2, Jones vs Gustaffson
There's 5 that are better
This was the best review of the fight I have seen on any media outlet. Spot on.
Now Cowherd is the resident boxing/ mma expert? Oh the humanity!
I was team Diaz the whole way, and will be in the threematch, but Conor won this one legit. Fought like a champ. Hats off to ya Mac.
Gambling is the ONLY thing that keeps boxing alive at all... very few true casual fans
Arturo Gatti VS Mickey Ward would probably be the best fight of the last 20 years
This guy didn't watch the Robbie Lawler vs Rory MacDonald 2 at UFC 189... This dude is playing! Get it together Cowherd
Boxing is definitely not dead, the 2 sports can co exist comfortably.Cowherds being way over the top.
The good old days.
lmao...that sloppy style of fighting was not a sport.
Nate is sloppy as hell too, that's why his face always gets fucked up and he could only touch mcgregor when he gassed both times
Those were both over twenty years ago....he quantified his statement with "in the last twenty years." They're close, but still...
+gee dee Nate has some of the best boxing skills in mma 😂😂
gee dee Nate has insanely better fighting skills than bums like Tank back in the day...and the fight he's talking about with Oleg was horrendous.
We all won!
Anna dominated the fight Point Blank
