Now the characters never aging makes sense. Since “Arthur” is just a recount of Arthur’s childhood in 3rd grade, we only got to see the stories of his childhood from that time. That’s why he always stays 8 years old. When they age up to today’s time, it comes full circle. In the end, the viewers were always in the present “aged up” version of Arthur, watching and listening to another chapter in Arthur’s book.
@@thechurchoflogicsinandlove619 I am a little confused. If it's a recount of his memories from childhood, how does it make sense that he's the same age at the dawn of the internet but also well into the age of tablets and smartphones?
@@JamesR624 Let alone the questionable future of Arthur & Francine as a ship that originated in the _Arthur_ books (such as _Arthur's Birthday_ & _Arthur's Valentine_ obviously) and the Living Books C-D Rom games adaptations (the two _Arthur's Birthday_ variants) before the show was made, as well as the original seasons of the show itself ("Arthur's Birthday", "Arthur's Valentine", "Locked in the Library", "School Dance", "And Now Let's Talk To Some Kids", et al).
True. It was really well done here, but the whole thing is a cliche. I have seen so many movies that do that. I remember when Futurama did it too. I agree with you btw.
I think that might be because the story of Arthur is, while yes based on a popular children's book, is not actually book/novel. We actually saw the story in real time, Arthur just wrote an autobiography about his life.
I don’t think that’s what it was. I think he decided his childhood and friends were worth writing about, and he’s just now going to start writing down the stories we have been watching for 25 years. A sweet ending!
Since Buster became a teacher, imagine him reading one of Arthur’s graphic novels to his students like how so many teachers read Arthur to their students in the real world.
@@nathenewendzel7806 In my defense, it didn’t even occur to me that the Kate Buster was referencing was Arthur’s sister Kate 🤷♀️. Even then, I felt that Buster gave off a more eccentric and goofy elementary/middle school teacher vibe than college professor.
@@valeriecee54 I wasn't correcting you. I was more of adding information. I originally thought Elementary teacher too. It seemed more like he'd teach Elementary or middle school. Then I did the math and it didn't check out with Kate's age if she were one of his students. Perhaps the show made an error and added too many years. He doesn't really seem like he's teaching college.
This is everything a finale should be, interesting, emotional and references to the point it all began. It’s quite sad that it ended, but at least it got enough popular and lived long enough to become an official iconic character. Good job, Arthur, and thank you. :)
Arthur will always hold a special place in my heart. Growing up, we didn’t have internet or cable tv so the only cartoons I ever watched were on PBS kids after school at 3:30pm, till the kids portion ended at 5:30pm. It was my fave to watch because it was the only colorful, non-educational animated series that they would show. The fact that I’m an adult now and the finale is revealing them as adults makes it feel like the characters grew up with me. Arthur is an author, Buster became a teacher, DW is a police officer, Muffy running for mayor, Francine a business woman… and then there’s me :^) a nurse
What's amazing is that Michael Yarmush returned to voice Arthur as his adult self including Marc Brown voicing as himself. They also referenced Baby Kate writing A BOOK about her communicating and understanding animals too!! What a way to go out man 🥺
I guess I'm a little confused how old they are. Is it supposed to be implying that buster is a college teacher? Because DW already has a career as a policewoman and she's only 4 years older than Kate
@@otheredits I wouldn't be surprised if they made little shorts or snippets of the show here and there. In reality though, I want Arthur, the show and the gang to become like The Peanuts are today :)
@@noremac7216 Maybe Busters a middle school or elementary teacher who teaches in 6th grade or 7-9th. It would make a lot more sense to tie that in w/Kate and DW
We not only see Arthur grown up but we grown up with him. We went to school with him, we hung out after school with him, and we all talked to him when he was there. Arthur was not only DW's big brother but he was OUR big brother, a big brother who was always there to check in on us everyday. Thank you Arthur, thank you for making everyday special.
I remember thinking how cool it would be when I will be older than Arthur (the character not the show). then the day came, I finished third grade it wasn't as great as I thought but even after this I thought of Arthur as this older kid like I used to think of my bigger sister.
I can't imagine how the people who grew up with this felt, but I do know that this show was legendary for 25 years. This is indeed a wonderful kind of show.
It was great to see Michael come back and voice Arthur one last time. This was a great ending to Arthur, and D.W got me laughing. This show was always my favorite Shows to watch in PBS Kids. Thank you Arthur for always making me Laugh and helping me learn.
After all these amazing years, it’s finally coming to a close. There’s no denying that this was our childhood. So many wonderful times we spent with this show, it had a truly special charm to it. Sure, it’s sad to see it end, but a show as amazing as Arthur will never truly die.
I can't believe it's finally over. This show premiered one year before I was born, and only now has it finally come to an end. It definitely puts a smile on my face to see how the characters have grown alongside both the show and us, the viewers. Bonus points for getting the original voice actor to play Arthur again!
I remembered getting home each day after school and switching the channel to PBS to watch this show. This show taught me morals, values, failure, success, and the power of friendship. Currently I’m in my third year of college and I was almost about to tear up when I saw the grown Arthur. And I think that was the most wholesome way to wrap up the show and explain the questions we had for it (eg. why Arthur never ages because we watched the novel of his childhood). He grew up with us, and like many of us, has now found his passions and is keeping in touch with the friends he’s closest to.
I love how there are so many grown adults that have continued to support Arthur after all these years. It truly shows how much of an impact Marc Brown and Arthur had on all of us. You'll never be forgotten Arthur 💕
It's really surreal that they'd do a timeskip, though I suppose it's fitting for all of the people who grew up with this show. Thanks for everything, Arthur, thank you for everything 🥰
I honestly love how it ended off, with Arthur becoming an author and rewinding that last episode all the way back to the very beginning of the story, and also how they were able to bring back the original voice actor to voice Arthur in his last moments on screen for the series. The creators behind Arthur did an amazing job wrapping the show up like this!
That’s amazing that they used the original voice to make it look like they grew up together, that’s by far one of the most creative choices to make for a show, and a lot of series could probably try that trick if it fits well with the character
One of my favorite things about Arthur is how it connects so many generations. It really is an experience that can be shared among all, even those to come in the future. It was really sad seeing the show end because it was basically all I'd known the majority of my childhood. Especially since I'd grown up strictly only on PBS Kids and no other entertainment channels, my choices were limited. Because of this, Arthur easily became my favorite TV Show and I loved reading the books as well. One of the reasons why I loved it so much was because I could relate to so many of the scenarios portrayed in the animated series. I'll never forget this show and the impact it had on my life, and I hope I can watch it with my future kids one day. Thank you, Mark Brown.
While I haven't seen Arthur since I was a kid, I can honestly say that I'm glad they brought the original voice actor for Arthur one last time. The final episode may not be groundbreaking but at least it ends the show nicely and it's being talked about online.
This is a great finale for Arthur imo. It maybe could have been longer, to show other characters; but overall it was nice to see a conclusion that ties the show together :)
What a great way to "end" a long-running children's show about kids in which the voices needed to be recast because they did not age, with a time skip that allows the original main character's voice to come back and bring it full circle. Yes, while the series is ending this won't be the last we see of these characters. As new short form online content will continue to be released Just like Phineas and Ferb, they left a lot of room to revisit later if they choose to
EXACTLY. Phineas and Ferb had a movie in 2020. Hopefully we will get much more future content for both shows. Really excited for whats to come going forward. 🤗
I think DW becoming a cop is terrifying given her naturally bossy attitude... and after every questionable character choice that came in the later seasons, I’m glad to see this show FINALLY laid to rest. Having Arthur’s original VA come back one last time was a thing of beauty. 😊
I was literally coming to the replies to ask the exact same question, what questionable character choices, although, I have to agree with you about DW and her career path, does no one remember the episode with her having the whistle. Shivers in abject fear.
@@nativewarmask9861 as I said, if I say what it is, it won’t be pretty... I’m sure if you hunt around for Arthur controversy from about 3 years back... you’ll find it.
@@a.m.theshinyjohtohunter4287 yeah, I actually figured it out, by simply watching the episode, where it was first mentioned, like I don’t really care, but I don’t feel like it was honestly necessary, because I really don’t think it added anything to that particular character, I think it was just done for the sake of.
Wow. Seeing this genuinely made me emotional. I spent many days watching Arthur as I got ready for school, and catching it after I was done with homework in the afternoons. A huge part of my childhood had these charming stories in it. It's nice to see the characters having grown up with grace, and still appearing as friends. I know it's not entirely realistic, but Arthur has always been somewhat idealistic about most topics anyway. And quite frankly, it's refreshing to have an ending where the kids grow up into actually happy adults with friends for once. As someone who's rather sick of the message that growing up means giving up on friends and dreams, I'm grateful for this happier ending.

Ratburn retired but works part time in the shop while volunteering in the library during his off days. Ms. Turner - She almost had to close the library due to budget cuts but with Muffy in office she was able to raise the funds to save it. The place got a small renovation donated by the Crosswire family. James (DWs Friend) - Became a Musician who is currently traveling around Europe Emily (DWs Friend) - Launched a French Fashion Brand Pal - At some point he found a dog to romance and they had a litter of puppies who Arthur just could not bare to let go so now they live at home with him. Pal did end up losing the ability to talk to Kate. Nadine - DW eventually grew up and would no longer talk to Nadine, but Nadine has stuck with her all this time. Somewhere in the near future she will come across an old drawing while cleaning out the attic and see her younger self along side Nadine. She will of course remember, it’s unclear if she will still be able to see her though. Stanley - Still in perfect condition having been in Grandma Tibbles attic, was eventually returned to Arthur. Binky - Struggled to figure out his life plan so he took a gap year and with his sister they visited China again to explore her heritage. He learned Mandarin and Cantonese although not fluently. Exploring the different cultures and wanting to share his experiences inspired him to pursue News Anchoring where he is striving to earn his own news segment revolving around world culture and food. DW - Kept in contact with Bud for a year after he moved but since they were young she eventually lost it. She loves being the authority figure and having any reason to yell at Arthur so it’s only fitting she would be a traffic controller / cop? Muffy - Considered taking over her dads business but realized she could branch out even further. She took up politics and is slowly making her way from Mayor to State Governor. Although her intentions are good, she’s firm with her actions. George and Wally - George took over the Sugarbowl after learning the current owner would retire and had to close down since no one could take it over. Having no time for Wally, George and his father created a special display where he now watches over everyone in the Sugar Bowl.

He now works at the local museum where he explains to visitors several facts about each exhibit. Rattles - The tough customers lasted for some time, until the college years when each of them went their own ways. Rattles studied marketing to please his father but realized his real passion was in architecture as it stimulated his brain and kept him thinking. He now works for the city. Slink - Like Binky, he took a gap year after highschool and took on small jobs. He followed Binky to college and got a degree in video game development. He created a small startup and is working on a Dark Bunny Revenge of the Moomies revamp. Rubella - She published a couple of astrology books under a pseudonym. She is now raising 4 kids and has moved to Crown City with her partner. Vicita - She is currently studying and is getting a degree in nursing. Binkys Mom - She is still working as a nurse and is anxiously waiting to be a grandmother. Harry Mills - After rekindling his relationship with Bitzi Baxter, the two got married sometime during the gap and are now top reporters at their new agency. Grandma Tibble - She is a bit older now and is worn out from raising the Tibbles but she still attends her weekend bingo sessions with Grandma Thora who can't seem to lose. Bionic Bunny - The show eventually ended it's run much to Arthur and Busters dismay, the season finale was sweet although left them with many questions that would continue to be answered in the comic book series that followed. Mary Moo Cow - After having been cancelled and then returned to air thanks to DW, the show continues to thrive for the next generation and sees no end in near sight. Arthur is not happy about it. Locations: Ice Cream Shop - Still remains open but the Brain no longer works there. As a teen, DW got her first job here along with the Tibble Twins who quickly learned how to be responsible. The Treehouse - Sometime in middle school, the gang planted a time capsule as they started spending less time together. They promised to return in 15 years to open it. @@kintsugis Nice. I'd just like to add that I'm pretty sure Sue Ellen would also be an activist and advocates for any important issues. Fern is also kind of a wildcard since though she's the quiet one, she has probably done the most. She was the lead singer in a band. She also was a theater actor. She implemented deep schemes which would definitely make her a good writer. I'd like to see the You Stink Band play again sometime. George would probably still do woodworks and ventriloquism in the weekends.
Even though I didn’t watch much of it growing up, Arthur remains as an important piece of a lot of kids’ childhoods over the past 25 years. I’ll still remember the few episodes I watched when I was bored until seeing the finale where it was a nice peaceful ending. Thank you Marc Brown and thank you Arthur Read for being a part of my life.
Buster points how he never knew Aardvarks have long noses. This is an in joke to how in the books, Arthur's Nose became shorter until we got the Arthur we know today. This also meant they couldn't adapt Arthur's Nose, so they went with Arthur's Eyes for the first episode. Michael Yarmush also did the voice of Slink, the rabbit with the black hair covering his eyes. Voiced him until his final voiced appearance. Speaking of Slink, a dream version of him appeared as "Old Man Slink" in Francine's dream sequence. A-113 is the classroom the Pixar animators worked at. I wonder if any of these animators went to that school. I liked the episode. It also reminded me of books like Jumanji, Zathura and of course Zoltar the Fortune Teller from the movie Big. It also showed that you never know what you're going to be, even if it seems out of place. Overall I felt it was a perfect finale for Arthur. A sad, but sweet end to my favorite show on PBS.
Seeing Michael Yarmush finish where it all started voicing a grown-up Arthur is pure perfection! Everything a finale should be (they really had to make Arthur look like a punk rocker, did they?). Anyways, congratulations, Arthur on a great run! We will miss you dearly. PS: Whatever happened to a few characters not seen here is really up to your imagination. I'm thinking: David and Jane Read: Age hit them hard like a freight train Grandma Thora and Grandpa Dave: Deceased Mr. Ratburn: Retired Mrs. MacGrady: Also retired, yet still doing everything she can to fight cancer The Tough Customers (Rattles, Slink, and Molly): All grown up with some personality changes The Tibble Twins: Also grown up, mellowed out and are in college Like I said, it's just up to your imagination. Don't take what I said seriously.
I wouldn’t want Grandma Thora to die yet, she’s like the same age as Mrs. MacGrady although MacGrady has cancer and there’s a 50-50 chance she might had passed away.
Are Arthur X Francine still a thing in this future like they were in the original stories, computer game adaptations & early seasons of the show itself? I mean, Francine's hairstyle is often stereotypically culturally appropriated as a LGBTQ+ haircut (although, as a pro wrestling fan, I identify it as the "Bull Nakano" look from the New Generation Era)?
This is one of the best series finales I’ve seen in a long time, I watched Arthur as a kid and enjoyed it but I kinda lost track after a while but would watch it from time to time. It’s always been a big question what the characters would grow up to be in the future and this perfectly answers it in only a few minutes, it’s also nice they got original Arthur voice actor Michael Yarmush to voice adult Arthur as I think it’s kind of poetic that it starts with him and ends with him, and the ending with Arthur’s book and it being the first episode is something that got me in the feels. (Funny thing when someone asked Al Jean showrunner of The Simpsons on how they would end the series he said they would have the family go to a Christmas Pagent which turns out to be the first episode Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire, but now that Arthur pretty much did that idea they are gonna have to find a different idea for the finale whenever that comes… ironic) My only complaint is that the finale is 11 minutes which I feel is kinda of blasphemous for a show that’s lasted 25 years. I feel like they should’ve made it a double length episode with the first half being the fortune teller stuff and the second half being the 20 years later segment, cause I would like to know what happened to other characters as some are kind of glossed over. But hey that’s just my take so overall a great finale to a series that has made such an impact on not just peoples lives but pop culture as well. We’ll miss you Arthur.
YOU WROTE AN ENTIRE ESSAY DANG. I agree with you, but the finale was good and utilizes its 11 minute run time properly. The ending was pretty good to be honest.
I was randomly recommended this video and I'm very glad it did. I watched this show 20+ years ago and didn't even know it ended. Good memories and good closure.
I loved the finale. Sad it's ending. I may have missed last season, but I wish we could have saw grown up Alan as well. I know they showed kid him in Buster's adult version, but would have been nice to see him. But I also thought maybe it's more realistic cause Alan was very smart and would have gone far away working else where, as least I like to imagine.
The ending was so perfect. Arthur becoming the author of the show Arthur and D.W. becoming a police officer were the BEST endings for them. Honestly, all of the jobs fit the characters perfectly, but they nailed the perfect careers for Arthur and D.W.
Well, my childhood is over, and I will live on to remember it. Arthur was one of those shows I watched a lot when I was younger. It's the show that introduced me to Arthur actually. I'll miss the show.
Me too, i used to watch it when i was younger back in 2018, it was my favorite show. My favorite part was the funding credits because it used to creep me out, but make me happy at the same time.
Arthur grew up with us. For some of us, he’s that friend we hung out with some time ago and just started reconnecting with now (like how most of us hadn’t watched the show in years and just got back into it). Just like how most of us are adults who continue looking forward to the future, Arthur will be there with us always.
Another legendary show has come to an end... Farewell Arthur and thanks for the 25 years of entertainment and I'm honestly going to miss the show, this is honestly one show I never thought would ever end at all
This is sad. It had to happen at some point... The finale is pretty good and we get to see them all grown up, which is amazing. Happy 25 years Arthur!!! 🎉 🎉
i havent watched arthur in years, since i was at least 9 or 10 years old. the finale was a great trip down memory lane. seeing and hearing the voices of characters i had pretty much forgotton about prior made me feel pretty nostalgic, and honestly really happy. i felt like i was that little kid sitting in front of the tv again :,) its satisfying to know that the story ended full circle, and how the stories adult arthur wrote about in his books were pretty much the stories/episodes we were watching all along ! also, i kinda like how they didnt really reveal what some of the other characters' careers ended up being because it lets the fans come up with their own theories and headcannons ! brain is smart, so he mightve become a mathmatician or a programmer, sue ellen likes travelling and writing, so she may have become a travelling journalist, etc. arthur was a big part of my childhood and im sad to see it end. but even if it is, the background music will forever be engraved in my brain :')
I’ve grown up with Arthur when my family had only a cable box with some local channels. It had PBS and introduced me to the show. I really loved the show. During after school I would wait to watch an episode of Arthur. I was a total fan. After some time I’ve grown up and we got cable tv. But Arthur holds a special part of my childhood. I will definitely go watch the final episode on TH-cam. Which is pretty good because I don’t have cable tv anymore and I don’t watch tv anymore. Just watching TH-cam on TV. But yeah. It is the end of an era. Goodbye Arthur ;)
I think I remember seeing that episode I don't know if it was a rerun or when it aired but i never realized tell now that was the final episode (some how)
Even Arthur managed to get a properly satisfying ending despite its really long run. It's like if Star Vs The Forces of Evil and Voltron were the only good animated shows never destined to have a good ending...
I thought it would be like Spongebob, Sesame Street, or The Simpsons where it would forever keep going. I actually like that it ended, so that it wouldn't end up like The Simpsons. I like Sesame Street btw no hate.
Okay guys, I want to you listen to me. The door to the board game room. It's labeled A113. That's an inside joke referring to the classroom that many famous graphic design and character animation students used, and is an Easter egg hidden inside animations including Disney and Pixar. Legit that is super cool.
Made me think of the finale of Phineas and Ferb because it also featured older versions of the characters. Now this is one of the best episodes of a cartoon I’ve seen in a while.
It was… pretty surprising to say the least. It felt like getting in contact with an old friend after so, so many years , catching up and seeing what they’ve accomplished. Arthur becoming an artist really hit home seeing as I’m aspiring to be one as well and I’m actually finishing my career in plastic arts. Plus I’m ALSO called Arthur lmao
Although I haven't watched Arthur for decades, it still remains one of my favorite PBS Kids shows and I loved how the series finale ended with bringing back the original voice of Arthur from the first 5 Seasons, Michael Yarmush as adult Arthur and having Arthur's creator Marc Brown doing a cameo appearance.
Whilst I am sad that the show has been ended, it is also bittersweet that Arthur followed in the footsteps of creator Marc Brown. Who, in an interview, says that the original Arthur books was based off his life as a kid. I also like the fact that the show goes full circle, with Arthur’s Eyes as the first episode and mentioned in chapter 1 of the graphic novel Arthur made. A short and sweet ending to the longest animating show of all time.
I never stopped watching Arthur. I’ve been watching it for as long as I can remember. My little brother still watches it and I always watch along. Crazy that in a few months I go to university. Thanks Arthur
As soon as i first saw grown up arthur on youtube, i thought it was just a fan-made animation until i realized it has a pbs kids logo. And thus proved it's official, arthur is a grown man in the finale. Even though i've never had experience watching the show, i think this is a nice farewell message for those who have watched on their childhood
Yeah! I’m glad it had a REAL finale instead of a normal episode and I’m glad it showed children the seriousness of Cancer, the seriousness of death, and the realization that people are different and that’s a good thing!
I cried once the show ended, I was at my grandma’s watching it. I’ve grown up with Arthur ever since I was a little baby, and it is really sad to see him go. Thanks for being in my childhood, my dude.
I think it's still a great finally that deserves respect. It let us know what happened to Arthur and company when they grew up. Everyone's doing great, and we can still think there lives are still happening without seeing it for ourselves
I'd always get excited to see Arthur when the teacher turned it on. It was a nice calming show to watch towards the end of the the day and I liked that it dealt with life and was believable in its subject matter. I also loved the music! As someone always having glasses of course I read the first book :) (and many more!) Ironically enough I'd often call Arthur, "Author" because the words sounded the same. How funny the character would end up AS an Author XD Thank you Marc Brown, and to the original VA for returning to reprise his role. I had an inkling it was him, happy to find out that's true! 💝 This show will always be great and will be there for generations to come. ❤
It was pretty cool that for the final episode not only did the creator Marc brown make a cameo on here and inspired Arthur and his friends but they brought back the first voice actor of Arthur, Michael yarmush as his adult self. Goodbye Arthur. You made each day of my childhood a wonderful kind a day” “Hey!”
I feel like the finale was very relevant to the now-grown generation of kids who watched Arthur. I watched Arthur as a kid and I’m now about to turn 18. Lately, I’ve been having an identity crisis because I’m almost an adult and I still don’t know what I want to do with my life. Seeing the Arthur characters going through that same uncertainty made me feel like I wasn’t alone, and seeing everything work out for them in the end was reassuring for me to see. Additionally, it made me realize that Arthur and his friends had grown up alongside me, and, once that realization hit me, I cried.
I sit here, a 32-year-old man, extremely touched,When I was a kid, I used to watch Arthur religiously, as I got older, when it was on, I would always sit and watch, it was good to visit again, in the last couple years I checked out some of the newer episodes, to see what they were doing with the series, and now, to know that it’s done, this is sort of shocking, to know that I was there in the beginning, I remember seeing Arthur’s eyes, seeing the development of so many characters, so many different ideas, and just so much change, it’s crazy to think of Buster as a teacher though, that one’s a little surprising, but In a way, not really, It’s like actually saying goodbye to an old friend, 25 years is a long time. So, from one A Riter to another, thank you, farewell.
God i remember waking up in a morning and watching this when I got home from school. Turing on the tv and listening to that classic intro music. While I didn’t watch the later episodes it’s still sad to see it go
It feels like a realistic ending from childhood then seeing other ending have adventures or finish big stories this felt real calm and nice and just nice to watch with family and friends.
Arthur was a show I watched religiously when I was younger and while I haven’t watched it in years, I tuned in to watch the last episode. A great series.
Man…I was abused as a kid and whenever I was at school I used to read Arthur books and my teacher would let us watch Arthur after we did schoolwork. I’ve come along way since then, and I just want to say thank you Arthur. Watching Arthur and many other kid shows saved me. It gave me happy times in a sad clock.
Now, I'm almost 20 so I haven't been with Arthur since the very beginning but I watched A LOT of it growing up to the point it annoyed my older brothers XD the theme still gets stuck in my head to this day. But I felt that the ending fit the show very well and I'm glad that everything came full circle, and having the original voice actor as adult Arthur was a very nice touch.
I can’t believe the show ended. It was a huge part of my childhood. Day by Day, things are changing even more. And this Pandemic made everything move much faster. I guess this is just life. All part of growing up.
I'm happy it had a long run. Yet sad it finally came to an end but the ending gave us viewers from day one a wonderful closure 💖 I am 27 years old and Arthur will always be my favorite cartoon.
I’m 27 too and Arthur is my favorite cartoon also! I was just talking on the phone with a friend so many of the takeaways this show gave me. Unique things I never seen in other shows
Talk about coming full circle. Having Arthur become an author is a good choice and bringing back his first voice actor to play him as an adult is very surprising. What a wonderful kind of day indeed.
Arthur was such a great show. I remember watching him everyday before school. When I was home from school due to an illness, I would also watch some Arthur tapes I had as well.
The end of an era...

Say hi to Alex for us! (1940-2020)
Oh yea!
Also explains the technology changes over the series, even though the children never age.
A perfectly meta yet still logical explanation
I often think the “the whole story was a book/ novel” is often overused improperly, but with Arthur is feels really well done.
Especially with the art style.
I don’t think that’s what it was. I think he decided his childhood and friends were worth writing about, and he’s just now going to start writing down the stories we have been watching for 25 years. A sweet ending!
MLP ended the same way with "The Last Problem" A time skip, and showing the book closing
Since Buster became a teacher, imagine him reading one of Arthur’s graphic novels to his students like how so many teachers read Arthur to their students in the real world.
He must be a College or University teacher if Kate is his student. 20 years would make her 20 or 21.
Oh my gosh YES
Buster is a college professor, wish we had seen an adult Kate in his lecture.
@@valeriecee54
I wasn't correcting you.
I thought it ended over 10 years ago, so Arthur lasted way longer than I thought. It has been on for more than 2 decades.

True. I think there will be more content coming soon. I am pretty sure shorts will eventually come out. Good ending, happy 25 years :)

“Arthur’s Perfect Christmas” is still one of my favorite Christmas specials.
This show introduced conflict a lot better than other children’s shows.

It was great to see Michael come back and voice Arthur one last time. This was a great ending to Arthur, and D.W got me laughing. This show was always my favorite Shows to watch in PBS Kids. Thank you Arthur for always making me Laugh and helping me learn.
D.W. being a cop oddly fits her. Now I'm worried that she'll abuse her power. 😂😂😂

After all these amazing years, it’s finally coming to a close. There’s no denying that this was our childhood. So many wonderful times we spent with this show, it had a truly special charm to it. Sure, it’s sad to see it end, but a show as amazing as Arthur will never truly die.
Still a bit upset we didn't see the brain in the ending dude was a legend
I'm interested in the programs that didn't get a series finale!!!!
I can't believe it's finally over. This show premiered one year before I was born, and only now has it finally come to an end. It definitely puts a smile on my face to see how the characters have grown alongside both the show and us, the viewers. Bonus points for getting the original voice actor to play Arthur again!
It premiered on the same year I was born. I was born 6 months before it aired.
What year were you born in
@@kathrynnpetersen8876 it first aired in 1996ish
A Legendary show for sure
I remembered getting home each day after school and switching the channel to PBS to watch this show. This show taught me morals, values, failure, success, and the power of friendship. Currently I’m in my third year of college and I was almost about to tear up when I saw the grown Arthur. And I think that was the most wholesome way to wrap up the show and explain the questions we had for it (eg. why Arthur never ages because we watched the novel of his childhood). He grew up with us, and like many of us, has now found his passions and is keeping in touch with the friends he’s closest to.
One of the best series finales ever. You couldn’t ask for anything more. Arthur definitely has a place in my heart and I’m going to miss it for sure.
The most beautiful shit ever. I wonder what Spongebobs last episode will be like. Only Time will tell.
I definitely agree with that. It will be missed

I mean, Arthur and his friends were kids for over 20 years. A Timeskip was inevitable.
Exactly. That caught me off guard, but it was a pretty good idea to be honest. Hopefully we will see more soon.
Yeah
Agreed
I do like timeskip finales. This reminded me of MLP and Harry Potter
As new short form online content will continue to be released
Just like Phineas and Ferb, they left a lot of room to revisit later if they choose to
EXACTLY. Phineas and Ferb had a movie in 2020. Hopefully we will get much more future content for both shows. Really excited for whats to come going forward. 🤗
I wonder about the other shows.
I think DW becoming a cop is terrifying given her naturally bossy attitude... and after every questionable character choice that came in the later seasons, I’m glad to see this show FINALLY laid to rest.
Having Arthur’s original VA come back one last time was a thing of beauty. 😊
What questionable choices? I’m curiously cuz I haven’t watched the show in years.

I was born 2001. God has blessed my life with parents who educated me with these shows and other PBS series. Arthur was my favorite.

Bitzy Baxter - Rekindled her romance with the reporter bunny and together they moved up in the news room. She is now the lead reporter for a big agency.
Mr Ratburn & His Husband - They adopted 3 children. Ratburns hearing loss worsened for a short period so now he’s completely deaf in one ear but he’s just as confident as ever. His husbands chocolate store is now a family owned one. Ratburn retired but works part time in the shop while volunteering in the library during his off days.
Ms. Turner - She almost had to close the library due to budget cuts but with Muffy in office she was able to raise the funds to save it.
The place got a small renovation donated by the Crosswire family.
James (DWs Friend) - Became a Musician who is currently traveling around Europe
Emily (DWs Friend) - Launched a French Fashion Brand
Pal - At some point he found a dog to romance and they had a litter of puppies who Arthur just could not bare to let go so now they live at home with him.

Arthur - Took over the comic book shop. He is now a published graphic novelist and runs a side graphic design business where he creates merch to sell in the comic shop
Buster - Taught Highschool but after hearing Ratburn would retire he went to take the class over. He is acknowledged by the students as one of the funniest teachers around. Although a bit weird with his conspiracies.
Francine - Although her dream was to be an Olympic medalist, she decided to pursue business which was a big challenge that she pulled through. Her expertise is in advertisement. She now has ads running during the super bowl and has a proud sponsorship with the green tale greebs.
When Ms McGrady died during her college years, she flew back for the funeral service along with everyone else. She sang a touching tribute.
Part 2 of my Head Canons
Carl - Sometime after the 4th grade, he moved with his mom but stayed in contact with George. A couple of years later they moved back to Elwood City.
Bionic Bunny - The show eventually ended it's run much to Arthur and Busters dismay,
the season finale was sweet although left them with many questions that would continue to be answered in the comic book series that followed.
Mary Moo Cow - After having been cancelled and then returned to air thanks to DW, the show continues to thrive for the next generation and sees no end in near sight. Arthur is not happy about it.
Locations:
Ice Cream Shop - Still remains open but the Brain no longer works there. As a teen, DW got her first job here along with the Tibble Twins who quickly learned how to be responsible.
The Treehouse - Sometime in middle school, the gang planted a time capsule as they started spending less time together. They promised to return in 15 years to open it. The Treehouse although a bit worn down, continues to be a safe space for any kid who visits.
Lakewood Playground - During a hurricane sometime after the gang left Lakewood, the playground was destroyed. A new playground was put in and is now better than ever.

I'm thinking:
David and Jane Read: Age hit them hard like a freight train
Grandma Thora and Grandpa Dave: Deceased
Mr. Ratburn: Retired
Mrs. MacGrady: Also retired, yet still doing everything she can to fight cancer
The Tough Customers (Rattles, Slink, and Molly): All grown up with some personality changes
The Tibble Twins: Also grown up, mellowed out and are in college
Like I said, it's just up to your imagination.
Happy 26th Anniversary to Arthur. I can't believe the show is finally over but I'm glad the last episode shows them grownup now.

I loved the finale. Sad it's ending. I may have missed last season, but I wish we could have saw grown up Alan as well. i havent watched arthur in years, since i was at least 9 or 10 years old. the finale was a great trip down memory lane. seeing and hearing the voices of characters i had pretty much forgotton about prior made me feel pretty nostalgic, and honestly really happy. i felt like i was that little kid sitting in front of the tv again :,) its satisfying to know that the story ended full circle, and how the stories adult arthur wrote about in his books were pretty much the stories/episodes we were watching all along ! also, i kinda like how they didnt really reveal what some of the other characters' careers ended up being because it lets the fans come up with their own theories and headcannons ! brain is smart, so he mightve become a mathmatician or a programmer, sue ellen likes travelling and writing, so she may have become a travelling journalist, etc. arthur was a big part of my childhood and im sad to see it end. but even if it is, the background music will forever be engraved in my brain :')
Arthur is one of the few kids shows that don’t talk down to children and can be enjoyed by any age and that’s something to really appreciate
I was watching it on nj pbs tv and wnet thirteen pbs when I was a little kid
@@RowanRoblox614 nice!
Big facts.
This is giving me memories to how Phineas and Ferb ended, with showing how all of their characters grew up.
I think I remember seeing that episode I don't know if it was a rerun or when it aired but i never realized tell now that was the final episode (some how)
Yeah I know
I can’t believe this show is finally over, it was my childhood 😭
I like how the grown-up version of arthur actually has hair
True, the hair caught me off guard. It looks good on him though. 👍

I'm definitely feeling old after watching that finale. I still remember watching the first season when Arthur premiered way back in the 90s
Arthur’s background music cues have always been gentle and memorable. I think they’ll be missed just as much as the show’s characters. 😊
@Sheldon sheldons a little b
@Sheldon did someone in a Barney costume hurt your feelings? I’m sure whatever cartoons you watched as a kid were as shitty as Caillou
@Sheldon Man, you grew up in the wrong era.
ohhh wow im tearing up that it is over but jeez it had a good run goodbye my fav cartoon you have a place in my heart
I haven't watched Arthur in in a long time but it's a show that I hold near and dear to my heart
Even Arthur managed to get a properly satisfying ending despite its really long run. It's like if Star Vs The Forces of Evil and Voltron were the only good animated shows never destined to have a good ending...
Never thought I would ever live to see this show end
That wasn't the finale. That was just a special released in season 4
The real finale was "The last day of Summer"
@@doraeguyakaneddie6586 oh sorry.
@@doraeguyakaneddie6586 yeah
Fair enough but that isn’t the last episode
It was… pretty surprising to say the least. It felt like getting in contact with an old friend after so, so many years , catching up and seeing what they’ve accomplished.
Arthur becoming an artist really hit home seeing as I’m aspiring to be one as well and I’m actually finishing my career in plastic arts.
Plus I’m ALSO called Arthur lmao
"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." - Dr. Seuss.
Agreed
@@tre-engines Don't forget trauma and PTSD.
How funny the character would end up AS an Author XD
Thank you Marc Brown, and to the original VA for returning to reprise his role. I had an inkling it was him, happy to find out that's true! 💝 This show will always be great and will be there for generations to come. ❤
@@SurfingPikachu17 I'm glad you have such an experience
@@redrasegarden Thanks, me too :) ❤
@@SurfingPikachu17 :)
It ends right where it started! And we got Arthur's original VA to come back too! Plus Marc Brown interacts with Arthur! Awesome
The mega marathon was a cool way to end the finale episode getting a chance to see old and new ones
Arthur is the most wholesome show ever
*Change my mind*
I feel like the finale was very relevant to the now-grown generation of kids who watched Arthur. I watched Arthur as a kid and I’m now about to turn 18. Lately, I’ve been having an identity crisis because I’m almost an adult and I still don’t know what I want to do with my life. Seeing the Arthur characters going through that same uncertainty made me feel like I wasn’t alone, and seeing everything work out for them in the end was reassuring for me to see. Additionally, it made me realize that Arthur and his friends had grown up alongside me, and, once that realization hit me, I cried.
Well, rest in peace Arthur. You gave us a great place in our hearts.
Jesus christ he wasn’t hit by a car Benjamin
Damn🥺 well done. We will all miss this show. 26 year's since it aired.
I wish Francine's adult design was the same from Arthur and the Square Dance episode
Arthur will always have a special place in my heart because I've been watching it for a long time it really brings back some childhood memories
I loved Arthur growing up. I can't believe this masterpiece ended but I loved it growing up
I sit here, a 32-year-old man, extremely touched,When I was a kid, I used to watch Arthur religiously, as I got older, when it was on, I would always sit and watch, it was good to visit again, in the last couple years I checked out some of the newer episodes, to see what they were doing with the series, and now, to know that it’s done, this is sort of shocking, to know that I was there in the beginning, I remember seeing Arthur’s eyes, seeing the development of so many characters, so many different ideas, and just so much change, it’s crazy to think of Buster as a teacher though, that one’s a little surprising, but In a way, not really, It’s like actually saying goodbye to an old friend, 25 years is a long time.
This show will be dearly missed
It makes sense that Arthur became an author because his last name is Read and he does in fact love to read
This show will never be forgotten
Arthur was a show I watched religiously when I was younger and while I haven’t watched it in years, I tuned in to watch the last episode. A great series.
Thanks for all of the great memories Arthur 😢😢
Man…I was abused as a kid and whenever I was at school I used to read Arthur books and my teacher would let us watch Arthur after we did schoolwork. I’ve come along way since then, and I just want to say thank you Arthur. Watching Arthur and many other kid shows saved me. It gave me happy times in a sad clock.
A satisfying conclusion to a 25 year old tv show
Now, I'm almost 20 so I haven't been with Arthur since the very beginning but I watched A LOT of it growing up to the point it annoyed my older brothers XD the theme still gets stuck in my head to this day.
Unique things I never seen in other shows
"Woah woah woah woah woah woah hey hey hey hey hey hey!!!"

Arthur’s original voice actor returns!
This was one of the best cartoon sendoffs i've seen, RIP Arthur you will be missed!
more like no. he will never be missed. he is still on pbs kids.
They might still air reruns and maybe still do stuff with the character
@@Abandonedforever804 There will not be new episodes.

We will remember Arthur
This was quite a pleasant surprise.
Talk about coming full circle. Having Arthur become an author is a good choice and bringing back his first voice actor to play him as an adult is very surprising. What a wonderful kind of day indeed.
So this implies they’re stuck in an infinite story telling time loop
Arthur was such a great show. I remember watching him everyday before school. When I was home from school due to an illness, I would also watch some Arthur tapes I had as well.
