I could imagine the Semple _in conjunction with NZ’s larger armament effort_ changing the strategic calculus for Japan: NZ may not have been as strong, but it wasn’t toothless, and it was intent on rapidly growing into a capable adversary; thus, it needed to be taken seriously.

You know the Bob Semple tank could destroy a Maus in just one hit? With the power of the mobile 80 cm cannon the Bob Semple tank can destroy any kind of tanks you could throw it in! Even planes were feared and murdered by the Bob semple tank, with its THICCC armor could even bounce a shell from the Schwerer Gustav, If you fire a shell at the Bob Semple tank then the shell would think twice before going to the Bob Semple tank, but instead the shell just returns to its rightful owners.
I'm going to say it, this design is downright ingenious. Sure it was no match for other tanks of it's time, but it was making use of easily accessible materials around and thus could make those easily accessible materials into better defensive things than if you didn't have it.
As stated, it was intended to be a mobile strong point, which tells me that the general idea might have been to use these as "pill boxes", and move them from one position to another as required.
Fun fact... When Britain declared war on Germany in WW1, New Zealand accidentally declared war 12 hours early. Because for some reason the entire government forgot to allow for the difference in timezones. 5:26 honestly though if you where playing battlefield or something and you had the choice of trying to take out a proper tank or this you'd probably c4 the other one. That machinegun coverage and quantity would be enough to scare most unarmoured enemies shitless. As a versatile battle tank it obviously wasnt the best on the block but they made a fucking moving machinegun nest out of a tractor and it's awesome.
This tank would've absolutely destroyed the enemy, the japanese would have trembled in place and then be gunned down by the machine guns. They say that if this was made much earlier then it could've won the emu war, it is this powerful. Praise the bob semple tank.
The kill dozer was much faster, had much more armor and could support vastly more weight. Had the killdozer been armed it could have easily exceeded the Semple’s firepower. To be fair though, Bob Semple had a much older platform to convert and there was only so much he could do.
To give him credit, he did what he could with what he had available in time and budget. Given a better production base, more budget, and better lead time (or at least two of those three), lots of people could do better.
8:00 It wasn't intended to be mass-produced and obviously Semple didn't think it could stand up to anything in the Pacific theatre. It was instead a mobile art installation, a sarcastic agreement with the Imperial Minister of War.
*_Fun Fact:_* The Semple tank is actually the deadliest tank out there because won’t need to shoot to kill your enemies. It will kill them once it’s seen by making them laugh to death
I mean everyone laughs at Bob Semple But he turned the New Zealand Railway Industry to produce a tank, with like the 0 Metal we Had Gotta Respect that lad
They point out that it would lose to an enemy tank because it has no anti tank gun but earlier in the video they mention that New Zealand had *no available anti tank guns to mount*
Is it really fair, though, to compare a hastily-cobbled anti-infantry tank to even a light tank? The designer simply didn't have access to large anti-tank guns. This Semple tank could have been an excellent and very effective weapon in some of the pacific theater fighting, much of which was mass infantry charges against machine gun nests.
To be fair Japan has crap tanks for their own at the time. What NZ created was not so much a tank but a mobile machine gun nest. Not saying it was a war winner but it would damage a Japanese human wave attack.

why did it need anti tank guns when the enemy tanks are too scared to even consider pulling a fight against this battlefield sweeper, if this beast were sent to the ww2 european theatre im sure the germans would on their knees and wouldve begged for mercy, if it were sent to the ww2 pacific theatre then the japanese wouldve ditched their tradition of death before dishonor and surrendered the second they see the tank

Let's ignore the fact it fell apart before seeing the first enemy... XD
The Bob Semple *could* destroy the Maus in one hit. (minimum drop height: 3000ft)

It was never abandoned. The NZ government secretly installed cloaking devices on all of them
Fun fact... When Britain declared war on Germany in WW1, New Zealand accidentally declared war 12 hours early. Because for some reason the entire government forgot to allow for the difference in timezones. Given the tense last minute negotiations between the major powers, it would have been super awkward if noone else had joined in.

5:26 honestly though if you where playing battlefield or something and you had the choice of trying to take out a proper tank or this you'd probably c4 the other one. That machinegun coverage and quantity would be enough to scare most unarmoured enemies shitless.

The kill dozer was much faster, had much more armor and could support vastly more weight. Had the killdozer been armed it could have easily exceeded the Semple’s firepower. To be fair though, Bob Semple had a much older platform to convert and there was only so much he could do.
IsiahR the kill dozer was armed. his biggest weapon was a .50 caliber rifle, he just didn't use them to kill people but rather infrastructure.
