I'm absolutely loving this series! I remember playing roughly half-way into this game many years ago, but never finishing. I'm very excited to see not only the ending, but how a MASTER plays this game!
The Second Wind is a lot like the GUT stat in Breath of Fire II which enables you to come back from being killed with a small bit of life. Basically if your GUTS are high enough you'll fight against dying. Ryu is a beast at it. It's really just a small thing that happens now and then in the game but it adds that extra spice to the battles.
You do have enough for the longSD after getting that 650 chest. The IronRP is Nina's best weapon till PRIMA, so it's definitely worth getting. But, that's just me....
The inner core of the Earth is primarily solid iron. The pressure there is 330 gigapascals, or about 47 million pounds per square inch, which greatly increases iron's melting point. The outer core is liquid iron and nickel. Scientists currently believe that the solid core is constantly increasing and decreasing in size as the iron on the border solidifies and melts as pressure and temperature fluctuates. The liquid core also has eddy currents due to the Earth's magnetic field.
The Earth's core is a solid iron-nickel ball (probably with some other stuff in it) about 70% of the size of the moon. It weighs about a hundred billion billion tons.
What I do for that long sword is I go down into the Nanai dungeon and make my way through part of it. I believe there are some chests with more money, which I'll come back and get once I have enough. Since I won't be able to return to the weapon shop after clearing that dungeon, I think it really helps to get it then.
Guessing what equipment and are supposed to be is half the fun of this game. :P For instance, since the ArmPad goes in the armor slot, I bet it was supposed to be like padded armor.
HC, correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure that the barbells in the shop are the symbol for pawnbrokers so that kinda makes sense. Also the centre of the earth is made of solid iron and nickel.
haha, my experience usually goes like this: "Hello, this..." *pauses to close other windows* "is HCBai..." *sets video to 480, or 720p, and the video resets* "Hello, this is HCBailly! Welcome back to Breath of FIIRE!!"
Man Im loving this game,I really like the music in that under the castle lava area,it's got a catchy beat.I wonder how long this chain of stopping the episode at a boss will go.
The most common are Snes9x and ZSNES. I haven't seen him savestate, or I could tell you with certainty. ZSNES just has plain white text in the cornor of the screen, while Snes9x has a little notification bar at the bottom of the screen.
HCBailly, do you think Breath of Fire 2 or Breath of Fire 3 is a better continuation of the Breath of Fire 1 story? Seeing how both sequels reference stuff from the BoF1 ending and it's aftermath.
Ok thanks for letting me know man cuz I have a GBA emulator not an snes one unfortunately and this game looks good! So that's for letting me know that!
In the GBA remake, I feel the bosses had more health in their second winds. The boss here definitely took a few turns more than the 1 hit you needed. Unless I was just horribly underleveled from where you were :P
47 million pounds per square inch! Let's get some perspective on that. Earth's gravity at sea level is 32000 pounds per square inch IIRC. We are all used to that. Some quick math tells me that it's nearly 1500 G forces more than what we are used to. Astronauts have training that lets them experience up to 9 G force I think. Holy balls!
I fought the upcoming boss before seeing this episode. Damn, I didnt use those stones I found, saving them, but needing the Cure after using up like 15 Herbs to win -.-. I dont think I should worry about it, but still >.
I want to know where the clue was that you were supposed to show up at the city at night. Because I've been wandering around for hours and wondering where I need to go. I thought I had to somehow go around and approach the town from the other side. I had no idea the day/night cycle would play into this part.
He's right. You really can't have earthquakes without lava or more specifically magma. The movement of the molten rock moves the lithosphere's plates and if they move the wrong way, it'll cause an earthquake. That's basically the gist of it. >.> Hey the more you know...
It just ocurred to me. Getting a counterattack at the wrong moment can kill you. You've got the boss down to his last few HP, but you're at 10 or so HP, so you select Herb. He goes first because your ACT is terrible, gets in a hit which reduces you to ~4 HP, and you get a counter which reduces him to zero, and thus immediately ends the round. That counter will have rendered the battle unwinnable. Your opponent will go first again regardless of what you do, and you cannot survive his attack.
the only diference is satured colors, worse music, better layout for menu and items, a few cutscenes, and multiplayer ONLY to change items so yes, you can use this guide, the 2nd game on the gba also has X4 in exp and gold per battle, i dont remember if this version also has that
+Alakazam3K Actually, as Azurus said, the inner core is solid. The pressure at those depths greatly increases the melting point of those metals, or something. I don't know, I'm no geologist!
Also, as Nanai blows up, if you don't get the LongSD now, you'll have to wait a damn long time for one. And if you don't get the IronRP now, you can NEVER get one, as it's lost forever.
Some people are under the strange impression that a stealth game is only allowed to have stealth in it. In other words Iyamtebist thinks he's refuting Metal Gear's status as a stealth game by providing a single moment of the game that isn't focused on stealth.
HC Bailey, you may wanna mention that the level ups in this game are RANDOM stats when you level up. (If you wanna test it, save when you're close to a level and then get your level, note the stats, reset, repeat) It's kinda annoying, because you can get some VERY bad level ups.
Before you destroy Nanai, it’s recommended that you buy the IronRP for Nina at Nanai’s weapon shop. The IronRP can’t be bought anywhere else in the game nor can it be found in treasure chests. When you get to Nina, equip the IronRP on her.
@@davidhill8565 That's correct, which is a lot more than what little damage Nina can do with her physical attack to a single target, let alone multiple targets with the E.Key.
HCBailly Therefore, IronRP being a fifth wheel is the reason why it could only be bought in Nanai. Nina is accompanied by anonymous soldiers when you first use her. The E.Key would let her fight solo.
wow you are doing way less grinding than i usually do for this game. i try to get to lvl 7 or 8 in the castle before moving on. that lets me get the long swd and makes the rest of the game way easier.
I'm absolutely loving this series! I remember playing roughly half-way into this game many years ago, but never finishing. I'm very excited to see not only the ending, but how a MASTER plays this game!
Magma, is what you're thinking of. Lava is when it's above the surface.
I haven't played this in over 15 years and yet, all the songs are coming back to me after a couple of notes..!! Gotta love snes music!!
"Oh hi there, warrior! Welcome to my hou... Oh, ok, just take my stuff. That's cool, that's cool."
Ah another great lets play from the master himself.
The Second Wind is a lot like the GUT stat in Breath of Fire II which enables you to come back from being killed with a small bit of life. Basically if your GUTS are high enough you'll fight against dying. Ryu is a beast at it.

"ArmPad" might be "Padded Armor" - would make sense since it's a chest piece.

Yay for HCBailly. You always seem to come along when I'm bored and no one else is uploading.
Ah, Breath of Fire, quite possibly the Pioneers of the Multi-Phase Boss Battles.
The Earth's core is a solid iron-nickel ball (probably with some other stuff in it) about 70% of the size of the moon. It weighs about a hundred billion billion tons.
Let's get HC to 100k followers. This master lper deserves it
HC should do BoFIII some time
I really liked this whole Night and Day Mechanic of the Game. Especially since they even bothered to use this a puzzle!
09:29 Wait...the weapon store clerk is bowing? Nice animation.
"Just press the B button, it'll cancel your auto battle."
If only it were that easy in SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI 1 AND 2!

It's a 16-bit jrpg and it's awesome.. of course it's on SNES ;)
I really rally like the music that plays when you go in the houses
HCBailly, are any of the other BoF games anywhere in your sights for a future LP? Or is this is only one you're familiar enough with to LP?
i wish breath of fire had been a main Lp instead of a side LP
@@lordBritish1 i made that post 7 years ago i do not remember why i said that

Wow, interesting boss mechanic. I wonder if I should give this first BoF a go, or try for the nth time the second one :x
This games has really neat elements.
HC Bailly: Hello, this is HC Bailly...
Me: *pause video* ...and I need another beer to drink..."On let's play Breath of Fire"
Yes you can, the run command is the 3rd one from the left just beside the AB command
i love how that death sound or when something gets hit, also from megaman X when u hit stuff with a charged attack xD
The most common are Snes9x and ZSNES. I haven't seen him savestate, or I could tell you with certainty.
ZSNES just has plain white text in the cornor of the screen, while Snes9x has a little notification bar at the bottom of the screen.
Ah Metal Gear solid. The "stealth" game where you fight a giant robot with a rocket launcher.
Me too! It took me 2 or 3 hours to beat him, the second time I made sure to level up a LOT more.
HCBailly, do you think Breath of Fire 2 or Breath of Fire 3 is a better continuation of the Breath of Fire 1 story? Seeing how both sequels reference stuff from the BoF1 ending and it's aftermath.
the shop menu "weight" is actually arrows pointing in 2 opposite directions ;D
Hurrah! A new episode.
Ok thanks for letting me know man cuz I have a GBA emulator not an snes one unfortunately and this game looks good! So that's for letting me know that!
You did. I spent an entire floor poisoned until I reached the fountain.
I'm really curious how you'll do a certain point myself since you said you would only grind once which you did in #1 of this series.
Just like in real life, a cornered mouse will never fight.
I always end up calling out "Spell Cardo!" for the bosses in this game xD
Not quite. While you are correct that the situation would be almost entirely hopeless, a small (and very lucky) miss is always possible.
I have seen a few of your LP and I'm wondering what emulator that you using? I'm see a lot of them and I want to know witch one your using
The center of the Earth is not just solid, it's Metal Gear Solid.
You can play Bof on the snes or gba
In the GBA remake, I feel the bosses had more health in their second winds. The boss here definitely took a few turns more than the 1 hit you needed.
Unless I was just horribly underleveled from where you were :P
I always thought you could time a slam by hitting the attack button right before you hit them (or at least increase your chances). Is that not true?
What a thrill. Ryu dragon eaaaaaaaaaaaattttttttteerr.
Two videos in a row with the boss waiting in the ending.
That's true.
So, the counter only vastly reduces your chance of victory.
Oh gosh, the second boss. The first one already kicked my ass, the second... hahahahaha.
47 million pounds per square inch! Let's get some perspective on that. Earth's gravity at sea level is 32000 pounds per square inch IIRC. We are all used to that. When I was playing this game (following your LP), I never encountered a Poison Bug in Camlon Castle. I guess I got lucky?
While on the subject of other games, HCBailly, what about the Ys games?
I fought the upcoming boss before seeing this episode. Damn, I didnt use those stones I found, saving them, but needing the Cure after using up like 15 Herbs to win -.-. I dont think I should worry about it, but still >.

4:12 is where the NPC tells you to sneak in at night.

The earth has a core of solid iron and Nickel I believe, which gives the earth it's magnetic field
Ryu? RYU?! RYUUUUUUUUUUUUU!
Ryu just use haduken
it normal the ArmPad goes into the body armor slot, cause it a armor pad or padded armor.
the music in the town of sleeping soldiers sound eeriely similar to ff 7 music.
That sounds like the "timed hits" from Super Mario RPG.
the only diference is satured colors, worse music, better layout for menu and items, a few cutscenes, and multiplayer ONLY to change items
so yes, you can use this guide, the 2nd game on the gba also has X4 in exp and gold per battle, i dont remember if this version also has that
The centre of the earth is actually solid. I believe it's made of nickel? It's cause by an affect called pressure cooking. :]
I wish this was his main LP atm
cant you escape/run from any battles with the random encounters?
HC can I play the GBA version and play along with this lp and not have any differences?
I always saved my stones for a certain boss later on. Dunno why, because I only ever had problems with him the first time.
Yes he is a Master!
all for sora! (translation: all stat boost items go to the main character)
what is the max level you can get up to any ways?
The core of the Earth is a ball of molten iron and nickel I believe.

yes. the boss is a frog. makes sense right?

I got lucky and found W. Antlers, they fetched me a nice 1.3k and I was lucky enough to get the longsword!
It's a solid core of nickel apparently.
Can you make a better abbreviation using only six characters?
I suppose it was just to emphasize my point. Obviously it is still a stealth game either way.
HC Bailly, Scientists believe the core of the Earth is mostly solid nickel/iron surrounded by liquid nickel/iron.
