I've had squid before. It's nice when you get it for free working at a sushi restaurant. Nice and deep fried in tasty tempura batter with a nice tempura sauce for dipping. Bit chewy but oh so good.
2:00 That's the only problem with the Rang: if you turn into Drake (ST) form while using it, Ryu will automatically target the first enemy :/. Usually, there's only one enemy to target, but not here. 6:30 Yeah, and you won't have it for some time, either 7:30 YAY TENTACLES
I've had squid, not alot of flavor by itself, but if you cook it right and have it with other stuff (I had it with Brown Rice with various herbs and a type of sauce as well as at least one other kind of meat with it, went well with all of it.). Heard Squid Ink can be used to make a very good pasta dish.
No. When you use the Mrbl1, you are actually throw it at an enemy, to guarantee a Slam, as a replacement effect of a regular attack. That's how they work.
Actually, by amazing coincidence I had grilled squid today, AND breaded calamari. As well as octopus in takoyaki form AND taco form. Seriously, I shit you not. This was TODAY.
11:00 Nah, I think you're confusing him with Myria in the third game (not so much this game though...). He, and Myria/Tyr (yay Woolsey thinking the *villains'* names were limited to four characters as well?) in this game for that matter, seem to be all "attack attack attack conquer everything blood for the blood gods!", and something tells me they probably wouldn't even care if a good number of their subordinates die as long as they succeed in the end. Hell, Myria probably didn't even care about Zog here! Also, this is still one of my favorite parts of the game. It has everything: cheesy convos, tentacles, "LOOK AT THAT DAMAGE!" bits, multiple bosses in quick succession (and I'm just counting the second Knight, Squid, and Octo here! But it's a good chance to get your fill of the boss music due to the other event battles here using it), even MASSIVE EXPLOSIONS! Heck yeah! Also also, something I've been wondering for a while: why is it that the Dark *Dragon* Army has so many high-ranking members who transform into stuff other than dragons? I guess for variety's sake as far as the "game design" explanation goes, but what's the in-game explanation? Did Myria, or whoever or wherever they got those powers from (pretty sure the intro says it's Her), decide to go with forms that reflect their personalities or some shit? Is it like some Dark World from ALttP type thing where that's just how the boon She used worked and no one, not even Her, could make a different choice? Was some of Her dragon-phobia antics from the third game foreshadowed and reflected even here, with Her only giving the leader and the grunts that form (and the grunts can only use it for transportation, limiting how powerful Dragons were as a whole)? Or is it meant to imply they conquered and assimilated other races/clans/whatever, and those were initially people who surrendered and were forced into the army? 14:25 Also, should mention that the characters are walking automatically here. Your only chance to get those chests (including the chest-of-drawers with the V. Ptn...and yes, I am in fact legally restricted from spelling the names out :P
Wow, the translation is all over the place, it's kind of hard to follow. Silly Ted Woolsey. Also, whenever Ryu uses the Thunder Dragon spell, it makes me think he is gonna take damage from the lightning animation. XD
Reply to Almighty Rarity: There are some points in the game where Ryu actually talks. I'm a little bit surprised HCBailly didn't take into account that the fish salesman was named Gobi. Heh.
I'll mention it, maybe demonstrate it a little, but ultimately, not use it. I think it's far too tedious for a game that is already easy enough without the available equipment.
I believe you are mistaken chap, He isn't using it one round , then attacking next round for a crit, the round you use the marble is the same round you land the crit. Would be rather useless otherwise.
So....once the Dark Dragons boarded the stolen ship, where'd your captain go? Did they execute him? He doesn't go with you to that island. Also, Gobi's section coming up. My least favorite part of the game...I hate Gobi.
Hooiie! a poorly written sound effect used in as a cheer. Example would be a cowboy screaming Hooiie when something kick ass just happened. There are other conotations, but that's the one used in game. The More You Know.
And to think I had faith in your OCD. Alas. I'm one of those guys that's never satisfied with less then perfect equipment. Whether it's NEEDED or not is utterly irrelevant to me.
Can you use the Marble1 with anyone and give it to Ryu? Using him for it negates any benefit from it, as you would have done 195 without it, so attacking twice (one for the marble turn, one for the attack turn) is the same damage as the marble hit (390). So all you're doing is wasting money by using the marble1.
Umm...you do attack the same turn you use the Mrbl1. Using it doesn't waste your turn. Your comment reminded me how annoyingly stupid I find a lot of "charge" abilities in these games though. Usually, it's more efficient to attack twice than to charge, then attack (deals the same total damage...if not more, but half the damage is done faster so the enemy might die earlier. Plus, when a game has a damage limit, you might be hurt by that if you're charging, then attacking). In fact, the situation's so bad that exceptions to the rule end up throwing me off guard (for instance, I was legit shocked when HCBailly explained that the Monk's !Store ability in Final Fantasy V took only half a turn to use, but dealt double damage!). If only Square would just stop doing that shit and just let Dragoons Jump for triple damage one of these days!
"You dirty rat! You beat my brother!" Gotta love Woolsey. :)
She's gone from suck to blow! ...man i laughed so hard!
Love that movie ;)
Maybe the grass has dew on it and that's why it is glittering.
I've had squid before. It's nice when you get it for free working at a sushi restaurant. Nice and deep fried in tasty tempura batter with a nice tempura sauce for dipping. Bit chewy but oh so good.
i lold irl before the 1 minute mark, gonna be a good episode !
17:44 You're not supposed to talk, mister!
Wait, Ryu SAID SOMETHING?! I thought he was a silent protagonist in the series?
2:00 That's the only problem with the Rang: if you turn into Drake (ST) form while using it, Ryu will automatically target the first enemy :/. Usually, there's only one enemy to target, but not here.
6:30 Yeah, and you won't have it for some time, either
7:30 YAY TENTACLES
You are not stealing that ship...you are commandeering it.
"IS THAT A MOUTH ON YOUR FOREHEAD?!?!! ...Anyway.
HC, it's moments like these that make me love you.
So the main protagonist CAN talk!
Squid is delicious if it's fried. It also makes good sushi. :)
Also, I loved the part where they blew up the ship. Stupidest idea ever, but it worked.
If I remember right you can use the Dark Key the same way as the Light Key and change it to Night.
I've had squid, not alot of flavor by itself, but if you cook it right and have it with other stuff (I had it with Brown Rice with various herbs and a type of sauce as well as at least one other kind of meat with it, went well with all of it.).

Looks like the Dark Dragons are still outsourcing, this time apparently to the Squid Clan. =P
7:20 "You're good... but I'm better!"
17:00 "If I go down, I'm taking you with me!"
What is with these Squid Generals and Starfox 64 Quotes!?
I've had squid. The texture is a bit odd if you haven't had it before, but it tastes really good.
Thanks for spoiling what will happen in the beginning of next episode.
Alfador! My favourite video game kitty!
thinking of the G.Bar as granola bar makes it much easier to part with
Their base power is weaker, but are different elements. There are times when they are useful, but they are seldom.
I've eaten squid at a Korean BBQ - delicious. I recommend it.
the sudden urge to start watching Back to the Future...
I've eaten both squid and octopus. Both are delicious served HOT. Cold, not so much.
I've had squid and octopus. It's really good; but ONLY if it's cooked right. Cook it too long and it gets really rubbery.
No. When you use the Mrbl1, you are actually throw it at an enemy, to guarantee a Slam, as a replacement effect of a regular attack. That's how they work.
Wow, HC, nice Spaceballs reference therer.
I can't help myself...Thank you "Shadow the Hedgehog" with that one particular battle against Dr. Eggman.
Dr. Eggman...what do they say? 11:59
What if the grass is covered with dewdrops? couldn't that have a glittering effect?
Actually, by amazing coincidence I had grilled squid today, AND breaded calamari. As well as octopus in takoyaki form AND taco form.
Seriously, I shit you not. This was TODAY.
Woot a new video =D
It's a cat from Chrono Trigger. I like that implies. ^_^
I have had calamari. Its really good.
So HC, word is already out about the FFX HD remake. What are your thoughts about it so far? Do you think it'll be started in 2013, if possible?
11:00 Nah, I think you're confusing him with Myria in the third game (not so much this game though...). Jw are u going to show off the other dragons just wondering idk if any one ask u this already
ever play white knight chronicles HCBailly? i think you'ed like it
2:16 Goddamnit Ross!
HCBaily: Are you going to use Karns "Skills" once you meet the prequisites for them? ;D
Don't forget the flea market. Or at least, I wouldn't forget the flea market. It's the cheapest way to get most of the best stuff in the game.
Squids are tasty. I recommend smoked tentacles.
So HC Baily is going to do Chrono Trigger soon?
Why are Dark Dragons turning in to squids instead of dragons...?
There was a significant lack of crab legs in this video.
14:55 A couple seconds late on that "Boss Time!"
He'll be doing a Chrono Trigger DS LP this time.
*Next* Main LP ? I thought HC already did Trigger and Cross both? O.o
Wow, the translation is all over the place, it's kind of hard to follow. Silly Ted Woolsey.
Also, whenever Ryu uses the Thunder Dragon spell, it makes me think he is gonna take damage from the lightning animation. XD
Something's fishy about that merchant. (stupid joke I know but I couldn't resist)
Forgive me for asking this, HC, but what is your current profile picture of?
poor 6:41 guard, it was his last day on the force and he is eliminated in a battle that doesn't even get screen time
What even happened when the screen was spinning around?
"My brother will seek revenge!
Crash!"
...? O_o
1: My Grass is greener than yours! :D
2: My Grass glitters: >:D
1: D:
Reply to Almighty Rarity: There are some points in the game where Ryu actually talks.
I'm a little bit surprised HCBailly didn't take into account that the fish salesman was named Gobi. Heh.
17:43 - You can talk?
So the Dark Dragons hire were-squids?
Squid or calamari is delicious HC.
Why can't I hold all these cannonballs?
Nina says i dont know about the fish guy, probably cause she is a bird and might eat him!
He's redoing Chrono Trigger but this time from the DS version.
I have tried calamari a few times.
:O A MAIN CHRICTE ROF A JRPG TALKED
So I guess they let the captain drown since he's not a party member?
The dialogue seemed pretty crazy in this episode
HCBailly,I have a message from the future.
The future says hi!.
Tacoctopus? Sounds... I don't know how that sounds, actually. xD
You can talk to use from the future HCbaily...ANNOTATIONS!
11:45 UHH... PRIMA? WHAT'S PRIMA? DO THEY MAKE STRATEGY GUIDES THERE!?
I'll mention it, maybe demonstrate it a little, but ultimately, not use it. I think it's far too tedious for a game that is already easy enough without the available equipment.
wat happened to yur laharl emblem
oh boy, next part is my "favorite" part of the game. Fucking Aquaman.
cat from Crono Trigger
I forgot how dumb Karn's battle sprite looks in the US version. I can't wait 'till he gets different battle sprites later.
I believe you are mistaken chap, He isn't using it one round , then attacking next round for a crit, the round you use the marble is the same round you land the crit. Would be rather useless otherwise.
7:32
Let's HOPE it's a mouth.
No, Space balls.
So....once the Dark Dragons boarded the stolen ship, where'd your captain go? Did they execute him? He doesn't go with you to that island. Also, Gobi's section coming up. My least favorite part of the game...I hate Gobi.
Title: (insert Ultros joke here) -_-
I think it's from chrono trigger.
Oh boy, the next part is a real kick in the shins... ugh....
Hooiie! a poorly written sound effect used in as a cheer.
You're good... But I'm Better.
Can't let you do that (Ryu)
1:1:50 prima vista? :D
Can you use the Marble1 with anyone and give it to Ryu? FF 6 :X
Relm and Uncle Ulty
I had squid befor
You know, i thought it was always kind of lame that these two bosses were both the same thing, just recolored...
You're good, But i'm better!
Sounds like starfox 64
desert island? what desert island?! How dare you spoiling it is an island before they explain it 5 seconds after!!!
I'll be honest, this is probably the most boring rpg I have experienced. Nothing against your LP.
