Unless they updated from Source engine (lol valve using a new engine), I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually get ported mechanics/vr functionality into Gmod at the very least.

Watching this in 2022. Bonelab just released a few days ago. It’s crazy to think that this amazing game - boneworks - truly revolutionised vr, to the point where the expectation is that u are able to use the environment to ur advantage like throwing crates or boxes and so on. It’s mad to think that vr before this was mostly un-interactive. The only way u could take ur enemy down was to shoot them. Absolutely amazing even to this day. Massive props to all of stress level zero.

@@Crowbar Valve worked with SL0 to make Boneworks I believe, but at the same time I think they've been developing ALYX in many different forms as technology advanced, so they constantly were trying to keep up and finally made it after more than a decade

Normally people are most creative when their budget is limited. I mean look to what happened to GoT... Their first season had a relatively small budget for a production of that size.

I'll never forget that one time I was fight a bunch of those spider things. I ran out of ammo and didn't have enough time to reload before one of them jumped at me. I turned my M16 around and smacked it with the butt of the gun. It stopped in mid air and fell to the ground stunned. I it gave me enough time to finish reloading and start shooting again. It felt badass!
I find it sad for the state of the industry, that being a regular, functional videogame is actually a selling point... I'm not talking about this game, or VR games, but about gaming in general.

This game will definitely hold us over until Half-Life Alyx comes out. I think this game is going to be really good for setting a standard for interactions in VR. HL:A is probably going to set a narrative standard for VR. Either way we are all still winning.

Seems like a legit review, considering that most VR games before that were either just small demo sandboxes or poorly optimized remakes of older games, while this is s complete game that was designed for VR.

- Toothpick - i love H3VR as well, but it’s not so much a game rather than a simulator. As much as I enjoy take and hold and Rottwieners, boneworks definitely seems like a full story with physics puzzles.
This is insane, the way that everything interacts realistically and the fact that you do things how you choose instead of how the game wants you to is so cool!
That clip at 3:27 is a great example of the potential for VR. You have to stop thinking of solving problems limited by the physics engine, and instead think of how to solve them like you would in the real world.
I love what boneworks offers to vr. I just wish it was for psvr, as I can't afford the "real" vr. It's a great game, even just to watch. Keep up the good work.
Yeah, VR is not stagnating. Valve gave us the best experience with Index and Oculus is pushing for cheap alternatives. This game + Half-Life Alyx will be a big push for VR. Let's hope Sony can come up with some good VR games, and a new and better headset with the PS5.
@@drieshuybens4594 I've heard the oculus controllers are better but the vive headset is higher quality. The vive pro and the other high dollar models are unarguably better than the rift s though. Better tracking and much better screen clarity
Bought it this past friday. I spent all weekend (when I wasn't watching football) in this game. I love it. Having to actually grab things to move around in order to solve puzzles, things jumping out from around corners or from behind crates, the gun play, suspense, eerie music, it's just so fun. Thank you for this game! It works with vive controllers, but I really can't wait to try it with the valve index controllers one day. Again, thank you and job well done!!!
I wish you luck in being able to save up! I know it's super hard. This game will probably never come for it, but playstation VR is extremely affordable compared to pcvr and has a good number of high quality exclusives. I bought it at launch 3 years ago and have zero regrets. Over those 3 years I saved up and now I'm getting a pc headset. I can't fucking wait. The index is all sold out though 😭 I'm probably gonna get the rift s since it's $600 cheaper

2020 has been the offical year for VR to take off. Thinking about this, Alyx, Squadrons, Medal of Honor, all the indies, Quest 2 came out, etc. It's been a shit year for a lot of us, but it has finally happened. There's no stopping the imminent explosion that will occur in 2021 and beyond. The world will never be the same.
i have played this game for over 1000 hours and i still cant get enough of it. i cannot describe in words how to say how absolutely fantastic this game is and im truly sad some people get motion sick and cant play this game or that this game did not get as much popularity as it deserves
@Bread Guy Lmfao yes it is. Not only does your computer need to render the game twice, one for each eye, but it needs to run at a high resolution and high frame rate. VR is *extremely* high performance. It is a simple fact dude. Just look at the minimum specs of any half decent looking VR game. You need a monster PC for most games.

So my Valve Index arrived today. Its my very first VR headset, and I bought boneworks to play. After some initial motion sickness I quickly became accustomed to the movement system and it wasn't a problem anymore. Guys, this game is amazing. I spent 2 hours just playing around with guns and physics objects. I haven't even completed the tutorial levels! Its been exciting to see the update videos and new feature showcases as the game's development progressed, and now its surreal that I get to experience it myself. It definitely paid off in the end. I think your team have created something truly special, Brandon. Everyone who worked on this game should be damn proud of themselves. The weapon slot mechanics, physics objects, fully rigged body, index finger tracking...this is the future of VR. Its only going to get better from here on out.

Even after seeing Half-Life: Alyx this is still the most technically impressive VR game ever. The foundation for this game is so god damn strong.
We've barely seen any of the gameplay from Alyx...it was merely a scratch.

The trailer looks like we're going to be playing as Alyx's floating hands instead of Alyx herself. Boneworks looks way more immersive so far.

That clip at 3:27 is a great example of the potential for VR. You have to stop thinking of solving problems limited by the physics engine, and instead think of how to solve them like you would in the real world.

Bought it this past friday. I spent all weekend (when I wasn't watching football) in this game. I love it. Having to actually grab things to move around in order to solve puzzles, things jumping out from around corners or from behind crates, the gun play, suspense, eerie music, it's just so fun. Thank you for this game! It works with vive controllers, but I really can't wait to try it with the valve index controllers one day. Again, thank you and job well done!!!

I wish you luck in being able to save up! I know it's super hard. This game will probably never come for it, but playstation VR is extremely affordable compared to pcvr and has a good number of high quality exclusives. I bought it at launch 3 years ago and have zero regrets. Over those 3 years I saved up and now I'm getting a pc headset. I can't fucking wait. The index is all sold out though 😭 I'm probably gonna get the rift s since it's $600 cheaper

2020 has been the offical year for VR to take off. Thinking about this, Alyx, Squadrons, Medal of Honor, all the indies, Quest 2 came out, etc. It's been a shit year for a lot of us, but it has finally happened. There's no stopping the imminent explosion that will occur in 2021 and beyond. The world will never be the same.

@Bread Guy Lmfao yes it is. Not only does your computer need to render the game twice, one for each eye, but it needs to run at a high resolution and high frame rate. VR is *extremely* high performance. It is a simple fact dude. Just look at the minimum specs of any half decent looking VR game. You need a monster PC for most games.

So my Valve Index arrived today. Its my very first VR headset, and I bought boneworks to play. After some initial motion sickness I quickly became accustomed to the movement system and it wasn't a problem anymore.
Guys, this game is amazing. I spent 2 hours just playing around with guns and physics objects. I haven't even completed the tutorial levels!
Its been exciting to see the update videos and new feature showcases as the game's development progressed, and now its surreal that I get to experience it myself. It definitely paid off in the end. I think your team have created something truly special, Brandon. Everyone who worked on this game should be damn proud of themselves. The weapon slot mechanics, physics objects, fully rigged body, index finger tracking...this is the future of VR. Its only going to get better from here on out.
