    This is great. We need a good source of reviews for cheap aliexpress things. Maybe a chart is needed to compare all.

      Hi there! Great idea on the chart. As this was my first attempt to benchmark these cheap ssds I wasn't sure how to put it all together in 1 chart and what data to prioritize. Thoughts? I've got another test/benchmark video coming up soon and I'll try and put a chart in that one. Thanks!!

    My concern with the SSDs aliexpress is rooted in the fake thumb drives and memory cards where they say it has a certain capacity but in reality its only a fraction of what they label it as. But, i wasnt sure if this was the case with SSDs and this video was the first thing that came up when i googled the subject

      @tinyku Hi and welcome to the channel. I've heard the same thing. I looked up a few of these brands in advance and some are OK. I wanted to see what speeds they put out and even found that some had the same controller chips as some bigger name brands. Thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it!

      Also good for installing 'portable' OS on them. Plug it into any pc anywhere and boot up. They are even good for fast cheap temporary storage.

      @vtrandal Hi and welcome to the channel! Great question plus idea. I'd love too but I can't at this moment in time afford to buy 3 to 5 4td ssds to test them :(

    You should review the WalramXTX RGB FTW OC Super TI Limited Edition SSD.

    • @RememberThisTech
      @RememberThisTech  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi there. Is that a real name for that walram ssd lol?

    • @ItIsNot1984
      @ItIsNot1984 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@RememberThisTech Of course. Its exclusive to sam's club members at costco.
      For reals though. My media library is getting scary big, so I looked at adding storage. High capacity ssd's were super expensive. I look at mechanical drives and was like "Should they cost that much? Its not bad, but what about used?" While looking at used drives, I noticed sas drives were super cheap. I got me a sas raid controller and some high capacity sas drives on the way. Anyways, I saw these drive bays by companies like icy dock that cram several 2.5" drives into one 5.25" optical bay. Might be interesting to play with one of those and a mess of cheap ssd's. Like what happens if you put 8 cheap ssd's into raid 0 sort of thing.

    • @RememberThisTech
      @RememberThisTech  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @ItIsNot1984 oh wow Costco sells walram ssds? I never knew. Icy dock 2.5 inch bay aye? I'll have to check that out ty. I've been wanting to expand my file sever for sometime. But your right the cost of hd and ssds are through the roof! I use red hd drives for my server. I'd hate to use cheap ssds and then they all take a dump lol. Might be worth while experiment though. And heck I've even got a bunch of old 2.5 1tb laptop drives. Not the same speed I know but shrug. Good thoughts and info tyvm!!

    • @ItIsNot1984
      @ItIsNot1984 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@RememberThisTech yah icy dock charges a bit of a premium, but there a bunch of cheap copycats. Laptop drives would be interesting to see in one of these. I got a ton of them too. Get a cheap sas card, a couple breakout cables to hook it all up. It might be surprisingly decent depending how you stripe them.

    Good info, keep up the good work! Is there a similar option with dram?

    • @RememberThisTech
      @RememberThisTech  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there ty. If an ssd doesn't have dram or dram cache, huge data transfers will tank the speeds of the ssd to a crawl. They have a bit more expensive ssds with better controllers and dram. Those can manage heavy data transfers. I believe Samsung Evo 870 is a good one.

      I use Walram and goldenfir as well as Huadisk in a lot of builds. I'd say whichever one you can get the cheapest grab a few.

    • @RememberThisTech
      @RememberThisTech  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @320466 Hi there! I'd have a backup of your media just in case. I've been using a few different brands of these for months without issue, but stuff can happen. I've also had a couple of ssds from Aliexpress come, Doa. But as cheap as these are, u can't go wrong as long as u know to be careful. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate it!

    So you bought a 128gb for 8$. Where is the bargain here? Now due to the AI hype SSD prices have skyrocketed and a 1Tb costs 50-60eur (55-65usd).
    6 months ago they were 30-40eur/Tb.
    The SSDs you bought are 65-125$/Tb.
    You should do the math before calling these cheap chinese SSDs "budget".
