Melasma is a fairly common skin condition that creates the appearance of brown to gray-brown patches of skin, usually on the face. Melasma can be treated with chemical peels, microdermabrasion or dermabrasion to remove the top layers of the skin.

I suffer from melasma. I tried chemical peels, I also went to the skin doctor who prescribed a night cream mixture that is normally stored in the fridge. This cream made the skin too bright and pale, and when I am in the sun my skin gets red on the areas I applied the cream. The melasma was fading, but I stopped as my skin was get too pale. Long story short, melasma never left. My other last options I have is microneedling and laser.
When you say too pale are we talking straight up bleaching or did it just create a slight contrast?
@@mh.7351 No bleach...all I know is the cream I got from the doctor is apparently a brightening cream. Normally stored in the refrigerator

Hi can inflammation such as chemical peels or allergic reactions from skin injury cause melasma? What can dark skin use to lighten hyperpigmentation? Without further worsening and does melasma start with crusts on then skin ?
Inflammation in certain skin types can cause hyperpigmentation and melasma, but not all hyperpigmentation from inflammation is melasma. There are many options for treatment of hyperpigmenation and you should consult with a board certified dermatologist for a customized plan based on your skin. Melasma never starts as crusts on the skin.
Yes chemical irritation and some conditions can cause skin hyperpigmentation.
I am so worried about my Mom, she is treating melasma for 6 years now, she's even using *zen obaggi kit* still the effects are not that good. (she 45 & don't have any wrinkles and follows a really strict diet, cause she wants to look good).
We have certified dermatologists, who told about zen obaggi, but I dont think it's working anymore.....
*Any other option besides laser?*

I was Afraid to Ordered the herbal medication for melasma, Now I understand that only herbal medication can cure such illnesses, i start seeing changes on time skin at the 2nd week of using the medication, it took me 1 month before the patches were gone completely.

Choose broad-spectrum sunscreens that protect against UVA and UVB waves and contain the physical-blocking ingredients zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Apply to all the parts of your body that will be exposed to the sun, paying particular attention to the face, neck, chest, and hands which often show the first signs of sun damage.
