Good Morning Mr Don, hope you are having a wonderful day, thank yo so much for the wonderful content..... I think about you and your ideas you share with us everyday at the shop.....you are a great influence for me.... and I am sure others.....Best Wishes, Paulie Brown
speaking of GoPro mics, I remember Abom's early videos and the clanking and banging of his tool holders...... when I was videoing Flat Track Motor Cycle racing, 1982/83, the mic on the JVC Industrial Grade [still Cheap] camera would pick up the sounds of the brakes.....amazing, as I sure could not hear it....but attenuate the exhaust noise...... ah, the good old days.......
The two the mics I have are Shure M57 and M58 stage mics, not likely suitable for this task at all. The loudest exhaust I ever heard was from the old hydroplanes using V12 aircraft engines with 4" strait pipes. The goPro can take carbide dust. The computers are hard for me whereas the Elusive close tolerances are so easy! Funny how that works.
I understand the gear head noise. I have a gear head mill and a belt drive mill. I love how quite and smooth the belt drive mill is over the gear head. My Clausing 5913 lathe is also a gear head lathe and it is pretty loud as compared to my belt drive lathe.
The Axelson lathe, Morris radial drill and this mill were made in the same time period fairly low Hp, 3-5 ,weigh 5000 to 6000lbs. but have considerable power from the geared drives. I like the matched set of small very heavy machines I stumbled on to.
@@DonDyarprecision Yep my Clausing 5913 is only 2 hp with 3phase 1750 rpm motor but I have a range of low 50's to over 2000 rpms. My Bridgeport Clone belt drive mill is a 3 hp 3 phase motor and it will go all the way to above 4000 rpm, I will never use the max speed of either machine, but they are hogs when it comes to removing metal.
8GB RAM is minimal for video. It’s not wonderful for Windows not doing video. But it also depends on the resolution you’re working in. If it’s 1080p, then 8GB will work, but it’s a bit slow, depending on the video/graphic capabilities. If you’re going to do 4k instead, 16GB is a minimum. I do work in 4k and have my Mac outfitted with 128GB RAM, and would like more.
more RAM is always helpful......I remember in 1995 buying a 8 GB hard drive array for doing Video, on a Radius Mac Type platform, , [4] 2 gig drives....it cost $8,000....times sure have changed........
Dee if you let me know what brand and model your computer is I will search for ram upgrade for it. It is a simple fix just plug and play. I've done it to my old Dell computer. Mine is also a Refurb from Dell. So if you are interested in upgrading the ram on yours let me know and send the model number and brand.
I have the least expensive, year 2020 HP laptop but, It is having structural and connecter failures, internal speakers sounds like gravel in a bucket, Things take a beating out in the field. The refurbished 8GB laptops are around $100. I need to figure out the camera and sound options. One problem is the shack is a harsh environment and I have screwed up a camera from carbide and abrasive dust.
@@DonDyarprecision Okay sometimes it is better to upgrade the entire machine than just the parts. From what I understand the older machines are less subject to invasion then the newer ones are. I've been hacked so many times I finally just put a new solid state hard drive in mine. One of the hackers was so bold he even left me a picture of himself.
Hey Don, I have a brand new “Rode” mic that is new in the box. Never used. I ended up ordering two for some reason, but the plug is a standard 2.5mm or 3mm jack (the normal barrel plug type) would this be of any interest to you? I’m not sure what plugs into a GoPro, or what other cameras you have. But if you’re interested it’s yours. I’m not taking a penny from you. If you want it just let me know and I’ll get it’s sent up to you.
Yes, I think that will work! I am ordering an adapter for the GoPro 9 to accept microphones, I am in luck my older camera is compatible with it, thanks!
@@DonDyarprecision I’m so very pleased to hear that, I will get it sent out by Monday morning at the latest. The mic’s are not too big but works really good. I think you will be happy with it. And it’s a well known brand. I’m just happy I can help. 🍻

I got a kick out of those creative weld symbols!
Great adds from Paul Brown Studios!
Hey Don, I was just going to ask for some jig bore content. Thanks for the videos.
I just have a simple job right now, but likely much more jigboring to come, thanks!

Yes, I am working 1080p at 4GB RAM and it is not easy, 31 minutes max time.

@@DonDyarprecision Hi Don, Maybe shorter segments.....will help when editing, and you can post both at the same time......just a thought......Paul
Hey Don, what kind of cutting lubricant is that and apart from the obvious what benefits do you notice vs typical tapmagic/oil. Thanks
It is bees wax mixed with cutting fluids including tap magic, some will not like it.
