man well done on a complicated project! i thought adding one pop up to my bedroom area was complicated. this is a brain freeze! ha ha. i have the same long term plans so we might see each other on the way round! cheers and best of luck.
I cant even remember at this point how I first came across this build but let me tell you this is one hell of a build. I am starting a build on a 1968 Chevy C40 Truck into a fully self contained wood fired pizza food truck and although it will not have as many bells and whistles as this build it does have quite a bit of complexity to it. I have to say my favorite part WAS the pop up of the whole top until today when I saw the slide out not only pops up but the roof slides open that is beyond cool. I was particularly impressed with the simplicity of the slide out system. I'm not sure I can still do it but in the initial design phase of my build I had a slide out but was literally pulling my hair out trying to design the mechanism. The problems arose in trying to re-create what is on most modern day slide outs instead of doing using a crazy simple design as you have done here. I basically designed the same thing but was not sure if it would work and seeing yours was confirmation that I'm not crazy. I realized although I was subscribed I did not hit the notification thing and luckily it showed up anyway. I have now made sure I get notifications and eagerly await your next video on this build. I've already written much so i might as well add through all of these I continue to be impressed with not only the attention to details but the presentation. Fairly straight forward, no blasted annoying music or excessive talking or 3 min intro. Just a dude building something and documenting it, its rather refreshing. Wishing you continued success and thank you for this.
Thanks Jeff! Very kind words. 😂 You're not crazy! Sometimes the simplest option works just fine, we'll see how this performs in the long run but I'm pretty confident it will be ok. Good luck with your build, if you need any help, let me know 👍
I’ve just watched all of your build episodes in one hit cause I’m hooked. Found you after looking at slide outs. Mate your a legend, it’s one thing to skilled and gifted in what you do, another thing to take the time and help others with their own projects. What has been your motivation to post these videos? I’ll have to come to your next workshop. I live in the eastern suburbs, don’t have a project yet but I’ll be tackling something like this in the future and would love to see what you’ve done to the truck. Truely amazing what you’ve achieved. If I could have given you one piece of advice though, should have made 2 of everything. You would have made a killing selling another body even if it took 25% longer (if that) Love your work and determination.
Thanks so much mate! Very much appreciated. Hahah yeah, I've pretty much had to redo every single thing I've done so far so probably could have made two
And I think you can’t go wrong with a bit of dry silicone lubricant on the Teflon. The actuator would appreciate it. Check the tension on the rollers too!! I think it’s too much.
Nice tunes, you might like the set that Sébastien Léger did in Egypt 2/3 weeks ago. Also thanks for all the tips. planning a t244 conversion at some point once I get my HGV licence.
Love your work - as usual. [Hi L] I'll be checking up on YT often so please entertain me! A boat, eh? Like you needed a hobby. Just found this button on the YT page. I'm busy watching BroAction discover what PFloyd sounds like - I remember my first. See you soon…
You must expect to travel parts of earth where rains and cold are not an issue, this monstrous construction seems to be very likely to leak water and/or heat But a great show non the less. Hope to see how you deal with all those issues
I am contemplating a 2.15mL x 1mW x 2mH slide-out in a 4.87m all-aluminum, cab-over box. Thinking about pneumatic actuators. Yours are electro\mechanical? Did you consider pneumatic? If not, why? Most rigs have compressed air.
Yeah mine are electric. I did consider it, I went with electric because they can support a load whole extended without any issues, the compressor runs off the engine, so that creates more obstacles
@@dancampion The weight is carried by the support arms & frame, not the extend etract mechanism. If a ram(s) is/are used it is important it/they not see axial force, its only function is to push\pull without interference (i.e. side-load). "the compressor runs off the engine" the vehicle engine? I doubt manyRV rigs have that set-up. Large trucks do but that's immaterial. Many rigs carry air compressors and some carry extra tankage. Mine does both. What the air-compressor's prime mover uses to start it and possibly operate it depends solely on design and/or preference. A pull-start or battery-start gasoline prime mover has no connection to the vehicle engine. There is also no good reason why an electric prime mover cannot operate the air compressor.
Nice I love it! Are there any plans on insulation? (Haven't watched the full series yet so maybe it's addressed in a later video) But it seems to be hard with to insulate with all the slide systems
It's awhile back but bolting a flange on your slide walls that are holding your cantilever from rotating down and away with weight. Sealed roller bearings would never wear out in that application.
Hi, I've been looking for information like this. Max would be proud. Thank you.
Bloody marvellous! And yes; a bit of support for the extension certainly wouldn't go astray (you'll always feel more secure).
True, and I think it will help to stabilise the whole body which will be necessary

just insanely good
This is such an amazing and ingenious build. Loving it. Andy U.K.
Beautiful slide out room

Thanks Richard! Very much appreciated

Impressed! Subscribed!

Bro, this is a sweet build!!
Cheers bro!
Thats awesome work!!!

Hey D,
We who don't do the Instamess would love to see your videos posted here.
We await with baited breath…
Hello Ian! What a pleasure to meet you here, you've come to the right place. These videos are more detailed than the Instagram versions
Love your work - as usual. [Hi L]

Like you needed a hobby.
Just found this button on the YT page.
I'm busy watching BroAction discover what PFloyd sounds like - I remember my first.
See you soon…
Very good
thats crazy
Nice Mate! Great work! See you on the road :D
Where did you get the teflon strips mate?
@@Resignandreset thanks mate! I got them from a sheet metal supplier

We'll see how we go!
Of course it wud leak now... It's but a mere frame.... Lol! It's late I'm joking of course🤪!!! ✌🏻💗😊❣️
Thats a massive actuator, what are the figures on that one
looks crazy cool. Why did you decide not to add room extension on both sides?
TBH it didn't occur to me at the time

Nice! :) You should wire every thing up to 1 big red button. And with the text above it: DEPLOY CAMP :D
😂😂 that's a great idea! I think I'll have to do that
Brilliant

Haven't put too much thought into insulation yet, that's a bridge we're yet to cross, suggestions welcome!
Hey, Dan, I was wondering where u got ur large, thick strips of Teflon? I cant seem to input the correct terminology. What words did u search, bud?
Hey Grim, I bought them from a sheet metal supplier. Any plastics supplier/manufacturer should be able to sort you out
@@dancampion Thanks, Dan. Appreciated.
