    Allrecipes defines soups as using more liquid stating stews only contain enough liquid to cover the other ingredients. Stews are typically chunkier. I would agree with this.

    Curious how long you have been cooking plant based? It took me a couple of years to figure out cooking . Exploring different ethnic foods was key for me. Thai, Mexican, Japanese, Middle eastern, etc. i didn't know many spices before going plant based.

    I have a suggestion for when you only have store bought hummus, add a can of chickpeas and a cooked peeled sweet potato, I add some balsamic vinegar and some lime juice and aquafaba as needed salt to taste, and blend in food processor, then you have the best of both worlds!

  • @MandaGeminiLoneWolf

    The cost of the "Milky Plant" is not outrageous when you think that a "Kitchenaid" stand mixer cost about the same and you're more likely to use the stand mixer less than something that helps make plant based milk.
    Love that I came across this channel. I love trying new things but being a single mama on a tight budget its harder to do the drastic recipes id like to try. Its nice to get everyone's opinion. I don't tell my kids though what's in stuff sometimes because I've learned that they didn't like the fake beef made out of walnuts & mushrooms because I told them before. When I didn't tell them that it was in the burrito, they didn't know and thought it was good. We're from Langley, BC Canada :)

    • @pbwithjeremy
      @pbwithjeremy  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You sound like an amazing mother! And yeah - we tried hiding stuff but the kids are smart and figure it out - or they'd see it in the video later - so hard to sneak.... :) Annie called me a "Lair" one time :) hahaha
      Agreed about the Milky Plant price - I figure within a year (or less) the machine has paid for itself in savings (and it's better for the environment)

    Stews have alot of starch that flows into the dish to allow it to thicken so you will find potatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes and other starchy foods (also beans, lentils)in stews where soups dont have to have the starch and the the foods all hold together with a more watery broth. I think strews are better to stick to your ribs.

    We found oh she glows for dinner at our library and have been trying it out. I came back to rewatch your review of this book.
    Btw we use a similar recipe to her sweet potato pudding for the ninja creami, 1 large sweet potato, vanilla extract, 1/4 to 1/3 cup dutch cocoa powder, 1 to 2 tablespoons sweetener of choice, optional sprinkle of salt, optional 1 cup of cherries or berries (frozen is fine), almond extract really brings out the cherriesif you use them, 1.5 to 2 cups of plant based milk of choice. I usually end up with too much. Yesterday I got 2 containers per batch.

    Don't people understand modifications in recipes is how better recipes are made.
    Expecting someone to follow every recipe exactly is like telling someone they can only eat a burger with ketchup, mustard, pickles, tomatoes, and lettuce. Not everyone likes all those things. So everyone eats on their burgers what they like and there is nothing wrong with that.

Just a thought I make the chocolate pudding with a Japanese or Oriental sweet potato from super store sku#4818. I roast my sweet potato in the oven until it is starting to caramelize I don't add any nut butter just maple syrup or dates to sweeten. Then add to my vitamix & add plant milk until the desired consistency. I did try it with the orange sweet potato's before was not a fan. This way tastes just like the choc. pudding cups I remember as a kid :)

    good overview of book, think i'll check it out! that roswell picture tho 😂 literal lol . confused tho why you keep saying adult vs kids favours/tastes - kids just eat & like what they're used to! maybe it's different in europe, kids dont get 'special' meals, even young, so there's no different favours/tastes for them...

    • @pbwithjeremy
      @pbwithjeremy  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Our kids don't get special meals, but kids and adults do have different taste buds. As we age our taste buds start to die so we need more intense flavours, which is often why children prefer blander food. Infants have around 30,000 tastebuds spread throughout their mouths. By the time we hit adulthood, only about a third of these remain, mostly on our tongues. So flavours are more intense for the young.

    I love watching your videos. They are so entertaining and informative. Its wonderful that we get to see your whole family interacting about the recipes as well. 🤗 Brisbane Australia. PS. i am wondering if you could do a video on PB glutenfree recipes, and explain the flours and how to get them to rise like normal flours. It would be awesome to see all your favourite PB glutenfree recipes. Thanks.

      Will add this to our idea file. The truth is that - gluten free flours don't rise like normal flours - so if that's your hope, sorry to disappoint. BUT there are some things that can make them pretty decent :)

    Bulk Barn sells raw sunflower seeds. They don't have any flavour just like raw cashews. I have made a few recipes with toasted sunflower by mistake. It always tastes better with raw sunflower cream. Your family would probably like it more if you hunted down raw seeds. :-) I'm sure you could use hemp seeds too.

    • @pbwithjeremy

      We have raw too. I tend to like the roasted it adds to most sauces - a little umami.

    I use white vinegar in my cashew sour cream and vegan ranch, and use it in place of ACV in tofu feta, we find it has less tang than apple cider vinegar and prefer the flavor. My mom used to use it in her sauce on top of meatloaf, which works great on lentil loaf as well
