This is a nice synchronicity. One of my interests is the crafting of talismans, using astrological timing and elements of natural magic especially herbs, spices, etc. But I've been stuck on what material to actually use to contain/store the ingredients for each talisman that I work on - glass is tricky and either visually unappealing, or sourced from dubious places with no ethical manufacturing considerations; wood is difficult to source at reasonable cost, unless I learn to make some cool crafted small wooden containers. Leather doesn't appeal to me, but cloth pouches made of sustainable cotton or similar, are what I'm interested in, and had been thinking of adding some cross stitch magic using folk motifs from Eastern Europe.
Your cross stitch is absolutely superb, and impeccable. I view folk art and craftsmanship in the highest regard and love to see the incredible works of art stitched and woven by folk people all over the world.

Cloth pouched for talismans would be lovely to use and the most appropriate I think, they last, do not break and they are easy to carry. You may craft your own from linen fabric, I think it's easier to stitch on linen. I found it difficult though because the actual rows of fabric are not even, and the final result doesn't look as good as you'd stitch on Aida fabric. You could also stitch on Aida fabric and then attach it to the pouch itself.
Oh, I just realised you wanted something to store the ingredients, not the talisman. I guess glass could be ok to be honest because glass is always recycled. You may reuse jars that come with food products such as biscuits or conserves. I just heard someone here on TH-cam talking about how she keeps all the jars to store ingredients and spells, and that can be an option you may wish to consider.
My grandma used to store herbs in a simple, plain cotton pouch, they lasted very well and cotton is also breathable.
