Hello @DirectShift Sir, I’m a first-time buyer, and I’m really leaning toward the VAG group cars because of their safety and driving dynamics. I have a few questions for you. You’ve mentioned that the 1.0 Torque Converter is a "peace of mind" option, but you also said that the 1.5 DSG is the best. From what I know, after 5-6 years, VW cars generally don’t have great resale value, whether it’s a Skoda Slavia, VW Virtus, or Taigun. We’ve test-driven both the 1.0 and 1.5 automatic variants, and I have to say, we absolutely loved the 1.5 with its 4-cylinder engine. It’s smooth, and the power delivery is fantastic. But I’m a bit concerned after reading about DSG issues online. Could you clarify based on your experience? How does the DSG handle in bumper-to-bumper traffic? I’ve seen videos saying DSG is better suited for highways and not city traffic. What happens when it’s used in traffic conditions? What is the water-wading capacity of the Taigun? I’ve heard that the DSG is quite sensitive, especially the mechatronics, so what happens in areas with heavy rainfall or coastal regions?
You have already observed the differences between the 1.0 and 1.5 variants, so I believe the 1.0 variant may no longer be under consideration. Regarding DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox) failure issues, these were more prevalent in diesel engines due to the higher torque. However, while the issue can occur in petrol engines, it is much rarer. The few cases I have encountered (3-4) seemed random, not necessarily caused by rough driving or overheating-more a matter of chance. It would be advisable to opt for an extended warranty and switch to manual or sports mode in stop-and-go traffic, as some refinements have been made to mitigate this issue. Despite heavy traffic in cities like Bangalore, I haven’t heard of this problem being traffic-related. As for coastal areas, I don't believe they would have any adverse effects on the vehicle either. You can proceed with confidence
@@DirectShift thank you so much for reply sir. kindly shed some light on water wading capacity and its impact on DSG or any gearbox. how much safe it is? or Generally after what points, risk begins in terms of water wading.
With Skoda having Sportline Variant placed between Mid and Top Variant, it is by far the most VFM variant, if you don’t want to spend for Top variant but want some good features added to Mid Variant. For eg: Skoda Slavia Sportline 1.0/1.5 is similar to Signature Mid Variant but is loaded with many sport trims and other features like sunroof, auto dimming irvm, auto sensing wiper, led projector headlights. Rest, i do agree with most of your points although my Kushaqs roof material quality is pretty robust. You can use sports mode at any speed. Nothing to worry about low speed. Even you can use in bumper to bumper traffic. Mostly you can use S mode on uphills for more power, downhills for better engine braking, bumper to bumper traffic for avoiding frequent change of gear between D1 and D2.
There is no inbuilt active tyre pressure sensor on VW and Skoda. The low tyre pressure is detected using Speed sensor of each tyre. Sir, I need some practical advice, I am driving Honda Jazz currently & drive around 10,000 kms yearly - ( daily office running of ~ 60kms in Mumbai traffic & 2-3 long distance (500kms+) travels annually). Jazz gives me 12-14 kmpl in city & 16-18 kmpl on long trips. Service cost is ~15k annually. Given this background, how will buying virtus or kushaq impact as far as running cost is concerned?
Running cost will be almost same. Nothing to worry about. But you will find minor niggles in cabin, interiors etc.But you will really fall in love with TSI engine. Regarding mileage you may get more mileage than Jazz on highway. But in city it will depend on traffic condition. May vary from 8-16kmpl.
@DirectShift thank you for your response. Yes, I saw your video too (Delhi to cuttak trip) and many other videos on TH-cam, skoda VW cars give some niggles or the other ...I personally don't want to have any such niggles at all. Although the engine and gearbox of VW/skoda is in the league of its own, I think I will not really prefer these cars right now. A strong hybrid from Honda, will be a good trade-off (improved power as compared to their NA engines & good torque at low-mid band & definitely good mileage) looks like the only feasible option.

Hi, Skoda kushaq or Hyundai creta which is best and how much mailage they both give. Can you also tell me manual or automatic which is best in both the cars.
It depends upon your priority. For safety and driving pleasure, Kushaq anyday ! But if you need a car with all modern features, and tried and tested type car, then Creta. Safety is a main concern in Creta. If you are comparing between Kushaq 1.0 and Creta, then I would suggest Creta, if you are comparing between Kushaq 1.5 and Creta, you need to test drive both car first and decide. Regarding mileage, you need to understand that turbo engines will give very less mileage if you drive very short distances and in bumper to bumper traffic. For mostly highway drives, I will suggest Skoda for mileage, driving dynamics and safety.

Pls let me know if this doubt of mine really make sense or it will be just matter of time once I start driving any german car.
No. That wouldn’t be an issue. Auto cancelling function will turn it off automatically. And you won’t face difficulties to turn it on while shifting gears

One of the reason for us ditching Monte Carlo edition was that 8 inch infotainment. You are spot on with your observation. Obviously we opted for Taigun as it provided wireless car plug and play. It didn't make any sense for us to pay ~19 lakhs and get wired infotainment system.
Both VW and Skoda 2.0 has inferior interior quality. Rapid, Polo, Vento was way better in terms of quality, fit and finish. Instead of talking about these.. talk about the transmission differences. TSI is already a better version of TFSI from Audi in terms of refinement. 1.0 TSI in Rapid/Vento is way more torqued than Honda City. Torque band range is 1750 RMP till 4400 RPM. Much powerful than Honda City 1.5 NA. Check EA211 from VW. Do you know how much is 1.0 TSI capable of generating power output when tuned?
This difference was asked by my friends many times and the answer is this video!

I have Slavia. My first service is due in next month. What I need to keep in mind for my service. Driven only 7K km. Please suggest
If you are facing any issues do inform them. And try to get the latest softwares updated for infotainment, driver side window and AC. If you have purchased SMP then ask them to do those jobs done only which are covered under SMP

Nice vdo👍

Good information
One thing, VW Virtus has hill climb assist that holds the car for 3 seconds after the brakes are released. Please correct that info
Yes, VW Virtus has this feature only in Topline, GT and all AT variants. I mentioned that it's not there in Highline MT variant, but it's there in Slavia Ambition MT variant
@@DirectShift Bro this feature is there in highline as well
Not in Highlline MT. We have coded so many Highline MT variants to enable this so I can confirm this. Not sure if they have started offering this feature in 2024 model cars. Can you please confirm if your car is 2024 or old manufacturing if it’s Highline MT
Such good cars. Don't understand why sales are so low.
Because people are more concerned about resale value of a car even before buying :)
Because of degrade in quality ⁉️
@subhasishmohanty3874 Because unfortunately people go for superficial "features" instead of engineering excellence, safety and quality
@@DavidSenna57 no they even offers paint and rust damange warranty in their car and I guess noone offers in lower to midrange cars
Nice 👌🏻
Thank you 🤩
Just FYI.. mere Honda City 5th gen mein master cylinder assembly gayi thi 12 k kms mein aur woh warranty mein cover ho gaya tha..
Master cylinder warranty mein jayegi. Par clutch plate nahin
@@DirectShift yes woh wear and tear hain
All thing true but manual gt is quicker to overtakes in city traffic than dsg
fully agree

Hows the slavia monte carlo should i buy or wait DSG gear box ???
You can go for MC. It comes with DSG
@@DirectShift Mc ?
@@Tarunoberoivlogsmonte carlo 😅

@@Tarunoberoivlogs if ur from delhi than diesel doesnt make sense. If u live elsewhere then diesel is fine its not going to get banned atleast for next 10 to 15 years
Should I buy 1.5 then? or1.5 automatic is best in VW
If budget is not a constraint, then 1.5 any day
@@DirectShift Sir you mention TC is piece of mind.. so why you say 1.5? . And after 5-6 yr VW has no resale value - and Skoda Slavia or VW Virtus or TAIGUN.. given the challenges you mention I am thinking of Honda City- old and tested. Only Automatic is all I am looking for no constrain on budget for now.
@@DeepakSharma-sp8cr so which product you went ahead?
TC is peace of mind, but DSG is best in segment with a little bit risk involved. And I personally don’t care about resale while purchasing a car.
Hello sir, I have observed that in VW/Skoda cars the indicator and wiper levers are in opposite sides unlike other Indian cars. So is there really any challenge while driving these german cars? As I currently own a manual car and driving it single handedly is easy as I can conveniently control indicators while steering and changing gears with other hand. Pls let me know if this doubt of mine really make sense or it will be just matter of time once I start driving any german car.
No. That wouldn’t be an issue. Auto cancelling function will turn it off automatically. And you won’t face difficulties to turn it on while shifting gears
Hi, My height is 5'7 and buying my first car so have heard that skoda has long clutch travel as my height is 5'7 so is it an issue...?
Yes, the clutch is hard and long travel. Also the gear shift as well. So I will suggest you to take a long test drive in manual transmission car before taking any decision, if you are new to VAG group cars. Else automatic transmission will be a good choice
@@DirectShift Thanks for replying!!
Awesome 👍
Thank you Sir !
@@DirectShift you’re welcome!
Itne saare issues 😳. With VW I only have experience with a relative's Polo which was positive. Lekin ye 2.0 ki cars me duniya bhar ke issues kabhi AC kabhi wear and tear kabhi kuch sun ke hairan hu. Ye kahe ki "Over Engineered" car banayi hai VW walo ne - itne issues to sunke Tata ki cars ki yaad aati hai. Bas driving feel ke liye itna kaun jhele bhai.
Anti theft alarm issue is permanently fixed in my Kushaq with a software update.
Yes. But issue is that they don’t fix it unless until someone reports it
True. And not to mention the horrible driver side window bug. Not sure why year after year skoda vw is unable to fix this!!
Hamare yaha ulta he skoda ka showroom and service station 10 minutes door he aur VW 60 kms door he
Ha ha
@@DirectShift sir me next year kylaq purchase karne ka soch raha hun abhi mere paas 2017 Baleno MT he

Information is good but not up to date. Volkswagen me 1.0 TSI me bhi GT version aa raha hai.
That’s GT line, not GT I know. Didn’t want to make people confused.
@@DirectShift That is GT Sport variant. I have purchased it recently. 1.5 version is called GT Plus Sport. Apart from engine few cosmetic changes in 1.5 like GT badging. 1.0 GT line was launched few months back.
This video is enough to make one switch to Honda City
Aapne jitne reasons bataye usse saabit hota hain ki Indian head Ashish Gupta aur Skoda ka mujhe pata nahi inko yeh sab problems ko jaldi sudharna hoga nahi toh log aise kaaran ke wajah se Korean manufacturers mein chale jaayenge.. faaltu ke features aur aise chote issues ko wajah se achha gaadi miss kar jaayenge
Hill start assist toh bohot bada cheating hain VW customers ke saath..
Aur woh cruise control ki baat sahi hain..yeh apne puraane Rapid Octavia se waise hii aa raha hain aur yeh logon ke itne bhi koshish nahi Kari ki VW jaise easy kare
Please don't buy VW🙏

One of the reason for us ditching Monte Carlo edition was that 8 inch infotainment. You are spot on with your observation.
Obviously we opted for Taigun as it provided wireless car plug and play. It didn't make any sense for us to pay ~19 lakhs and get wired infotainment system.
Exactly 👍
Monte Carlo 2024 provides 10 inch system and wireless info system
My Virtus has driven 2k kms,and there's rattling from dashboard and Ac is very very weak 😡😡I previously had Vento it was much more reliable ‼️
There is no permanent fix for the rattling noise as of now. You can get the AC settings coded for better cooling without affecting warranty
