      People aren't sick of background movies. They are just not willing to leave their house, & pay premium prices to see them.
      Viewership for these kinds of movies are high when they are just dropped on the apps to view. Viewership is even high when these movies flop in the box office & eventually hit streaming.

      Nobody who is a viewer should be caring about the budget of a film outside of the occasional nerdy behind the scenes conversation. Either you liked it, hated it, or thought it was just okay.
      Or you're not interested in the film at all, & if that's the case focus your attention on the films you are interested in.
      People have made a hobby out of focusing their attention on things that is either not important or they honestly don't care about. Just spreading negative out of boredom is bad time management.

It is a perfectly entertaining Christmas movie and that is generally what people expect of Christmas movies. I liked the twist on Santa being a serious buff guy and I agree that the final scene showing the mechanics of how Santa delivers all those presents was a highlight of the film. I don't know man, I walked out of this movie with a really bad taste in my mouth. Like, did we REALLY need Jumanji 3 as a Christmas movie from the same director with the same lead actor? Did we REALLY need to spend $250 MILLION on it? How is that even possible? Oppenheimer which virtually had half of all A-list actors in Hollywood cost 40% of that. Dune Part 2, a movie heavily reliant on visual effects with a bunch of great actors that looked phenomenal cost less than this.
    Instead of doing the most "been there, done that" movie of the year, you could literally have given David Fincher the money to finish his Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy and have enough money left to finance like 15 more Barbarian-type projects from up and coming horror directors.
    We just had Juror #2 come out from 94 year old director Clint Eastwood for $35 million -- a movie with a great premise, a really good cast and fantastic execution that WB couldn't get bothered to promote at all and they think Red One deserves more attention from moviegoers? Sorry, but that just rubs me the wrong way...

      Imagine watching a movie and critiquing the finances above all else - like what do you mean by “we” need to spend? How is it possible? We know there was mismanagement and under experienced managers paired with the Rock showing up to set late. Plus the reality is the Rock and Chris likely have massive paydays vs most everyone in Oppenheimer with the exception of maaaaybe RDJ.
      It’s just weird, I understand questioning the budget paired with the quality of the CG but in the grand scope of things I don’t get why it carries so much weight to the final product. It’s not like you’re a producer or an investor so why does it bother you so much?

    Great review!! I think I liked this movie a bit better, but you have a very evenhanded take on the film. (You even use your hands to good effect in the review.) It's a film that I will probably watch every Christmas season as I'm a big fan of J.K. Simmons, and I love his take on St. Nick. I also see this film as a hilarious take on the "Air Force One" type of action films. I do think that the budget was ridiculously high, and the run time was bit too long. I wouldn't have gone to see this in theaters, but it was worth watching through Amazon Prime.

    The only thing i cam think to where this movie should be criticized is that it really is not a kids movie and i can understand strict parents being upset thinking they were takimg their kids to see a wholesome christmas movie.
    But for me as an adult i found it to be an awesome suprise that it was kinda edgy, funny, and action packed. But what i loved most was how they dived into mythology almost like it was a christmas version of the percy jackson books.
    I also loved the prothestics they used for krampus and his goons.

    I love how they incorporate other christmas lore into this movie, they make it so that any other person who has heard or never heard of the lore in a way that makes it not only intriguing, but also not compromising the story, gryla showed through her actions and although Krampus was a bit more obvious, it was fitting that his lair not only told, but showed his behavior, I think it was ok when it was just Santa, but the second Gryla was another part of the lore and freaking Krampus, I absolutely fell in love with the movie
    TL:DR Krampus and Gryla were awesome additions to a christmas movie

    I was curious about this movie so I saw it yesterday. Im a " see for myself " kind of person instead of listening to critics 100% of the times. I disagree with critics. I liked it. It was entertaining and these days we definitely need entertainment. We need goofy parts and action as well. They had some good characters too and some good ideas. I do have 2 criticisms for the movie. They put it out too soon and not enough marketing. Also I do think that they might be better off with it if it was put on streaming because the competition in theaters is not going to help them succeed. They have to go up against an anticipated and beloved musical and also a sequel of a beloved Disney kid's movie Character. That's going to hurt them especially during a time where most likely people are going to tighten their wallet and probably only watch 1 or 2 movies because of holiday shopping.

    Eff the budget. This movie was absolutely great. It didn't pull any punches. It wasn't all wokish. It represented Santa as a superhero(at the end). The characters were gritty enough, but as not to muck up Christmas movies with curse words. It's for adults and kids of the internet age. The sleigh took off like Superman, breaking the sound barrier. The Krampus scenes were the least I liked but still interesting. I loved Santa doing parkour on the roofs, and the elves' delivery system of bulk presents from a mega blimp to Santa's sleigh was genius. The actors are Hollywood elite, but they didn't act like it except for the Rock being the Rock as expected. We weren't saturated with corny puns. Red One , NL Christmas Vacation, and Santa Claus (1985) are my top Christmas movies ever.

    Honestly, I saw this with my brother yesterday in theaters. I kinda dig this. Yeah, it has problems, like The Rock being the same he was in the other movies, some other characters not having much time for character devolpment, the villain is kinda lame, & it kinda feels like more of the streaming film. But hey, at least me and my little brother have a great time in the theater seeing this.

    i’m glad someone is doing this because I saw this movie last night on Amazon prime just to see what all the negativity was about. Is it the world’s greatest film ? No. when I saw the trailer for it, all I expected was a fun holiday film and that’s what I got.

    The movies you described are essentially the social media reel, tiktok equivalent for cinema. Designed for people to switch their brains off and watch. But sadly that is all that media is now, switch your brain off and watch. Cinema is not designed for you to switch your brain off, it is designed to captivate and ask questions and make us think

    • @AbuMaia01
      @AbuMaia01 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cinema is designed to entertain. If you're entertained by thought-provoking movies, great. Others are entertained by giant explosions, or silly jokes, or jumpscares. Don't diss someone else's entertainment just because you feel its beneath your intellect.

    • @SlasherIncorporated
      @SlasherIncorporated หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wrong. Like AbuMaia01 said, cinema is designed to entertain. That's what movies are: A form of entertainment. That can come in different forms. Some people find thought-provoking films to be entertaining, while others find mindless blockbuster films to be entertaining. Personally, I like both. I enjoy movies that me think and feel certain things, while I also enjoy movies that are just fun. I agree with AbuMaia01 in that you shouldn't diss someone else's entertainment just because you feel it's beneath your intellect. It annoys the hell out of me that some people are trying to draw some kind of a line...and decide what movies are truly "cinema" or not. ALL movies are cinema. ALL movies are art. Make no mistake about that. Films tell stories through the art of motion-picture photography. Whether you like the stories they tell or not is something else entirely.
