Most charities spend only a tiny percentage on actually doing what they advertise.

Once the curtain was pulled down and realized that celebrities were actually idiots when they spoke to the fans, we the public took them off the pedestal we once worshiped.
"Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!"

My favorite virtue signaling attempt was when Alyssa Milano put on a crocheted Covid mask and told us that’s she’s better than the rest of us. That’s was the funniest thing about the whole mask debacle.

The millionaire actors are the ones who are killing jobs like mine - basic low-level production assistant jobs who actually are paid well below the poverty line in CA. I work remotely for Warner Bros and even in the state I live in, with its lower cost of living, I need to stretch the wage I make. And now because of idiot actors and untalented writers complaining that their working conditions are "too hard" or that they "don't make enough money", projects are being cancelled and us lowly production staffers are the first thing to get axed. We're getting bitter. I LOVE film and animation, which is why I got into this industry, but man it's full of BS right now.
Exactly....add the damned $camdemic, which was also designed to kill small business like ours....
I've done fx since 86, but I'd rather work indie, selling masks, and not have to deal with the insufferable tudes you mentioned, and the damned drywall masks😂
I want to see small film makers take the world by storm with low budgets, unknown actors and good storytelling. And then really win crowds over by refusing to follow the Hollywood agenda. That would be something.
Exactly!
That line about being in California for 3 days and that’s why you have blue hair was hilarious 😂
I am so sick of virtue signaling. Hollywood constantly shoves out generic garbage, and constantly "How do you do, fellow kids?"ifies social issues, and you'll have a league of equally virtue signalling shills in blind ignorance (both willfull and genuine) thinking that the bland, Hollywood corporates have their best interests at heart. They honestly deserve each other.
And then they condemn the people who don't want to watch their garbage. They insult us for having principles!
I mean, people who believe that brands, soulless intellectual properties controlled by corporations, give one single fuck about their interests, are completely lost. They drank the kool aid. Nothing you can say to them can save them, they will just keep consooming.

If so why did I still get a warning for calling out that aweful magical society movie?
Can't joke about my own race and can't speak up against bigotry against my race.
Is this what white privilege looks like?
Major stakeholder pressure? You mean Blakrock and Vangard?
That’s why I respect artists who come in, do their jobs, get paid and then live their personal lives outside of show business without doing things like this. It seems rare, but there acre actors out there who don’t virtue signal and keep to themselves.
“I hate giving advice because people won’t take it.” -Jack Nicholson
The virtue signaling of celebrities back during the 2016 Presidential season was my last straw. I was already slowing growing disinterested in films and TV due to the decline in quality as everything became more derivative, but when narcissistic millionaires lecture me about politics and social issues like they are the arbiters of all that is good, true and proper I tuned them out for good. And lo and behold, since then they only got worse, movies got worse, TV got worse. As long as they continue their trend of shallow virtue signaling, I will continue to walk away with my middle finger raised high.
funny that Doctor Phil coming out and calling the BS, I was shocked he actually admit that DEI is basically Marxism
Right??
Really? I hadn't heard of that. How quickly was he canceled?
In what way is DEI basically Marxism?
You dont know what Marxism is do you? I dont even support it, but you sound like such a moron throwing in words that you dont even understand because marxism = bad
I mean, no, its not. Marxism is arming the proletariat and seizing control of the means of production. DEI is transferring wealth and power from one racial group to the other. Marxism was never racist. DEI is.
On Star Trek TNG in an episode Data mentioned that TV didn't last long into the 21st century. Thought it impossible then, can believe it now.
Computers that connect directly to your brain aren't that far off. TV's days would have been numbered even without incessant messaging ruining it. Although it does seem to be on a fail speedrun rn

A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.”

7:30, as a gay guy who was dragged to the movies to watch Bros, I'd like to say, it was pretty insulting to the gay community, so much so I had to walk out half way because of some gross message the movie tried to push
It's sad what they've done in entertainment. Not just with that subject, but that's what we're talking about. In a not too different alternative universe, a show or movie could be based on a gay man and be generally accepted. "Hollywood" has spent so much time shoving messages down people's throats, a resentment has been built. Eyes roll and you get the "oh, they *_made_* him gay". Without all the throat shoving, I feel like a character could just _be_ gay and be accepted by (at least more of) culture/society. Obviously there are people that will never accept, but I'm not talking about them.

"The idea of celebrity seems to amplify the worst of human tendencies'. You could wrap up the video right there because you basically summarized the issue to one sentence.
It's amazing how they make these movies where the target audience is less than 10% of the population, then act surprised that no one goes to see it. I'm an IT Project Manager and an expert in CRM (Customer Resource Management) which is just a fancy way of saying building computer systems that calculate demographics for sales and marketing campaigns. Good examples are Salesforce, Meta and Google, which use these analytics and algorithms to target advertising to people. It's as if these modern studios simply ignore all that completely and just make a product that represents whatever little bandwagon they've attached themselves to, thinking in their narcissistic infantile brains that maybe people are stupid and will watch their movie and be instantly brainwashed into believing their nonsense. It's literally the opposite of how most companies function.
They do pay for CRM software, they just pick whichever provider tells them the biggest numbers and then act surprised when it turns out those numbers dont match reality.

In life, you need 2 out of 3 things to succeed with people. In jobs, in public, in general.
1) Be on time and be consistent in your work and life. 2) Be incredible at your work and in your purpose, which is always high-quality. 3) Be very well liked and loved by the public and especially the people in your life.
You don't need all three, but you need 2 out of three to succeed. If you manage somehow you get all three, you may indeed manage to be "great." But if you can't even manage 1, let alone 2, no one will give a shit about you.
Hollywood has failed on *ALL THREE* for the last decade or more. They could produce raw gold and distribute it to the masses, and no one would really care at this point. Hollywood needs to be fired.

I haven't gone to the theaters since about 1992 and it's not likely that I'll be going anytime soon. They've lost their way and have completely forgotten how to entertain.
I miss the old Hollywood of my childhood and teenage. I was five when my father snuck me into one of the best movie theatres (now converted into a shopping mall) in my city to watch 'The Towering Inferno'. After that, it was just a long story of me being mesmerised by the cinematic experience and being excited at every new release and inspired by it. I still remember, while in college, my friend and I went back twice to watch 'Saving Private Ryan,' bawling our eyes out each time. When my parents could afford a colour television and we upgraded to cable tv, it was HBO and Star Movies all the time, punctuated by National Geographic or Discovery.
The strange thing is: even though I am a 'brown' woman from Asia, I DID NOT need the hero of the story (be it in films or the books I devoured) to be an Asian, or woman or brown or even human (remember 'Ice Age' or 'Kung Fu Panda'?) for me to appreciate the movie and to be moved by it. Representation is good. But 'token representation' or 'representation' to prove a point without adding anything to the storyline is bad.
And for God's sake will anyone stop this plague called franchise?!?!? If you want to make a franchise, please make a 'Kill Bill'. Or even a 'Rocky' will do. Otherwise, please don't!
And Coldplay deserved that lawsuit 😂 standwithjoe
