Ive used a jet wash but only for snow foam. Then brushed and rinsed down with gentle spray from normal hose attachment. Makes a quick job of our large van.
Hi Dan, very good video as normal. You are absolutely right about a pressure washer. Personally, I think there is far too much risk of damage with them. Having had a caravan for 11 years, I've tried a few methods but when we bought our current caravan five years ago, I settled on the following method that always keeps it looking like new. I use Autoglym Caravan and Motorhome cleaner. I spray it on (a side at a time), then use warm water and a spunge to wash the caravan, making a decent lather. Then, I use a hosepipe with a spray nosle to rince it (always spraying at a 45 degree angle) before attaching a brush to the end of the hosepipe, so I can leave it mark free. Depending how warm and sunny the weather is, I try and let it dry as naturally as possible and only wipe where neccessary. If it's going to be a while before our next trip, I then put the caravan cover on so that when we are ready to go away in it again, it's like unwrapping a new present! Keep up the good work Dan.
Hi Dan. I always use a bucket and a long brush and then rinse a watering can. Works for me. It was lovely to meet you and the wife at tourer fest at the weekend. Good time had by all.
Hi Dan, good on ya fella, I have always used a pressure washer with a huge dollop of common Sense, I also use the snow foam gun with pH neutral shampoo, works a treat, do the car at the same time!!! All the best Black Country Dave
I’ve always avoided using pressure washers. We have a good pressure washer set-up in our storage but I’ve watched people looking far too close to the caravan blasting away. 😱 but like a car wash it doesn’t have a power adjuster. Safety first with the purchase prices and the cost of water damage, ingress repairs that you don’t want to lose your warranty over. Have used a large pump action sprayer that works well, would use a pressure washer but only if able to stand well enough away to reduce any possible impact damage or harm. Water like a mouse can go places and get through things you think it shouldn’t giving nasty and potentially expensive damage. Certainly easier to clean a roof with but very carefully. Well said and done Dan.
Hi Dan i use a Karcher jet wash with a snow foam lance to drag the dirt off, i also use Ceramic wax and coatings to cut down the washing needed, top tip Auto Finesse Aqua is brilliant to use before a trip as the water beads off, i also have a portable jet wash that i use when i reach site to wash off kit and the van if needed ive even washed our friends dog after he decided to roll in fox poo
Great vid Dan with good advice on how to pressure wash your van. I used to use a pressure washer on my first van but stopped due to reading lots of people saying don’t use them. I just use a bucket and a soft brush now. Cheers Martin
I have a Karcher pressure washer, and can adjust the nozzle to reduce the power, but fortunately my van is in my driveway most of the time (except for indoor winter storage) so I am able to run a normal hosepipe up the driveway which is fitted with a multi jet spray nozzle. It gives the sort of spray you have with your Bosch Dan, so I wet the van thoroughly and use a long handled brush for the roof and hard to reach bits, then a soft car wash brush or sponge for the rest. Naturally I avoid spraying water anywhere near vents or window seals, and usually dry it off with a couple of big microfibre cloths. If the van is muddy on arrival at a site, I just use a bucket and sponge, with a minimum amount of water, so as not to get the pitch too wet. Its usually only the front that needs doing, then a good wash when returning home. That Bosch washer looks good though!
Good common sense advice Dan. I have always used a pressure washer on the caravan up to date having no problem. Sound advice low pressure setting and stand back don’t put water into vents. And all should be ok 👍
Hi Dan I use a pressure washer on our caravan as you suggested just a fine mist of water (i use the soap attachment with water to soak the van) then add Caravan cleaner solutions Aldis or Fenwicks and a few weeks ago i purchased from ebay Diamondbrite no 1 and no 2 and coated the caravan and i also bought a diamond valet kit from ebay with all the different solutions as per your previous diamonbrite video i only paid £20 plus cost of no 1 and no 2 bottles got a bargain it was from a trade dealer clearing stocks also i use the aldi caravan cleaning solution for acrylic windows the new range is quite good thanks for the video
Hi dan yes i have just purchased one for my van. Like you my van is in storage so i need a portable one but i chose the worx hydroshot does the job well. No problems with any water getting into the van at the moment. I guess time will tell.
I have never used a pressure washer but managed to dislodge part of sealant around roof light when cleaning before, so starting leaking. Easy enough fix so very careful since then with caravan cleaning.
We, warm soapy wash our Swift Caravan and then rinse off with our portable mobi V17 pressure washer. (12 volt and mains). No issues thus far. Its very good at rinsing off the detritus from the roof and therefore keeping optimum solar panel performance.
I use a petrol station forecourt jet wash, initially the hot foam brush, then 'spot free rinse' which is low pressure filtered water. I've never had a drop inside my 34 year old ABI Supreme, so a modern caravan should be fine. Second point, as you say, don't get too close, and be sensible around vents.
when I 1st got our caravan I used my works Karcher pressure washer and I thought I damaged seals on my roof vent as water was coming in but luckily never saw any water in since
When we had a motorhome (we’re now caravanners!) we asked the dealership to wash it after it had been serviced. Stupidly, we didn’t take photos before we went, but they were a dealership - albeit a small one - so we trusted that they would not damage it! As we drove off we saw a caravan being pressure washed by the staff. When we got it home I stepped inside the MH and was horrified to find extremely dirty water all over the cooker top and work surface where the pressure washer had forced the water under the roof light. Worse than that, when we looked at the outside, we saw that the washer had removed several patches of the decorative transfers! We couldn’t prove they had done this, as no before/after dated photos. A hard lesson learned by us! Never again!!!
Hi Dan, as you said, every time I've been to a dealership, I see them using pressure washers, as for us, we don't have electric at our storage, so we use a pump up power washer, did upload a vlog. It does the trick.
Hi Dan, thanks for sharing . I have used a powerwash in the past and been very carefull but now use the hand pump and brush combination I reviewed on my channel on top of the paintseal treatment a safe option. Nice to have met you and family @ tf19..👍 all the best Rob
Dan, I have the Karcher version of your Bosch. Very small, rechargeable and portable. I purchased the accessory kit to go with it which has a brush attachment and hose which can go into another water source such as an Aquaroll/Colapz bucket etc. I must be really sad as I keep mine in the front locker all the time for use on site or storage !!! It is actually small enough. Check it out. Really enjoyed Tourerfest last week and thanks again for your efforts etc in organising the event. Nick T.
Great tip Dan, I've been considering getting the Bosch portable jet washer, so I think you've just made up my mind now all I have to do is to convinced Karen that it's a good idea Best wishes Jon
In the caravan manual it does say not to use a pressure washer, could jeopardise the warranty & yet the dealers do just that;use a pressure washer! For me, I won't. Thanks for a formative video.
Hi Dan, very interesting vlog, I think many steer away from a pressure washer one because of seals, vents and decals also I can image a high percentage of people keep there caravans on a storage yard making it difficult to use a pressure washer. It does look a darn sight easier though than the current pressure 10l bottle system I use. I’ll definitely be looking at your review of the portable pressure washer. Thanks for sharing. Cheers Stuart.
Hi Dan I have previously used my pressure washer on the van albeit very gingerly. My wash regime is Using a hose pipe wet van all over (including roof) to remove loose dust, dirt and grime. Liberally apply CIF to the roof and using a brush on a long pole remove the green and brown muck that seems to accumulate. Rinse van all over. Spay Fenwicks black streak remover all over van. Contact wash with microfibre cloths and brushes. Rinse again. Spray Fenwicks Bobby Dazzler from garden sprayer and dry off with micro fibre cloth. Apply good quality car polish twice during season. Stand back and admire.
Hi Dan. Great video. I’m going to buy a Worx hydro shot. Mainly because is battery power and low pressure. I’ll use a snow foam with it. Ideal for our circumstances. Any thoughts??
With the grp I find it’s easy to clean the black marks off with just a bucket of soapy water and a sponge. I’ve never used a pressure washer only on the car then I go careful with that.
Hi, I use the worx portable jet washer, less pressure and all you need is a bucket or two of water. If you don’t have access to water at your storage, fill an aquaroll and use a bucket. It’s great for rinsing off the soapy water. Leave the karcher for home jobs.
Ah, Chris you should have said hi, we dont bite and despite what others may think - are generally normal people. If you see us again, please do say hi, always happy to chat. Take care Dan
Hi Dan and all I have to say I would not use a pressure washer. My whale pump system works for me and it is each to their own method . But I have to admit common sense is the order of the day. Phil.👍
Hi Dan Very usefull vid again! Noticed that you have a New Blue wheel clamp, nice, What are your thoughts about these things? are they worth the £130+ you buy them for? produced any vids about security?
Yes I think on low pressure and avoiding all vents your ok to use a pressure washer.and like you say caravan dealers use them. Dealers also get up on a caravan roof to clean it. Some say you shouldn't what's your view on that Dan ?
I use hazelock pressure washer which is pump up Good pressure for cleaning van But may try this pressure washer Thankyou for video Dan Oh your link is not working so could not read up about this pressure washer
The Trudgians a mate of my complained that he lost a set of spammers earlier. I replied saying I had some spammers he could borrow as my phone decided that it no longer knew the word spanners - so I feel your pain.
Dan, I think item 3 on your list should be “diffused” and not disused - Blame the auto correct spell checker... I do all the time! Thanks for another great video.
Interesting subject this, my pressure Washer is much more aggressive than That never use on van will stick to a hose and brush .see lots of vans being Cleaned in the local polish car cleaning joint asking for trouble i think
I think dealers use pressure washers simply for speed when they have a lot of vans to prep ready for collection etc. My pressure washer is far more agressive than your Bosch and I wont buy buying another pressure washer simply to wash the van. I would need to stand so far back with my washer I would soak everything surrounded it and by the time it hit the van, I might as well use the hose! I think we have to ask ourselves do we NEED to use a pressure washer!
Hi Dan. Very well put across. My main problem when washing the van is the roof. Pressure washers I have had in the past haven’t had a long enough hose to reach the roof. Any tips on using a pressure washer on the roof please? Cheers Steve
I would never use one. The industry is wrong, you can and will deforme the aluminium panels on your van. I would only ever use a hand driven washer and avoid all joins or holes. !!!!
Ive used a jet wash but only for snow foam. Then brushed and rinsed down with gentle spray from normal hose attachment. Makes a quick job of our large van.

I use the worx hydroshot battery pressure washer, does a good job especially like the snow foam attachment, cleans my van in no time!

Hi Dan
I bought the Bosch about a week ago just to clean my van but have not had chance to use it yet great review on your site
Great tip Dan, I've been considering getting the Bosch portable jet washer, so I think you've just made up my mind now all I have to do is to convinced Karen that it's a good idea
Best wishes
Jon
Interesting, but we will stay with your method of cleaning the van when you had the lunar. Always works for us.
In the caravan manual it does say not to use a pressure washer, could jeopardise the warranty & yet the dealers do just that;use a pressure washer! For me, I won't. Thanks for a formative video.
HI Dan I use the worx hydroshot pressure washer
Hi Dan, very interesting vlog, I think many steer away from a pressure washer one because of seals, vents and decals also I can image a high percentage of people keep there caravans on a storage yard making it difficult to use a pressure washer. like in one of your vlogs we always use a mop and brush and stardrops followed by a coat of turtle wax.
Hi Dan I have previously used my pressure washer on the van albeit very gingerly. My wash regime is
Using a hose pipe wet van all over (including roof) to remove loose dust, dirt and grime.
Liberally apply CIF to the roof and using a brush on a long pole remove the green and brown muck that seems to accumulate.

Hi Dan. Great video. I’m going to buy a Worx hydro shot. Mainly because is battery power and low pressure. I’ll use a snow foam with it. Ideal for our circumstances. Any thoughts??
hi.. have you runned this on battery inverter?
With the grp I find it’s easy to clean the black marks off with just a bucket of soapy water and a sponge. I’ve never used a pressure washer only on the car then I go careful with that.
Hi Dan. Interesting video, but still not enough to convince me to put a pressure washer near my van.
What is a disused spray? Diffused.
Got the first like Dan, and from the land down under!
good idea but we don't have access to hose pipe any , any idea Dan ?
I think the unit that Dan is showing has a tank instead of needing a hose pipe.
Hi, I use the worx portable jet washer, less pressure and all you need is a bucket or two of water. If you don’t have access to water at your storage, fill an aquaroll and use a bucket. It’s great for rinsing off the soapy water. Leave the karcher for home jobs.
hi dan! i saw you guys at swindon caravans today, was too chicken to say hi though LOL! hope you are all well....
Ah, Chris you should have said hi, we dont bite and despite what others may think - are generally normal people. If you see us again, please do say hi, always happy to chat.
Take care
Dan
Top video dan but one question. What’s a disused spray? Check out the top tips list!
Hi Dan and all I have to say I would not use a pressure washer. My whale pump system works for me and it is each to their own method . But I have to admit common sense is the order of the day. Phil.👍
That's just a pressured hose to be fair. That's very good level of pressure.
I use hazelock pressure washer which is pump up
Good pressure for cleaning van
But may try this pressure washer
Thankyou for video Dan
Oh your link is not working so could not read up about this pressure washer
Dan, what’s a disused spray (see the text at 5:45). Sorry could resist.
ah, that would be my ducking auto correct for you. lol.
Thanks for another great video.
auto correct... i ducking hate it. cheers for the heads up.
Interesting subject this, my pressure

That's not really a pressure washer I have a garden hose pipe with the same adjustable nozzle as that
its called common sense
diffused spray, not disused surely/
you can blame this faux pas on my ducking auto correct :-)
Hi Dan. Very well put across. My main problem when washing the van is the roof. Pressure washers I have had in the past haven’t had a long enough hose to reach the roof. Any tips on using a pressure washer on the roof please? Cheers Steve
Simples, get a longer hose :)
My Karcher pressure washer came with a long enough hose, so you should be able to get replacements.
I can't hear you
Sue Fisher ... turn your volume up 🤔
I would never use one.
The industry is wrong, you can and will deforme the aluminium panels on your van. I would only ever use a hand driven washer and avoid all joins or holes. !!!!
What a pointless video, that would never clean a caravan alone.
Did I say it would?
The Trudgians what’s the point then? Complete waste of time.
NOT pointless to new people who are starting out caravanning. Great advise in my opinion. :-)
I found the video quite informative, I do think your comment is rather pointless though.
TicketyBoo whats the point in spraying a caravan with a fine mist of water to clean it? It’s never going to work !
