Thanks! Did not manage to film the entire process as we wanted though - time was running away, it was cold and wet. Will probably have to find another caravan!
A friend of mine lost his grandad and he owned a small caravan that I intend to restore with similar techniques that youre using thanks for the insight will be installing a plaque for his grandfather inside as a token of appreciation for giving me the trailer
No, actually not. Definitely do not recommend this method for cleaning though. Avoid the seams at least. Unfortunately the owner has not been able to finish the cleaning yet...
When those are that heavy with organic you need to hit them with a 6% sodium hypochlorite. Then you neutralize the surface with a salt/SH neutralizer and then you wash as you normally would. Your able to rinse with 250 to 350 psi after you apply the SH and it cleans up very nice. They key is to neutralize very well after you use the 6% bleach. Its the only way to get it nice and bright like you want and would have made this job easy for you.
Bleach would help immensely with the mold buildup. Wet it down and let it soak a bit. Then scrub with a medium stiff brush to remove the bulk of it. Then spray it down with a 50/50 mix of bleach and water with a good dose of Dawn soap. Dawn will help it cling better and not dry up too fast. After a little bit, give it a good pressure wash. Repeat if really stubborn. Always start with the roof first so you're not messing up the wash you just did on the sides.
Dawn rinses horribly and drys out and rots rubber and plastic even more. Also dawn neutralizes the bleach and when something is this covered in organic just bleach alone will foam up and cling like crazy. This is lichen, algae, and mildew not mold and when it’s that heavy, you don’t want to pre-wet the surface, you want to apply the bleach heavy at 4-6% sh content then reapply in areas that are starting to dry up in order to keep the surface in full dwell for at least 15 to 20 minutes. Then while it’s still wet and all the organic growth is in a soft state you start to rinse and it should come off quite easily. then you neutralize everything and do a normal wash, followed by a protectant on the surface making sure you rehydrate all the rubber in plastic giving you an excellent final product.
Go to Asda and purchase some thing called bleach and costic soada and also get something called wash powder that would get rid of all the crap off your caravan or why dint you put the caravan through the truck washer
It's not really recommended to use a powerful jet wash with caravans or /rv. The sheer pressure can dislodge seals and cause water ingress. I do feel your not thought this through properly. There's some superb chemicals as viewers have suggested to break down algea and mold gently. Foam first is not ideal you need to aggitate it. I sincerely hope you haven't broken any seals with the pressure of water for the new owner.😢
I find the following soft wash can be effective on this type of contamination, obviously color test a bit first. 1% Hypochlorite solution with 0.5ltr Biological laundry detergent per 10ltr of solution. You can add a bit of foaming soap to keep it wet longer and help it stick but spray it on and let it work, give it time and you will see the lichen etc. change color than when you wash the contamination will have lost its adhesion and should clean off without the excessive pressure being required. Give stubborn bits a second spray. For a bit of a test make up a solution of just biological laundry detergent and let it dwell overnight before rinsing off.
i would of used pool shock 1 to 1 ratio on it soft wash would of taken all the algae off very easy i use it all the time works great only would have to wait about a minute then rinse and redo if needed but still looks great for how you had to do it
@@thedetailer9125 it was still a good thing you did you tried different items and showed us what kinda worked and what didn't work .soft washing you will love it for houses decks bad algie so many different ways to use it great work any way 👍 👏 😀
It's really a good job👏

Nice video! Dirty caravan
Not anymore 😁
underated , good job
Good stuff! Great video, thanks for sharing!
Thanks Chris!
I want to know if water leaked into the camper. It was apparent around one of the windows but nothing mentioned about other leaks.

Did you got water inside after this cleaning?
I watched the site clean a large caravan with a jet wash. It leaked everywhere after. I can’t bring myself to try just in case.
Patio magic would have cleaned it without all that work give it a try ☺️.
Hi guys why dint you try something more powerful called cilite bang
The cleaner we used is very alkalic, not sure if something like cilite bang would work any better to be honest! /T
nice. was wondering if i f*** up RV by doing this, i c it works :)
I wonder if a pressure steamer would work on that deep dirt? Great vid though
My experience is that those are slow to work with - maybe an industrial grade one. The problem though is the high temperature of that.

It feels and looks like you have never washed a car or a camper.
If I could recommend any product it's drill brushes they saved my life
how about using a clay bar on the roof to get the remainder off
Might work, but the discoloration is in the roof plate so I have my doubts!
You have to use beach. good grief.
God bruksanvisning på hvordan man ikke skal vaske en campingvogn
Anbefaler ikke denne metoden for normal vask av caravan nei. I dette tilfellet var alternativet at vogna ble trilla rett til huggeriet!
Good old elbow grease doese it... 👍
That always seems to work, yes! /T

I will make a note of that. That being said, I am a bit skeptical about anything containing chlorine. Thanks! /T

Would bleach have stripped the moss and dirt off?
Maybe, but chlorine is pretty harsh on a lot of surfaces. So not worth the risk imo
@@thedetailer9125 You are probably right! I was thinking something diluted with water to kill off the mold. Dank u wel!
@@RedRuffinsore in that case something with chlorine is the way to go. I know Jotun has a mildew remover but never tried it.
There is no need for background music on this video....ppl need to hear YOUR voice only....
music is awful, detracts from video's message
Hi Keith, will make a note of that - the balance between no music at all and music all the time is a bit tricky ;) /T
