Ray made the logical choice. He doesn't pick between them causing resentment between the 2. Picks a person they both can be mad at. They're going to be mad regardless but not at each other and ray just ray himself.

Yes, he chose another football fan. Otherwise it would have been a waste of a ticket if the other doesn’t enjoy sports.
My ex scored some Super Bowl tickets, and I agreed with him that I shouldn’t go bc I wouldn’t appreciate it as much.
When I landed tickets for Comic Con San Diego (takes ~5 years to get them), I brought my ex. He’s not a fan of nerdy stuff, so I ended up enjoying the activities by myself. It was a waste of an extra ticket.
It would have been better if he gave both tickets to Frank and Robert. This way, Frank may have teased Ray less after the gesture and Frank and Robert would have been very happy with Ray. And if Frank or Robert teased Ray then Ray could remind them. The only downside is that Ray would have had to have paid for a plane ticket and a motel room for Frank or Robert as his job was covering the cost of the flight and hotel room. But he flew Debra over to join him and Gianni so he had the money.
Debra would still be mad but Ray should have said he would plan a getaway for them in the coming weeks after the superbowl. And with Ray's job, he could have had another opportunity to go during another year.
Or here is an interesting idea, He could have given the tickets to Marie and Frank so that Debra would have had the house to herself without Marie/Frank barging in nor Ray being home as he had to report on the Superbowl with his job. This gives Debra some alone time which would make her very happy and keep Frank semi-happy (with the downside being that he would have to watch the game with Marie). Robert would have still been mad but he would know that at least Ray would not get to see the game.
After watching this whole episode, I understand why Raymond chose him. He knew that no matter who he picked, they would argue and fight over it. And he would never hear the end of it through the entire Super Bowl weekend. So he chose his friend who he knew would have a blast and a good time with while working. He knew Debra didn’t want to go for the game because she is not a football person. Which is fine, nothing wrong with liking sports. Not a big fan of sports myself. However this was Raymond’s job at the end of the day. Not some all expense paid trip to Europe or Hawaii or the Bahamas. The few rare times I was with Raymond. Thanks for uploading.

Unless you have VIP seating or one of those suites/press boxes, you're better off watching the game at home.
Avoiding the yammering commentary alone makes attending the game worthwhile.

ELR is such a guilty pleasure of a show. Everyone is such a terrible person (besides Debra and Amy), but I can't stop watching these assholes all treat each other like shit. It's almost like Family Guy.

@@989Studioshonestly, i'd be just as bitchy as her if I had a husband like Ray. No idea why she married him. It had to be for the money and his humor since he makes her laugh and can afford an entire house on his own writing about sports.

Giani isnt even a good friend to Ray. It makes sense why he would take him over Robert or Frank.
Because either Robert or Frank would be bragging about going to the Super Bowl.
