    Hi Pamela, When you have painted your board ( or canvas) with acrylic paint, would it be easier to turn your collage stencil piece over and press it into the wet paint, when dry peel off the parchment paper? Then you would not have to deal with the delicate transfers. I also make acrylic paint transfers onto glass and they peel off well. Cutting them up is great fun.
    Also placing the stencils and only spraying small areas as you move them around works great to get many personal patterns.
    Lovely to watch someone enjoying their art. Thank you for sharing xx

      Yes if you can find vinyl that is paper thin but like attracts like!

  • @carlagrayson1810

    This is such an inventive way to use stencils. Great video.
    For these particular stencils, I was drawn to the pattern of the actual stencils themselves (rather than shapes they leave behind). Do you have ideas how one could do this in general? Maybe there is a method to take a stencil and use it to create a mask?

    • @bodyofhope
      @bodyofhope 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you ever find out how to achieve this?

    • @carlagrayson1810
      @carlagrayson1810 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bodyofhope The best option I could come up with is using a gel plate. Lay down color, use the stencil as a mask, pull a print. Remove stencil. Then pull a print of the design that is left behind.

    • @mixedmedialife7916
      @mixedmedialife7916 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@bodyofhope You could charge a brayer with the colour you want, roll it across the stencil, then lay the stencil painted side down on your substrate. Put down a pc of paper on top and rub with a brayer or your hand.

    I tried this technique and found it impossible to separate the backing. Very frustrating. I will try again with more layers of gel, but I really don't know how you peeled off the parchment paper.

    • @PamelaCaughey
      @PamelaCaughey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ellen - the trick is to make sure the initial layers of Acrylic Gloss medium are thick enough - you need at least 2- 3 thin layers. If too thin, yes, it will be next to impossible to peel the parchment paper away :)

    J’adore mais ne comprends rien : le flacon blanc : est-ce de la peinture blanche acrylique ou colle ?

    • @mixedmedialife7916
      @mixedmedialife7916 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Je pense que c'est "milieu polymère acrylique" (Google translate!). Ce n'est pas de la peinture, ou de la colle. C'est comme de la peinture, mais sans pigment. Il peut diluent la peinture acrylique. J'espere que cela a du sens?!!

      It has been really beneficial for me to see how long the stages of the various processes are. I tend to be impatient and unrealistic in my expectations of the time and attention needed. This way I am more likely to set aside more time and I am more likely to enjoy the prepartion process as much as the painting process.

    I don't understand why a "demo" was made to show the clearly obvious method of using a stencil; especially for such a basic application. Any elementary child could figure this out in two seconds. And it took 37 minutes of chitter chatter when this could have been made without saying a single word.

    • @mixedmedialife7916
      @mixedmedialife7916 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wow - you live in a country where elementary [school] children have access to and know how to use acrylic polymer medium and Golden spray paints (with their various nozzles) to make personalized acrylic transfers from artist-designed stencils? Colour me impressed.
