I'm using libe sensor with blucon nightrider and my readings are same as libre reader. The most important we all miss in Libre sensor is Alarm. Blucon is the cheapest and best solution for all diabetic community. It gives readings on phone and watch every 5 minutes without scanning the sensor and it gives me alarm whenever my glucose goes HI/Lo. There are multiple options in alarm like we can set it for Fast Rise and Fast Drop, we can snooze the alarm and many more. My caregivers are now happy as they can follow my readings.
Oh my goodness - thank you to you and your son for watching and for your kind words! I'm so happy you've found the video helpful - truly it is my pleasure! I wish you both all the very best and good wishes for your new Libre!!!
Like you, I've been a diabetic a good number of years. After watching a number of your videos, (and commenting), I decided to get a Libre a few days ago. Had a few wobbles with the reader detecting the sensor; often requiring a number of swipes, but on the whole, what an AMAZING difference a FGM system makes!! Every once in awhile, something comes along, that seems to make managing diabetics a lot easier. Though early days, I'm already feeling Libre is one of them! So thanks Andrea, for all your great videos!! I thank you, and so do my fingers! lol :-)
AH! I'm so glad you're loving the system so much and that it's given those fingers a break - hooray! You are so so welcome, and thank you for your kind words!!

I just want you to know, I love your videos. I got the freestyle and used this video while I did my insertion and it made it a lot easier knowing I was experiencing it with you so to speak.
I am using libre sensor with Blucon which sits on top of the FreeStyle Libre sensor and sends glucose readings to the phone and watches every 5 minutes. It works with ALL FreeStyle Libre sensors(FreeStyle Libre US14 Day, Libre 2, Libre pro, Libre) sold in any part of the world.
@@ShesDiabetic Thanks for the videos! My Endo gave me a sample of both the Freestyle Libre and the G6, so I'll be testing and trying to decide between the two!
I m using freestyle libre sensor with blucon nightrider as third party for CGM. I have realised if you put sensor properly it hardly pains, correct technique is very important. I activate sensor with my blucon and i am able to reset it beyond 14 days.
I am being told i don't meet the criteria for a CGM like the Dexcom G5 and G6 . The only one that I can have on the NHS is the Freestyle Libre, however i don't have a compatible phone and I can't afford the luxury of a computer. If i do have the Libre i am still stuck with writing all my results down .
I'm so sorry to hear this. We certainly all have a long way to go when it comes to getting people the help they need. The NHS should, however, provide you with a reader that will store your readings and give you 30 day averages, etc. Perhaps this would be of help to you? Just thinking out loud. I want to make sure you get the help you need.
To keep them on I use iv 3000 fold in half and cut a little hole in it so it's not covering scan site, also the sensor can take up to 12 hours to catch up to your meter, (blood sugars )dont use your reader..
Just curious...how do you dispose of all the stuff when you’re done? Can’t find a definitive answer anywhere. My doc says to just put all the waste in the trash. I’m still learning.
Great question! There's such a lot of waste, eh!? I recycle what I can, and the sharps are put into a sharps container, the rest in the trash. I hope this helps! :)
The sensor lasts 14 days, so you have to change it every 14 days. In terms of the cost in the US, I'm really not exactly sure, as it very much depends on your insurance coverage. Perhaps some others can chime in here and help answer your question 🙏🏻 From my rough rough guestimation from some anecdotal research I think one sensor would cost $90-$110 without insurance. I hope this helps answer your questions!
I've been using the Freestyle Libre for 6 months and i love them, they have helped me enormously. However, the glue used to attack it to my arm causes an irritating itch. Anyone else have similar problems?
Great job, pretty girl! am using the FreeStyle Libre with the nightrider and able to replace my Dexcom G6 I had earlier. I made a switch to save some money and I wanted to get readings on my apple watch without he iPhone which not possible with Dexcom

Hi there Lovely, I’m in the Uk , I’ve just found you recently, thank you so much for your authenticity and sharing of your diabetic journey and all the “highs and lows” pardon the pun 😉, I’m learning so much about new technology from you , I’ve been type 1 for 13 years , at best I have muddled through . I’ve only just begun to seek other options , the dexcom 6 looks fab but out of my price range , So the Libre looks like my best option , I really can’t get my head around the fact it’s not available on the nhs, ...?? I lie , .... actually , it is but you have to meet a ridiculous criteria in order to obtain one , you need to have disabling hypos ... I don’t know of any diabetics who are not “ disabled “ during a hypo ..? I’m investigating around to see how I can raise this unacceptable indictment towards type 1 diabetics . We all deserve a better quality of life . So glad to have found you , thank you , beautiful female ✨☺️
Yea I finally did it I was so scared to do it took me a week to do today is June the 15 2019 I have charged my tablet phone thank you so for showing that I felt good it and it didn’t hurt me either God Bless You for doing that .
Thank you so much, I have a huge fear of needles and it scared the sh*t out of me that I had to put that on me! I've watch the same 10 seconds where you insert it and was able to do it on me, thanks for showing ! And it's true, it doesn't hurt at all, I was juste very surprise how the spring is strong. I think it distracted me !
GOOD FOR YOU!!! I TOTALLY HEAR YOU!! Well...you saw my reaction when I saw that needle...I was like...whaaaaaaa!!! I'm so glad it didn't hurt and completely agree about the spring - it just seems so so aggressive! 😂 Hope it's treating you well!!!
I have been using the Freestyle Libre since it came out in the Belgian market almost two years ago and I have to say that when it's accurate its amazing. However, when I get an inaccurate sensor it completely ruins my trust in the system... and unfortunately in my case it happens to at least one in every three sensors I use...
Hi Qr! Thanks for your comment! I'm so sorry to hear about your battle with the inaccuracy and inconsistency with the Libre system - that is SO frustrating! And I totally understand the thing where it makes you completely loose faith in the system...Since filming this I have tried out and subsequently moved to the Dexcom G6 System full time. I love the alarms and the accuracy is second to none, especially in the low ranges which is critical for me. I really hope you can find something that works well for you and you can rely on (so important!!)
Hi Stan, thanks for your comment! So I am no longer on the Freestyle Libre system, and have since switched over to the Dexcom G6 system, however, when I was on it, I would order it directly from Abbott in the UK (which is where I’m based). I’m so sorry to hear you’re having trouble getting a hold of the system - that is frustrating indeed!! I hope you have success very very soon!!
I purchased from CCSMed and my meter and two sensors arrived today and I just inserted one of the sensors. No pain whatsoever and I'm waiting to take the first reading. FYI, getting my doctor to properly fill out the paperwork from CCSMed took forever and it was mostly the fault of ,my doctor's office but that's par for the course with this medical group. I was there the second time the doctor completed the simple form and he still got it wrong. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to trying out the Libre System because I've had really good experiences with other meters from Abbot. Their meters are very reliable and they have excellent technical/product support when something eventually goes wrong with their meters. One more thing...going forward this will save me money. In the past, Medicare has limited my testing to 3 times a day whereas each Libre sensor gives me 24 hour coverage for 14 days. So I'll save money on test strips since I normally test about 6 times a day. As far as CCSMed is concerned...I recommend that you stay on top of what's happening and keep calling your doctor until they get the paperwork back. That will help a lot at least it did in my case. Good Luck
Ed Thom Not just that, Medicare requires that I take insulin 5 x per day. So if you’re Type 2 & use pills, tough luck! I have to order privately at about 65 per sensor! And the reader? Don’t even ask! Good thing that lasts indefinitely. We are SO behind the rest of the world it’s obscene!
@@0restes It's a horrible thing to deny medicine and medical devices...it's really unbelievable and shocking that the insurance can tell a person what they can and can't have...instead of the doctors. It blows my mind!
hi Andrea I have been using the Libre freestyle for nearly three months. About the same amount of time as I have been an adult with LADA. Before getting the lbre freestyle Fl;ash sensor I was having massive highs and lows since using the Libre flash sensor for near three months I have just had my HBA1C and the results were no action required from my doctor. For me it has meant that at last I feel like I am in control of my diabetes for the first time in 23 years. In Australia. Because I am on a pension the Libre free style sensors for me are fully subsidised so I pay nothing for them which is an added bonus. I would have continued to try and fund this tech for myself as I can see the real benefit of realtime sugar levels. As I don't use a pump I don't need to have that level of integration. I only use the app for the android for reading my sensor
i had the sensor on since after 7 pm almost 8 pm i tap for new sensor says wait for an hour but machine keep going dark i push blue to turn on it show to scan glucos then it resets on me
Oh gosh- I never experienced that! It does have to complete the warm up stage, but shouldn't reset. I hope you've been able to come out of this reset stage, or perhaps you can call Abbott for their help. Again - so so sorry for this - must be extremely frustrating!!
I have heard of it with the Libre, but never tried it myself. I would be very wary of doing this because you may get inaccurate readings and thus have problems with the data and amount of insulin you're dosing, etc. This is just my personal opinion of course! There's lots of into out there from other sources to help you with this, but I personally would not do it myself from a safety perspective. I hope this helps!
Oh no!! That is so annoying!! I’m so sorry to hear this!! I hope you can get it sorted out sooner rather than later and that a sensor is soon to follow!! MAJOR BUMMER!!! :-(
I have 2 finger stick monitors 1 is off by 70 points and 1 is off by 40 points. I can’t trust them at all. I have to go with something different. Sometimes I can’t even get blood through my finger. And when I get readings of 560 I need to know so I don’t pass out.
Oh my gosh I'm so so sorry to hear this. That must be both exhausting and scary all at once :(. Maybe have a look at the Dexcom G6 - it's better than this device in terms of accuracy and can alert you with alarms via your phone to tell you when you're going too high or low. Could be a great help for you it sounds like. Sending you strength!!
I’m so sorry to hear that Sean. That is unbelievably annoying and unacceptable. I hope you were able to speak to their customer service team to figure out what was causing that or to get your money back.
Yes, the Libre is testing through your sub Q fluid (it has a fancier name) and finger pricks test off of capillary samples. My endo explained it to me that they will be close but different, as your glucose dissipates at different rates depending on where it's stored. My Libre is always 20 wish points lower, but likely a more accurate representation of my glucose.
If you compare it to your finger stick tester that can be off. I have 2 of them and 1 is off 40 and the other is off 70. I compared them to a lab test.
Oh I'm so sorry to hear that Donna - that's not good at all. I would encourage you to contact Abbott and see what they have to say. That kind of differential is unacceptable. Thank you for sharing this with the community here. I hope you can get this sorted out.
Nice video. I use Blucon device and freestyle Libre sensor to check my diabetes also, I share my blood glucose values with my doctor through Ambrosia Followblucon app which really helps me alot when my glucose values goes out of range. According to me Freestyle Libre is the best.
I had so many issues with Bubble earlier. Now I am using Libre14 days with Ambrosia Blucon as the device is really very helpful for me and give me voice alerts when the glucose levels go high and low.
@@elesjohn1751 I am using Libre with BluCon NightRider and love the alarm feature in the LinkBluCon app, it gives me alerts whenever my values go down.
Warning the sensors are not accurate I’ve experienced a difference of 10 to 15 point difference between sensor and blood test strip on with several different sensors use with caution with the Freestyle Libre
I'm so sorry to hear this, and thank you for sharing your experience Steve. I always had pretty good luck with the accuracy with my Libre, but I know others have struggled, so clearly it's a very case specific situation, and that's very frustrating. With regards to your inaccuracies, I would encourage you to contact Abbott directly when you have these issues and see if they have anything that can help remedy this/replace the potentially faulty sensor. I hope this helps! Once again, thank you for sharing this with the community here.
This is not a real time type sensor. It takes a reading every 5 minutes and give an avg over the last 5 readings. If you want a live time sensor you need to look at the Dexcom or similar.
dont waste your money. get a dexcom. my readings with the libre were never close to my blood glucose. had a scan of 98 and immediately took a glucose wich was 307 save your life and just go with the dexcom
I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad time with the Libre. I know the results really vary from person to person. I'm glad to hear you've found the Dexcom to be so good though - I've also switched to the Dexcom since using it!

I don’t know of any diabetics who are not “ disabled “ during a hypo ..? I’m investigating around to see how I can raise this unacceptable indictment towards type 1 diabetics . We all deserve a better quality of life .
So glad to have found you , thank you , beautiful female ✨☺️
It IS available on the NHS
so do you change the whole device every 14 days or just the little white circle???? please reply!!!
Yes - whole device!
Yea I finally did it I was so scared to do it took me a week to do today is June the 15 2019 I have charged my tablet phone thank you so for showing that I felt good it and it didn’t hurt me either God Bless You for doing that .
YAY!!!!! Awesome job Carole!!!! Proud of you!!!
So the sensor always comes with the launcher (applicator)?
Correct!
@@ShesDiabetic thanks! Will get one by the end of month. Looking forward for easy way of checking! 🙂
I have one since yesterday but the plug in her vlds are not the same us the on in belgium
How did you get your Freestyle Libre? I have been trying to get me one from CCSMed for the pass 6 weeks. 2/4/2019
I purchased from CCSMed and my meter and two sensors arrived today and I just inserted one of the
sensors. No pain whatsoever and I'm waiting to take the first reading.
FYI, getting my doctor to properly fill out the paperwork from CCSMed took forever and it was mostly
the fault of ,my doctor's office but that's par for the course with this medical group. I was there the second
time the doctor completed the simple form and he still got it wrong.
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to trying out the Libre System because I've had really good
experiences with other meters from Abbot. Their meters are very reliable and they have excellent
technical/product support when something eventually goes wrong with their meters.
One more thing...going forward this will save me money. In the past, Medicare has limited my testing to
3 times a day whereas each Libre sensor gives me 24 hour coverage for 14 days. So I'll save money on
test strips since I normally test about 6 times a day.
As far as CCSMed is concerned...I recommend that you stay on top of what's happening and keep
calling your doctor until they get the paperwork back. That will help a lot at least it did in my case.
Good Luck
Stan Wilson in the US, you need a doctor’s prescription.
I just watched this cause I Just got one Just wanted to watch how to used it Thank you and you are sooooo dam!!!! CUTE,,,,,,, Thank's
Oh thank you! I'm so glad to know you've found this helpful! Thank you! :)
AWESOME VLOG REAL TIME.
Thank you so much! :)
How much sensor are one packaging ?
One sensor per pack, but you can buy them in packs of 3 and 6 I believe.
Thank you 😊
hi Andrea I have been using the Libre freestyle for nearly three months.
How long do you leave it in ?
It lasts for 14 days! :)
I'm getting mine when I'm home for thanksgiving
Ekkk!! Exciting!!!
@@ShesDiabetic I know!!
i had the sensor on since after 7 pm almost 8 pm i tap for new sensor says wait for an hour but machine keep going dark i push blue to turn on it show to scan glucos then it resets on me
Oh gosh- I never experienced that! It does have to complete the warm up stage, but shouldn't reset. I hope you've been able to come out of this reset stage, or perhaps you can call Abbott for their help. Again - so so sorry for this - must be extremely frustrating!!
once inserted you have to wait an hour before it "activates" and you can get a reading
Correct! Thank you for sharing this Matthew!
question, have you heard of extending the life of a censor longer than 14 days? Would you recommend it?
I have heard of it with the Libre, but never tried it myself. I would be very wary of doing this because you may get inaccurate readings and thus have problems with the data and amount of insulin you're dosing, etc. This is just my personal opinion of course! There's lots of into out there from other sources to help you with this, but I personally would not do it myself from a safety perspective. I hope this helps!
I just got my reader here in the states on Medicaid, but there’s no sensor in the box... bummed
Oh no!! That is so annoying!! I’m so sorry to hear this!! I hope you can get it sorted out sooner rather than later and that a sensor is soon to follow!! MAJOR BUMMER!!! :-(
What state are you in? My condition - Type II is not covered at all since we have to take insulin 5 x daily. It’s obscene. So I pay out of pocket.
Unfortunately I had problems with the sensors I used, always 20 to 70 points off
I’m so sorry to hear that Sean.
Magic!
🪄😍
I love me some diabeetus! My father was a T1, I am a T1 and my daughter is a T1.
Just like me! It certainly does run in the family! My Bro is and Dad was as well ❤️❤️❤️
@@ShesDiabetic I am looking into getting this. My glucose has been all over the place lately.
Can you boop this with your iWatch?
Not that I’m aware of! That would be cool though!
Yeah, mine is almost always 50 points higher than finger pricking..... so disappointing
Oh I'm so sorry to hear that Donna - that's not good at all. I would encourage you to contact Abbott and see what they have to say. That kind of differential is unacceptable. Thank you for sharing this with the community here. I hope you can get this sorted out.
That’s what I did when my reader was giving me below hypo readings. They’re sending me a replacement sensor.
You should have scream real loud when you put the sensor to scared everybody. Hahaha
LOL - that made me laugh Dan!
This one is my favorite 💖
Exactly - thanks for sharing that Tobin!
Unless you compared them to an actual lab test you can’t really say witch one is off.
@@tobinhager8386 The Dexcom cost to much even with insurance
Nice 👍
Thank you!
I like the good info
Thank you!
thx
Thank you! :)
It does not hurt
Agreed!!
Thank you so much. No m
You're very welcome!
I hate needles too 😬
I hear you!!
dont waste your money. get a dexcom. my readings with the libre were never close to my blood glucose. had a scan of 98 and immediately took a glucose wich was 307 save your life and just go with the dexcom
I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad time with the Libre. I know the results really vary from person to person. I'm glad to hear you've found the Dexcom to be so good though - I've also switched to the Dexcom since using it!
Darn it. I saw the needle. Strength.. courage... gone!
Truly truly truly you can't feel it - but I totally hear you friend!!!
Needle is so tiny that a mosquito bite is more noticeable. I went with a CGM device because finger sticks for mw are out of the question.
@@0restes U know, after 3 weeks from posting.. I still have not done it! I'm just going to do it today. will summon all the spirits of my ancestors and pop it in..roar
What happens to the needle When you’ve move the disk ?

Do you shower with this on?
Yes!
I wish I was that sensor.
this is such a bad disorder
Diabetes? Yes, it’s rough, but it can be dealt with and you can live a very excellent life with it so I can my complain too much, but I hear you!
@@ShesDiabetic yeah, ive type 2 since 2015. havent had any complications as of now. im taking metformin and dapagliflozin. a1c is around 7.0
Libre sucks....it's a toy
For many people it's either the Libre, or no CGM/FGM at all. And then, I'd much rather have the libre.
