I purchased my first Alijoz last winter to replace my Avet reels. Love it so much after 2 trips I purchased 2 more now have 2x 8.1 and a 5.9 all with power handle. I use the high speed reels more often and they both have caught over 1000 fish with my main close to 2000. The cranking power is so incredible that big tautog and other strong fish have no chance at all. They also cast very well when chasing albies and fish blitz. Trolling is also a breeze, one hand operation on a kayak is a major plus. I also using these on deep drop charter boat fishing in 400' and 12oz jigs. Great work horses for the price. So far they're still smooth and time will tell how long they'll last. For me if these reels last 2 years with all the fishing I do then it's money well spent.

@@PaulyV56 Both 5.9 and 8.1 will be great but I recommend 8.1 with a single/power handle for all species. The main reason is you can always slow down but not speed up. It has so much torque that I have to remind myself once in a while to slow down the retrieve. LOL 25# braid with 5' 30# fluorocarbon is my typical setup.

@@BigDirtDawg they’re still holding up well after 2 seasons. My 8.1 reels get majority of workouts on the weekly basis when fishable. The key is to spray them down with freshwater once off the water. My original intention for these reels is 2 years and I’m now on overtime with these. To me they’re worth every penny.

Been fishing with the Lexa 300 and 400HD for just over 5 years. They are sexy beasts on salmon, yellowtail and tuna. I just purchased 2 Picifun Captain spinning reels - 3000 and 5000, and one of the Alijoz 300 8:1 reels - for upcoming WA salmon. Also sent a Captain 5000 and Captain 8000 to my son in South Texas - for jacks, kings, reds and black drum off the jetties. These spinners are sooo smooth. Looking forward to using the Alijoz. If it's anything like the Lexa 300, it will be the best value out there. Tight lines!

I love my Alijoz. I had thought about getting one and one of your older vids helped me choose. That and the fact that a Lexa costs a lot more. I got the 8.1, but with the normal handle since the power handle wasnt in stock at whatever Amazon storefront was available to me at the time. I totally don't recommend an 8.1 without the powerhandle, and it becomes a lot of work to jig deep with despite it's speed. I think with depth Hunter line and the powerhandle it would be a jigging machine. If it had a clicker it would be so so versatile since then I could easily troll with it as well. Turn the clicker on, freespool, clip it to my downrigger and send it down in a pinch

Moo hi I have this reel as well in size 300. This Friday went out (I’m in Israel) connected the reel to my Kali Kuman Myeth new jigging rod. Caught a nice 8-9kg black tuna that gave me a decent fight but the reel got stuck. This means the handle moves but the spool doesn’t. The drag was pretty much tight all the way since the fish smoked it. Any idea? Got really disappointed with this quality and performance. Again maybe this reel is completely not for this type of fishing but would like to know your opinion and if this issue is known to you.

I have a lot of reels with power handles. I don't think I'd buy one without and unfortunately usually the 200 size reels do not have such an option. I think the Alijoz is a fine reel for the kind of fishing that we do here and the price is definitely right. I know internally some of these reels are not built optimally with the manufacturers opting for plastic parts but if it lasts a while, then perhaps it's all worth it. Personally, I like to get something that will last a long time that is serviceable. I have my eyes on the Seigler SG but given those are east coast reels, it's hard to find one that I can try out before buying.

@@MooMooOutdoors Yep. I have. I have a few Avets and Accurates as well. Mostly larger 2 speed reels though for Bluefin and the like. The Accurates I have are the older ones; the Boss ones with the platinum twin drags, but they are a bit heavier. The Siegler SG is a small reel holding 450 yards of 50lb braid, capable of 30lb drag and is only 12.2oz. I think I'd like to get an Accurate but they typically go north of 400 which is a bit too high for me for an Accurate.

Have you ever opened it up? The quality is not comparable and just shows that most of us over pay for quality that we dont need. Piscifun uses soft brass main gear and pinion gear with plastic components for spool release mechanism. Lexa uses stainless steel gears, encased bearings (unlike closed bearings), Piscifun uses more bushings to support the less quality parts. I'm not knocking Piscifun, they are good reels, and just proves you dont need the quality that some of these well known brands sell.

Has anyone tried ordering parts from Piscifun?

Nice review. To put it in perspective, it costs more to fill up my car than the price difference between these 2 reels. Get what you like!

Thanks. Yes, especially with high prices now. I used get 4 trips with $100 with my little car but now I don't even get 3 trips.

Piscifun does NOT sell spare parts for these reels. Very strange way to do business.
