- I managed to rope my wife into her first MRE, and what a treat it was.
We tried the Lithuanian military MRE and the main meal was Beans and Meat! sounds lovely : )

yeah, I like trying them, even the bad ones. and it was fun video to make. I did stitch Carly up a bit though.. I had a feeling this one was going to be below average : )

Hey! Just catching up on my TH-cams. I'd be curious to try more rat pack meals. I like the British army ones, they've never let me know and taste quite good. Thanks for the review, its very helpful. Have to admit, it did remind me of catfood! xx
try an American one if you going to try something different.. they are pretty good!

yeah it was a bit average. the main was good once you got past the smell. but the rest was pretty ropey. : )

I genuinely enjoy trying these.. even the bad ones. and I had an inkling this one would not win any prizes.. Carly's first MRE, start her off at the low end, it'll make the others better : )

You two are so funny together. Good job on the video. Maybe the raisins were meant to help soak up some of the liquid in the rice pudding.
its possible I did the rice a disservice as I couldn't read the numbers on my cup to measure it. came out without glasses! but it was still not the best.
Haha great vid! There is an army tradition of the "racing spoon"...a metal spoon that the lads would use to sample every scoff in the troop

it was sold as Lithuanian... but you are not the first to spot that.. I'll see if I can pick up a real one.
I can see comments about the source of the MRE so I banged a load of the package contents list into Google Translate and they are coming up as the Latvian language.

Yep, it definitely looked like jimmy & tink’s dinner when it was cold🫢‼️. Soreen, the good old malted fruit bread…..that my wife used to insist on buttering 😜. Pumpernickel bread looks plausible as a foodstuff but it’s always best kept for repairing your boot or using as individual roofing shingles for your shelter. Were you up Frensham / Hindhead for this one? There was heaps of planes overhead. Some good honest humour 😂😋👍
We were in East Worldham, parked at the church and walked towards Alton. scouting for overnight spots and picking up Geocaches. We were out for a good while so needed a tasty meal ; )
@@CampLifeBushcraft ah, down towards the hop fields. Some good metal detectoring round there but that’d take up too much valuable hiking & camping time for you 😎👍. Lovely part of the world though, especially with the summer weather 😎🍻👍
@@billyaitken7461 we went up into the earth works woodland on top of a hill for a mooch then out to Alton and back. A nice walk. I like the area, not much camping to be had though.

This is what I'm trying to tell you it is not food anything comes in a package and taste good it doesn't mean it's food try to educate yourself about what's in your gut if you knew you wouldn't call this food.

Your meant to put the tin of food in a mess tin of water and boil the water open the tin a little. I’m a former marine and had the ration packs with tinned foods at times.
that makes sense.. but not having a mess tin with me it was a case of adapt and overcome. and it was fine really. the main was decent.. just the sundries were poor. but I like tasting these types of things, even the bad ones.

Ham and lima beans? That used to be a meal in US C-rations back during the Vietnam era. I never had one, but I hear they were very unpopular.
it tasted ok.. but the smell was terrible!
