BMW Repair of the engine hood hinges jumped after activating the pedestrian protection.

Following a slight traffic jam or hitting a dog or anything else, pedestrian protection is activated. In order to be able to continue the journey, you can temporarily put the hinges back on and then go to a service where you can replace the affected elements.

What i did on mine was, release a little the screws (on one side its an opposite thread) and get a person to lift the bonnet from the usual place you open the bonnet up until the bolts slide in the correct place, align the teeth washers and then just screw the bolts. No need for the bonnet to be removed.
Then you're left with an operational bonnet but an airbag warning light in the dash.
Pyrotechnic actuators need to be changed in order for the light to go away.

I have a airbag warning light for my rear right pyrotechnic but it hasn’t activated to lift the bonnet, do you think I just need to replace it?

The system is based on an eccentric which, once returned to its original position, holds the hood hinge firmly
