I don't know. I'm NOT a musician, but no matter what he plays you know you're hearing the best version of it. I'm not as happy with his acoustic songs but apparently a lot of people do so I just prefer to go to his non-acoustic shows. But his playing is stunning.
While Joe's playing is always spectacular, I am always impressed by what a great guy he is. I got the chance to meet him in Portland Oregon around when the Black Rock album came out. I just went to the theater early and brought my Strat and Joe was kind enough to sign it. He sat on a crate and was playing it, then he jumped up and said " You let me play your guitar, Let me get one of mine". He came out with this dual neck Music Man and handed it to me....... One of the best days of my life :)
What he is playing is super impressive. The fact he is doing it on an acoustic instead of an electric is even more so. We need guys like Joe to inspire and influence new talent and keep the blues out there. He is a true gent.
+RUSH MANIA as a novice guitar player~his tone is so good that it is more than amazing! Watching this always blows my mind~I can't believe I was so lucky to have been there and filmed it~and I missed part of it because I had to change batteries!
+Stephen Ross My Brother's a drummer and one day got a call from Joe asking if he wanted to play with him. My brother said yes and they set up a time to rehearse and Joe never showed up. Curious.
Joe is my absolute favorite blues-rock performer, his voice also gives a particular uniqueness to the beautiful songs. - Joe's old friend B.B. King nailed it when he said of the then 12-year old; Joe is - ’One of a Kind!’ 🎸⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Long ago I saw Simon and Garfunkel play, one little stool between them, in front of thousands and I was spellbound. 2 people, playing from their hearts. Joe is new to me, and these past months I've watched what I could find of him by him. Just love this man, his versatility, he can sing too. Makes me sound a bit off maybe, but I cried watching at one point, Like watching creation-one the seventh day, he rested, and he let Joe play. I have never written to or commented on an Artists site or whatever. Somehow, here, i need to say these things. Thank you for being this dynamite point of light in this dark and getting darker period in History, so like the early 70's.
This is why I say Joe is the best in the business. He blows my socks off acoustically and electricaly. Chops, oh yea, he's got em. Love ya Joe. I will follow you through endless projects of discovery in Guitar and go where no man has gone before. Onward.
I saw joe bonamassa in a small dive with 100 people 10 yrs ago in NH and I thought the place was going to fall down. He is the best blues since Stevie Ray Vaughn. My Lord
+frank maffa, Interesting comment. I saw SRV in the basement of a convention center for $3 early in his career. I'd never heard of him but went because it was cheap. I was 6 feet from Stevie. It was literally a two-hour long jaw-dropping moment. I drove two hours to see Joe and, although there were some good parts during the concert, it was a huge disappointment and a waste of a couple hundred dollars. How many people who rave about Joe have a few of his records? His songs are 12- bar and 8-bar blues but mostly sound the very similar. There are only a couple songs that stand out from the others. Honestly, if I only judged music by TH-cam videos, I'd love Joe. But I invest more in music than watching free internet videos.
+frank maffa, However, Joe's acoustic skills are very special - nothing less than outstanding. My above review is critical based on the concerts I attended and the Bonamassa albums I bought. Joe Bonamassa isn't even close to SRV.
Three times I've seen Joe. Three times he's done 'Woke up dreaming'. Let's hope he does it again on the 7th of march 2014. He is a master of both acoustic and electric. Outstanding artist.
Saw him at the Fox in St Louis. One comment that hasn't been made is that he is gracious. He is capable of unleashing a 2 hour assault of playing that could melt your face off but he holds back enough to allow for the mortal ears of the audience to enjoy without being overwhelmed. Thank you for showing some mercy, Joe.
If there is a better singer-songwriting-kissass-guitar-playing-badass better than Joe please point me in that direction.... Because I know of none. Bonamassa is the Godfather of Guitar.
+Brayden Jones, Eric Clapton is one example of somebody who is far better. Jimmy Page (though he doesn't sing) is head and shoulders above as an original guitarist, writer, producer, and virtuoso. Of course, then there is Joe Walsh, with fewer solo albums than Joe but more contribution with original tones and unique songs (not a one trick pony). When on stage together, Derek Trucks steals the show every time. But with the artists mentioned, I'm mainly referring to electric guitar. Joe is quite amazing on the acoustic.
This so fantastic its from audience view not the quiet recorded version. I saw him last year and he responded to us like this, we weren't quiet when it was appropriate, like this crowd very mindful of when to be quiet. But the more we egged him on the more would play. This this shows how much he interacts with the fans. My son and i buzzed for hours from the dopamine that his shows elicits from taking us into a magical world for 2 hours. He played this as the encore or last song of the night. He is a monster, stalks the crowd with guitar. I hope makes music many more years! Thank you SOOOOO much for this.❤
Wow, I have been happily playing along on several of Joe's songs and then this one comes on and I'm sitting it out! Joe has some unusually good talent and is very clean and precise in every note.
Joe IS as guitar. In this life. THAT is the real explanation. He just happens to be a very handsome, considerate guitar. Really, Joe is so talented that I don't even like to compare him to any other artist. He is in a class all his own. He is awesome. Can't wait to see him in concert later this month!!
Saw Joe last night. The best concert I’ve ever been to and Joe & band were on point. It’s a great experience. I can die now. I’ve seen my guitar hero. A moment of humor when he’s talking to the crowd. He thought PA is a beautiful state but "when are they going to pave the fucking roads". He dug into PennDot pretty good.
What a great share. I wonder, if there's anything with a string attached to it, Joe Bee, can't make something of. I like, he's modest as well - very sympatic. Greets from Denmark - keep it bluesy :-)
2 me he's the BEST GUITARIST of this Century-so far dat is, cant imagine what him and Stevie Ray would have done together. You ROCK THE WORLD JOE ! ! !
He kills this song .....kills it ....this is him at his limit I think and it's off the meter ......try this on an electric let alone an acoustic ....he destroys it ....fantastic display of chops , technique, tone , and dynamics .....this is utter command of the instrument period
We need to say positive things, always. Mr. Bonamassas' gift, is for all to appreciate. I have said he should play fewer notes. To be even greater. Comparing artists, musicians, or lovers in bed, is to miss the point , that , within our fairly difficult human lives...there are few enough extraordinary moments, that each one ought to be treated, as the last. JSC.
AMAZING performance, especially considering done after 2 hours of a wonderful concert. I can only hope I live long enough to play anywhere near the same atmosphere that he's in.
Nice job Joe what Legend of the blues my mentor, wonder the acoustic is is playing? Could be a Alvarez. Man never going get any sleep sitting here playing with Joe my fingers are bleeding sore.... Nothing like that feel! Love it Joe you Inspire even an ole fart like me : )
This sounds much better on his Yairi than that Yamaha though, thank God he played it on that or I would have thought this song was crap based on my first impression....You, Mr. Bonamassa owe Mr. Yairi a Thank You letter.
dgj70094 Wow, you must be an angry little man that has had their opinions crushed since they were a child, and now feel the need to give their negative view, while denouncing another persons at the same time. You are yet another amazing living contradiction to be found on TH-cam. I am so proud of you now, big boy.
this guy is utterly insane. sometimes he inspires me to practice my chops, other times he just makes me wanna quit altogether!
xchump I can relate.
xchump Ha ha, xchump, Johnny Winter made me feel exactly the same in the 1970es - and now, Joe Bee, takes blues to a new level.
xchump We can all relate to that!
know exactly how you feel.
I don't know. I'm NOT a musician, but no matter what he plays you know you're hearing the best version of it. I'm not as happy with his acoustic songs but apparently a lot of people do so I just prefer to go to his non-acoustic shows. But his playing is stunning.
Jesus and Joe can save this world!!! 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽

Check out Justin Johnson on TH-cam
Awesome Joe !! WOW that was GREAT !!! 🎸🎤❤✌🌹
I'm a drummer, but his tone is so pure, beautiful and powerful, I don't even miss a rhythm section! I can listen to this genius all day!
+RUSH MANIA as a novice guitar player~his tone is so good that it is more than amazing! Watching this always blows my mind~I can't believe I was so lucky to have been there and filmed it~and I missed part of it because I had to change batteries!

Never heard this on electric guitar. Only acoustic. Amazing. This guy joey B.
Just how good is this guy. Insane. Anyone out there fancy a go at this 😅😅😅
I'm watching a guitar genius. Seen him two times...love "what" he plays and "how" he playes the blues.
This is the most incredible thing I've ever seen/heard - and I've been playing for 51 years. No words...
I know what you mean! :)
My senses leave my body with chills and tingles everytime I hear him play this song it’s like medicine for my soul
JOE IS A BADASS OF THE LOYAL KIND!!!!! ❤

No arenas can compare to listen to good live music in a dive.
you got it bro

Is there anything Joe can't do? Stupendous skills. Very few can go where Joe goes! Wish I was there.
Three times I've seen Joe. Three times he's done 'Woke up dreaming'. Let's hope he does it again on the 7th of march 2014. He is a master of both acoustic and electric. Outstanding artist.
BEST GUITARIST, EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every CD is better than the previous..........today's very best!!!

Richie Kotzen?

On another planet.!...Great Stuff.
That's like supernatural, psycho kinetic sort of mind over matter stuff. Can't believe I just heard and saw that. Incredible.
Malmsteen is great at what he does, and he's payed his dues a lot more than Bonamassa has.
Best in the world
This is it,this is why,I love Joe ......Muah !!!!! ,
Amazing!!
He and Hendrix are equal guitar super heroes, just at the opposite ends of the spectrum
