I enjoyed his music from when I heard him first, but since that concert I have lost respect for him!
Gearóid MacTiernan, I’m assuming you mean that Bonamassa should have paid tribute by playing a tune or two of each Rory Gallagher and Gary Moore. Maybe Joe had a prescribed concert program that he and the band were prepared to play and wanted to stick to that. I’m sure they always want to give their best rehearsed effort. A few years ago, just a couple of weeks before this performance he was playing in Glasgow. I duly bought my ticket, and knowing the venue (O2 Academy) thought I'd get along early, most nearby bars were pretty full and the queue at the door was... well, it resulted in a sigh. So, I turned around and walked round the corner to find a quieter pub for a pint or two before the gig. The pub was a dark back street of Glasgow affair, where you normally get a few looks from the locals as yo walk in to see if you're going to be a problem. Pint in hand, listening to the random music on the radio and I cautiously glance round the bar (it is Glasgow, so caution is always a good opening gambit). I message my pals to tell them where to meet and spot a couple of blokes at a table, half turned away, but the profile was enough. I asked the barmaid for a pen, and gig ticket in hand respectfully apologised for interrupting his drink and asked if the gentleman at the would mind signing my gig ticket. He smiled, and said ''not a problem, I hope yo enjoy the show'', my reply, ''thank you, I know I will, it's not the first time''. A laugh from JB and a thank you from me and I left him in peace with his pal to enjoy his pre-gig beer. Went back to the bar, and handed the barmaid her pen, ''who's that?'', she asks, I look at her and reply, ''god''. My thoughts at the time, and still to this day were what an open, humble, respectful and genuine bloke he was/is. I still have the ticket, framed on the wall beside my guitars.
So totally understand! What a cool experience. Shortly after my husband very suddenly died, we went to a concert to see JB. Joe invited me and my 2 young sons backstage before his concert. He talked humbly and gently to my boys and signed my son's guitar. Total class act!

Off the freaking hook! He has such technical skill and he leverages that as he's playing his various genres of blues. Bending strings with soulful vibrato and timing is normally associated with the blues. But Joe has a passion and style all his own. I think it's best if we compare his current work to his past rather than to other blues players. Regardless of how people try to pigeon-hole the interpretation of the blues, there is room for a unique progressive fusion blues-rock artist. Was holt er denn da für Töne aus der Gitarre raus, WAHNSINN !!!!!! Er füllt den Raum mit seinem Gitarrenspiel und seiner Stimme. Mehr brauchts nicht !!!
I have been telling everyone that Joe is the best blues guitarist of our era...after seeing this I have changed that to the best guitarist period! Everytime I start to think I am getting his licks down ....he blows my mind some more....my fingers hurt
Amazing 🤩 goosebumps all the way through. Just out of this world good. One man and his guitar. How many artists can go this? What a talent this man is.
I've been playing the guitar everyday since I started 10 years ago and he's so good that it's desmotivating for me. Imposible to get even close to this.
Joe has amazing skills, but keep in mind that he considers it a personal responsibility to keep blues music, especially the Chicago and Delta blues, alive and pertinent for future generations. That's a pretty selfless attitude that doesn't automatically translate well to the audience. Listen to him talk about blues playing, especially his early influences, and you will see plenty of soul...
you obviously know nothing about Joe Bonamassa. You're one of those guys that runs around saying shit like "Clapton's better than Page, man... I suggest you study Joe's history, his love of the blues craft, and the opinions and respect other guitar players have for him before you go spouting your ignorant blather...
No you idiot, I'm one that goes around saying Muddy Waters is way better than JB, & for all you Rock fans who go around using the term 'Blues' to describe the Rock blues you listen to. I'm a grown man who's been playing music for twenty years and I'm talking about this guy's wanky wanky approach to the guitar & his absolute lack of taste that his fans don't get. No self-respecting true acoustic guitar player would play the wanky, musicalless crap he started the video with ... & that acoustic sound! Absolutely plastic & cheap. Get a mic on that & play it right. It seems JB studied the Blues, apparently, so he could throw the word around & gain legitimacy even while playing no actual Blues music or really tasteless, forced & over-aggressive Rock guitar for Rock guitar worship fans. I won't comment on his weak voice. He overplays to hide so many deficiencies.
I love how there are comments hating on him but name your favorite guitarist and they will always fall short because of the hard work and talent this man has on a guitar and bet your favorite guitarist would probably say Fuck No to try to best Joe Bonamassa. Now I say Good Day Sir
Ha ha I love haters, they're the ones who cant play two notes themselves. Jealousy sucks. They always rap on about this one being better than that one but really, who cares?
SGTGammahooch Ask Satriani to take on Joe acoustically he'd falter against Bonamassa. Electric and you have a good fight which I would back Satriani with his technicaility.

Truly a professional. He has his own sound like no one else. The great guitarists never are the best singers but their singing is not why we're captivated. Definitely top 5.
He continues to take guitar playing to a whole new level. Never tire of watching his work.
I saw him open for B.B. King here in the California desert. He looked like the young Ozzy then. But played his guitar like he was sent from heaven.
I’ve seen Joe live 13 times, and have heard this song hundreds of times, and still get goosebumps whenever I hear it. This is the best version.
I haven't heard from anyone playing like Joe plays in years. Can't wait to see him play when he comes to The Palace Theater.
One man. One acoustic guitar. One historic theater mesmerized. Who does that?
Joe does that.. he is above and beyond anyone .. this is something incredible we are hearing and seeing here
Smokin' Joe
Not taking anything away from Joe, but noel galagher has mesmerized this same hall
The best Joe Bonamassa's interpretation of Woke Up Dreaming!!!
Started playing his music with my last band in the joint, Gyre Blues Band. His music kept us on our toes and time flew bye. This dude's got mad mad chops thick with feeling. He plays on the road 200 days a year. And I can't wait to finally see 'em.
Never seen anyone master their craft as gracefully. Phenomenal
Oh 6 minutes in... he’s not done blowing my mind. Thanks Joe
Joe is Wreckin it!!!
Oh Hell Yeah!!
JB is now a GOAT. Absolute superstatus. No ropes, he climbed up the ladder all by himself.
This is so incredibly BEAUTIFUL, so amazing!!! 😯😶👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Absolutely stunning
he blows me AWAY, intoxicating..
As someone who tried to play guitar, and failed Joe Bonamassa amazes me, and has done so since he was seven years old.
I have no words to describe how good this is... just watching.. listening.. over and over again.. and yes, enjoying this incredible real music :)
Phenomenal man ... talent in everything he does, order in passion. He has 11/11 in his name for Pete’s sake, divine 👌
Absolutely amazing. JB is one of the best and one of my guitar hero's for sure...
Just showing off. Incredible!
He is magic with his guitar, the very best!
MAN...Joe-you NEVER disappoint! I AM the Loyal Kind!!
I met Joe on pbs, I was amazed by the fact I'd never heard of him, good thing I was cruising the dial
me too, still to this day my friends have no clue who he is.
Joe ploughs his own furrow, no slave to the "corporates"
@@g8ymw I love Joe, but he is as corporate as anyone
This isn't good. This is legendary 💪its amazing how far you can go with passive instrument
Some people say he doesn't play with enough feeling or soul; I think I see a huge puddle of it poured out all over the stage...
I kinda agree with Some People. there's more to music than mechanics. Clapton has Skill and still manages to rend your heart senseless.
He's NOT keeping any kind of BLUES alive pal. This is wanky, rootless 'Rock' music.
This sounds NOTHING like BLUES music.
you obviously know nothing about Joe Bonamassa.
Awesome, beutiful, magic. Simply magic., Thanks Joe.
For me it's never a competition.. it's some great music.. played by great musicians.. this silly world wants to rank everything.. who is the bestest.. he was better than him.. wtf ???? Enjoy the music and performance.. I know I do :)
He played this at Christchuch Town Hall concert Sept 19. Was there. Was EPIC. A true entertainer. Thanks Joe. One of the best nights of my life.
I get goose bumps watching and listening to him play. Awesome!

Alors là... il y a du lourd !!!
no kidding..Joe IS the man!
+Rick Cosmo still still
I have been privileged to see many great guitar players - Hendrix, Clapton, Beck, Paige, Santana, BB King -- JB is right there with them - can't wait to see him again this summer at Red Rocks
I watch his hands and often times seems that guitars sound cant keep up with the speed of his fingers. Best guitar player in the world. Probably best guitar player ever...
He is the best ever, no one can touch him
SRV would like a word.
Love ❤️ You, Joe 🙏🏼😎🎸 This is Stellar ⭐️
That is because we in the UK like to hear a performer perform without all the hooping and hollering that we expect from US audiences, how can you enjoy the artists performance with all that racket going on? We reserve our applause for after the artist finishes..
john smith well said. I agree and I’m an American
Absolute Titan. No one can touch JB... Unmatched talent..
Sensationell Bravo meine Hochachtung ich liebe es!! Gänsehaut 👍👍👍
