It’s tough to be a prodigy. Joe couldn’t help the fact that he was literally still a kid. He also happened to already be a seasoned guitar virtuoso, who would go on to conquer the guitar world. He is one of my all time favorites. Love the Bloodline album too.
He is definitely an amazing guitar player. Having 26 #1 Billboard Blues albums is quite an astonishing feat! He's also a very nice and humble guy. My wife and I got to meet him back stage for a meet and greet. He signed both of our guitars and spent some time conversing with us.
@@Thatguygreedoyou make it sound like it's a big deal. Havingve a number 1 blues album is like 10 thousand albums sold nowadays! Lol you dnt know shit about the music industry
Wow! Absolutely amazing. These kids didn't get enough credit for being so accomplished on their own. Fantastic band and only heard of them today. So much great music that doesn't get airplay.
That Joe Bonamassa is sickeningly talented. To have those sort of chops at such a young age would have been AWESOME!!! He was always gonna go places. What ever happened to Berry Oakley Jnr, great singing in that clip, I never even knew he existed. If he's still out there I'd love to hear more of his stuff.
Ok in 1993 or 94 I went to see lynyrd Skynyrd in Richmond VA. Got there late and the opening band was coming on. There was this chubby kid playing a red strat who was awesome. I knew Robbie Kreiger son was the rhythm guitar player. The band walked off and Joe stayed on and wow. Found out years later it was Joe Bonamossa. We got tickets last minute from a scalper at the gate. Saw Skynyrd front row. Garry Rossington was my hero and I could see the strings move on his les paul!
How we can listen to the group Joe has still been the same, with the same level of guitar mastery, from the then to today ... Who is the voice, so amazing blues, with briliant feeling? Super performance, super Joe!
What an amazingly talented band they were!!! The band was formed around Joe as he couldn't get a solo record deal (idea of the manager), some say they kicked him due to his nerdy look, other say due to Joe always wanting a solo in every song, either way these guys were great and it's a shame them didn't continue for longer!
Bloodlines kicked Joe to the curb because they thought he could only play guitar and their manager asked them if they really wanted to do that because when you take the engine out of a Ferrari it is not a Ferrari anymore…! Prophetic! Master of Ferrari’s, Sir Bonamassa, has broken the sound barrier!!!!
First of all. Those hosts were so rude and completely obtuse... Really vest...? You are gonna dis an 18 guitar prodigy and his talented, legendary band. Typical mainstream media, you could hear the jealousy in their stupid voices. As for the music. Hell yeah that sounds as good today in 2015 as it did 20 years ago in 95
They were so good in this video. It's a shame they kinda fell apart after pushing Joe out. But Joe's talent would have come out like it has if only because he's about the most talented blues guitarist to walk the earth. Talent like Joes's, Gary Moore's, BB King, Albert King, Dereck Truk, Eric Clapton cannot be kept down. It always rises to the top.
"What was your growing up time like?" Both of these announcers are annoying. They didn't do much research on these guys. Good song. The singer has an Allman Brother's vibe.
Only Joe went on to make a dent, and in fact reinvented the 'music business' for himself. Do any of these other guys have records out? I know the guy singing here played on a Marc Ford record, but even he is not very well known.
The weird thing is that Joe's mixed quiet for his leads, but higher for his rhythm riffs. Maybe a good explanation _is_ an insecure technician (or host) - they certainly seemed quietly riled at this mild kid with a nickname/skills cooler than anything they'd ever achieved.
c0ldrink Saw a short video of a producer friend of Joe, and the producer said Joe was really let go cause Joe was and is looked at, as a nerdy type. The gall of kids. Smoking Joe was able to get over that. He Triumphed.
I actually saw these guys open in 95' for Tesla and Lynryd Skynryd......didn't make the connection until just now when they mentioned Wayne Krieger. They were pretty forgettable considering who they were opening for, lol.
Wish they had 'stuck it out' a bit longer. A lot of interesting 'bloodlines' and influences came together for some interesting and rockin' music, I thought. Really liked them. Would've liked to see them progress more, individually and as a band. I thought JB was a good fit, even if the rest did not (if that's true).
+Ninjabread If you watch the documentary "How one man beat the record industry" you'll know what i'm talking about. The other three members of the band approached their manager to tell him they wanted him to replace Joe because he wasn't cool enough. The manager, Roy Weisman, told them they were making a big mistake. Joe left the band and Roy Weisman went with him.
Probably the best thing to happen for Joe! He was destined to go straight to the top! He didn't need them, they needed him. I just love him. Such a sweetheart and so disciplined and talented.. God bless him!
But cream always floats to the top and just look at where he is now. Only arguably the best blues guitarist EVER!! I mean, come on!! Joe started playing at age 4!!!! His talent is like a gift straight from God himself. And I'm gonna see the man in 2018. Already got some tickets & great seats. I CAN'T WAIT..........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
peterstrohm ahhh, Joe was probably from a lot different cultural upbringing than the rest of the guys. I don't recall seeing any of the other guys turning up anywhere that I recall.
George Jetson Right? It's obvious why they fired him. Just watching this performance you could tell, those guys might have had the lineage, but Joe had all the talent. Jealousy, pure and simple.
I really like Joe and I love his playing sound and style but that fool of a host summed up Joe's biggest problem @0:20. Joe has worked hard at getting rid of the baby face by slimming down but one of the hardest obstacles to cross is breaking that "middle class, white suburbanite kid" image. Which make up about 85-90% of the guitar playing crowd.
He didn't really get slim until Albert Hall, and while I think he looks better I doubt it was really hurting his career when he was a few kilo heavier. He comes out in sunglasses and suits these days, looking middle-class and white as all hell :)
Neil St Neil Neil, chill, relax, why would saying white Joe, sounds as racism... If a black kid is walkind down the street, in white sub minding his own bees wax, what would a white cop do, or the stay at home white lady suspect, or the neighborhood watch team , made up of white old farts do. Seems to me you were offended cause some one said white, did it touch a button inside you, relax, chill I see no offence. Or maybe we can say white, no offence, and move on...gees are we a we bit touchy. Peace.
Bonamassa became a star right here. Outstanding.
It’s tough to be a prodigy. Joe couldn’t help the fact that he was literally still a kid. He also happened to already be a seasoned guitar virtuoso, who would go on to conquer the guitar world. He is one of my all time favorites. Love the Bloodline album too.

wow! Great voice on Berry Oakley Jr......
Totally. This is great. Also makes me wonder how Joe's career would have gone as a guitarist in a great band rather than as a solo act.
Yes, excellent!
Yea,!this band was amazing, Joe is awesome on that guitar. Great great band .!!!❤😊
O hell that was a bad ass piece of music history!!
How we can listen to the group Joe has still been the same, with the same level of guitar mastery, from the then to today ... Who is the voice, so amazing blues, with briliant feeling? Super performance, super Joe!
even at 18 he was rocking it! awesome Joe :)

Thank you for sharing this gem. WOW!!! Music makes the world a better place. Again, WOW!!!
"How did that feel that your dad passed since you weren't born." Great, love that.
I know great opening question from the idiots eh 👍
Im one of Big Fans of Joe Bosamassa..Jakarta Love This
What a voice on that kid. I'm surprised Greg never gave him a job.
Amen

Huh? Aren't guitar players supposed to play guitar?
How'd that work out for them 😂
I can feel the similarities in this music to current Joe. Great story!
Amazing to see guys collaborate and see how passion came about!!
He is such an awesome Geek!!
Great tune. Like to see Joe do this song today on electric guitars and full band.
The album version is actually electric
he started playing guitar with 4! 4! with 4, i was still pissing in my pants.
Damn..that is a great song and performance. no doubt!
Wow. Bonamassa playing an acoustic guitar.
I’ve seen Joe live 3 times now. He has played acoustic at each show I have been to.
THE TV GUY TALKING TO THEM WAS A DORK.GREAT TALENT WITH SMOKIN JOE AND HIS BAND
How did you get the nickname Smokin' Joe? "Well what happened was, I've been an absolute legend since I was 11 years old"
Love it . Awesome
wow he talks the same way since 18 xDDD. What a man!
& TODAY YOU turned 41 two weeks ago...STILLLLL SMOKIN !!!!!!!!
The boys sounded great, didn't even know about that band. Little Ark Angels feel as well

sin duda alguna por fue formado por legendas del rock and blues, por eso hoy es el mejor representante del rock

Interesting! Robbie Krieger of The Doors has always been one of my favorite guitarists. Never knew anything about a son of his.
Very amazin'
Thanks a lot
Great stuff !!!!
Jo bo with the bowl cut! Jesssusss hello yeaa
This actually some pretty good stuff. I know Joe is still rolling, where are the rest of rhe boys?
I was wondering that too.
Berry Oakley Jr is in The Allman Betts band. With Greg Allmans son (Devon) and Dicky Betts son (Duane).
I saw Robbie Krieger a few years back and his son was lead vocalist ( doors tunes) I’m guessing it was him ????
Amazing!
this guys voice is amazing..he isn't singing now?
He fucked up his career forever when he got rid of Joe because he "wasn't cool enough"
He still performs on his own
Yeah, he still plays on his own, but no one but his die-hard fans know it, while Joe is playing all over the planet.
