Thanks for the video. What a great idea. You are so right about trying to download repeaters while travelling. This would be a great addition to the quiver for an over the road truck driving ham.
I would have like to have had it when I was traveling recently. Being able to program a code plug on the go is a grest capability to have in your arsenal.
I noticed that it will let you program repeaters. However, I also had some frequencies programmed via CHIRP, and I was able to edit those, and then save them back to the radio.
@@PartisanCommsGroup on my UV5R there are some frequencies I program that doesn't require ctcss, so when I use the tidradio programmer, if I select ctcss off, once I write the data to the radio, the ctcss isn't off as shown on radio, instead it shows a ctcss of 554.0 which isnt even a usable ctcss code. It's really weird.

After the initial setup, does it work without cell service?
From what I read on a couple forums, it should still work since it's using a Bluetooth connection between the dongle and phone.
I cant program in recieve only channels. 😕 It's repeater only channels.

Great video. Yes you can do an amateur repeater search however, the programmer does not allow for GMRS repeater serchs
