Alan this is fabulous up here and I loved where you pitched the tent with the lake there. Beautiful sunset and great food and the best night sleep ever ! So good Shame about the clag at the end but that was stunning . I can't leave another like but I'll leave this 👏😃~ Anna
Perfect weather and a great place to pitch - what a view! Yes, I have had worse Monday nights t be honest and to get there in 25 minutes, you would be mad not too. When you do Pillar make sure you do not do it from Ennerdale, took us almost 5 miles walking from the car park just to get to the base of Pillar so before any climbing lol. It's a slog up Skiddaw mind but the way I came down (3 years ago almost) through the valley would be the way I go up next time, so much better. I will watching finish later, just being attacked by a 3 year old..
Cheers Al, i thought of your pillar video whilst up there lol, I can’t think of a nice way of getting my gear up any of the 4 summits i mentioned … probably why I still haven’t camped there, hope the grandson did t beat you up to much mate 😂😂
Cheers Alan - Soulo life is the good life for sure and it is a pretty area where you are hiking and camping. I am feeling quite jealous and would love to be out there. The Soulo is easy to pitch as you say, but it is not a tent that is shining on lovely days as it is "heavy" and not big inside. But when the wind howls it is another matter! And you are an impressive wilderness chef and you are right - cuisine does not have to be simple when you are on short trips into the wild! Yeah you’re right there ant. I’m still searching for my perfect summer tent, thought I found one and then it weighed in at the same as the soulo, I think the problem is is want space and the weight to be low,have I just can’t have both 🤷♂️
@@54DegreesNorth It is the safety factor that matters. I remember speaking to a couple who had their expensive low-weight tent ruined by wind on their first night in the wild. So if wind is an issue then it is damned hard to find the perfect tent. Maybe go up a little in weight and buy a bigger Hilleberg:-)
mate everything has gone up in price, its a joke, the meal was my best yet I proper enjoyed, in fact im really enjoying the cooking to be honest, cheers for dropping in and giving us a check out - Alan

oh nooo... theres nothing worse than losing all that hard work, I feel bad for you, I went to balmoral castle in scotland which was the queens royal residence up there, any way they have a big pyramid there and I lost that footage it was soooo annoying the QLR stands for the queens Lancashire regiment, it was my dads regiment, and he has a veterans charity and its one of theirs t shirts thanks for watching guys and speak to you soon x
