Hugh Jackman took a pay cut just so the film could be rated R. He wanted this to be the real Wolverine and his swan song for the character.

Colette, my sympathies. My brothers and I took our dad to see this in the theater. We needed a break from taking care of mom. She had dementia and my sister took care of her that day. This movie was just so heartbreaking, as we saw mom in Charles. Mom passed away three years ago. We are now taking care of dad…

Cried for iron man? That's insane, crying for a character that we knew would die to create a false sense of emotions. His death was more pointless than Pa Kent in Man of Steel but recieves zero backlash because it's the goofy comedic MCU. On the contrary this death although inevitable was handled masterfully by the script writers and director.

Logan got mad when he read that business card because it said *Alkali* Transigen. If you recall from X2, Alkali Lake is where Stryker and the Weapon X program grafted the adamantium to his bones. So Logan knew immediately that it was the Weapon X program all over again but hiding under a different name, and his past had once again come back to haunt him.

@12:40 my mother (70) took care of her sister (80) when she developed dementia, her sister constantly abused her verbally and even lashed out physically at my mom, but mom stuck by her right up until her sister died the following year. At the funeral mom was very upset, 1) because her sister had just died, but 2) mom was upset at herself because she felt relief that her sister finally found peace and both of them did not have to go thru the suffering anymore. It was then i realized how hard it must have been for mom over the past year, and i made a solemn promise to myself to be there for her in the same way if she ever became a victim of dementia.... i just pray i am as strong as her.

Keep in mind when watching this movie Logan is not canon to the other Fox X-Men film continuity. This film takes place in an alternate timeline that was created after the events of Days of Future past. Iron Man Captain America both kill people. Spider-Man the only one who doesn't kill people but he has killed alien creatures. You should also know the adamantium does not run through Laura's entire body it only in her hands and feet. That's why Laura had to pull the bullet out with her teeth because the bullet got stuck in a bone in her arm. If you're wondering why Logan is going by James howlett that is his real name. If you don't remember in the wolverine movie his death was predicted. Logan would be lying down covered in blood holding his own heart in his hand.

Wolverine also has a more military view of situation just like Steve and Tony but Tony has a better capacity to kill through his technology. Steve can kill easier due to his self-righteous view of the world and his justification to kill when he deems it necessary which means Steve can kill easier than wolverine due to the fact that when wolverine kills one thought goes to his mind. Is his killing necessary because he's the best and what he do or is killing who Logan is because he's not very nice.

A piece of information in the comics, Logan killed a bunch of x-men and heroes while being under a spell of mysterio … he was in a friendly base, instead of seeing friends he saw some villains and thought they had killed his friends so he went and attacked them one after the other… (but it was his friends x-men and hero’s) when he came back to himself he saw all the corpse of his friend that he just killed… he coudnt take it and tried to end is life… he pitted is head on a train rail and waited for the train to only survive it… as in the movie Charles killed many x-men and heures and people too due to is mental and physical illness … that’s what is supposed to come before the movie … (if I remember right they thought of doing it in the movie but it was a bit to heavy for a begening) that’s why Charles say Logan what have you done ! What have you done in the begening… and we learn it in the radio for Charles…

A great example of adapting the comics. And also how to end a character's story.

You can look at it however you want. For me Wolverine got to have a special moment with Lara feel what it’s like to have a family Love connection and now he is at peace.

These types of themes and stories are what keep a lot of people engaged with comic books in adulthood. Yes the superhero happy positive stuff still resonates but these kind of "dark", gritty themes are 100% grounded in the way the world actually works

Don't know if you know yet, but that old Western movie is "Shane." This movie seems to borrow quite a few themes from it. It is one of the greatest westerns ever made, my father loved the hell out of that movie.

The film she quotes that they watched earlier is Shane (1953). In the film a world weary gunslinger trying to escape his past helps a widow and her young son defend their home from men who want to take her land. The story seems cliché today but Shane was one of the early films to introduce that trope. In the film the son idolizes Shane's life as a gunslinger while Shane tries to discourage the boy from a life of violence. Shane gives the speech Laura quotes, after the final fight, severely wounded he rides into the sunset while slumped over in his saddle. To this dat film scholar debate whether or not he dies as he ride off. So that scene she quotes has a much deeper relevance if you know the details of Shane.

I absolutely love that this movie caught you off guard! Hahah. This one is the last one in the timeline, I think? And there are several other movies between X-2, which I think is what you last watched, and this. But having said this, loved the reaction!!! Again, it was kind of cool that you weren't expecting this sort of film. Amongst the ones you haven't watched yet are Wolverine: Origins and The Wolverine, which are more like anyone would expect a wolverine superhero movie to be. Great palate cleanser for the sadness probably! Objectively worse movies than Logan though, what a trip.

If Disney had made this film, it wouldn’t have had nearly the same impact as this masterpiece. Yes it’s raw and heavy, but that’s what made it memorable and separates itself from the rest/other superhero movies.

56:14 I know this movie seems kinda dark, but this is how the comic books really were, like the movies are really watered down for kids and families, but it was made for like teens and young adults who thrive on violence and trauma, i mean drama (do I?)

Logan's main concern was keeping Xavier safe. Through Laura you have a glimpse of what a young Logan would have been like.

Dafne Keen aka Laura aka X23 was asked if she is going to be in the Deadpool and Wolverine movie. She said no but it wouldn't be the first time an actor lied about being in a movie. It would be cool if she joined the Young Avengers. She's been in a few movies and shows. Most recently The Acolyte.

Dafe Keen really delivered an Oscar-worthy performance in this - her debut movie. Her facial expressions were so nuanced that even with only little speaking lines, she was able to show masterfully all the spectrum of emotions a raging, confused but ultimately innocent child - who just happened to be a god-level mutant.
It's too bad she was not able to continue as X23 in follow up movies. Maybe Deadpool will change the minds of Disney executives..

1:11:53 Collette, if you remember from the wolverine 2013 where he goes to Japan... Yukio tells Logan about his death.
She said, "You were holding your own "heart". Yukio was right. Logan was holding his daughter❤ hand

  • @pygmalion137
    @pygmalion137 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Logan's death scene is the fulfillment of Yukio's prophecy about his death: "I saw you lying on your back, there's blood everywhere, and you're holding your heart in your hand." Before this movie, most people think it's literal heart that he's holding but in this movie it's clear that the heart is a metaphor for Laura, his daughter, as he's holding her hand when he dies.

Not all movies have to be happy, some movies are just an experience of another life, even if I prefer them. I feel like these movies are better I can only watch them once or twice but I learn much more in watching them.

No lie. At the theater this older gentleman had a panic attack or an heart attack. They had to stop the movie at the scene where Logan was burying professor x. The medical people came in and served the older man and then they were in the process of taking him. And he was yelling at the people saying “leave me! I am not leaving without finishing the movie god damn it” 🤣 he was trooper. After they got him out of the building, the restarted the movie for us and eventually the next few days the older man came back to finish the movie and the theater didn’t charge him lol.
