Miss America 1991 -- Crowning
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 10 มิ.ย. 2006
- One of the most beautiful crownings EVER in my opinion. Enjoy!
4th -- Linnea Marie Fayard (LA)
3rd -- Suzanne Lawrence (TX)
2nd -- Dana Brown (TN)
1st -- Mary Wadell Gainey (SC)
WINNER -- Marjorie Judith Vincent (IL) - บันเทิง
I actually got to me Marjorie during her year of service. She was such a sweet young woman. I wish the pageant would return to this format. We got to see the top 10 perform in all phases of the live competition, and it was wonderful. There was a air of surprise to the show. But I can't say enough about what a wonderful Miss America Marjorie was. TV does not do her justice...what a beauty!
There are some who were stunned by this win by Marjorie, but good word has it that she dominated the private interview and won talent overall, and she looked elegant and spoke well on stage that night..she was a clear winner.
Why
Because she was black 🖤
What a stupid comment I watched it 1991 September she deserve it period 😮 facts 💯
Thank you for this video! We never get to see much of Marjorie Vincent. I got teary eyed!
Two sisters back to back!
Shy maury Affirmative Action?
@@NickNicometi No Miss Illinois had the best talent in all Miss America
They were sisters? I never heard that sisters won back to back.
@@dorieann64 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦
Blaq 2 Blaq winners! Awesome show of skill and smart and class! Beauty from within reigns always! She won talent hands down! Luv this girl!
what a gorgeous lady. Miss Illinois.
I'm 69 years old, and what made the Miss America show and contest was Bert Parks. No one could sing that song like him. They took him off the show, I'm not sure what year, but supposedly because he was too old. They show was never the same again, and I think most people just stopped watching it after they took Bert off. He was an Icon, just like Bob Barker was to the Price is Right. He was not too old.
That was great! This was a special night that I'll never forget. Thanks for this.
I love this!
It's great.
The crowning moment is always the most exciting part of the pageant! I just love the song There She is Miss America! It was really nice how they brought Bert Parks back to sing it again. I used to always imagine that I won the title of Miss America and I got that song seranded to me...lol! I guess that wouldn't be happening anymore being I'm almost too old to be in the pageant now!
My cousin is so beautiful. No wonder she was Miss America.
thanks Jasuzu for having, and posting this.
Marjorie Judith Vincent was my favorite Miss America. She was of true African American descent. She was so smart and beautiful and talented. I remember people kept saying how smart she was. She was going to be a lawyer or something. I remember one African American woman winning Miss America passing the crown down to another African American Woman to hold the title. After all these Black women were winning they got rid of the Miss Black America Pageant. No need for it. Thanks.
One of the best Miss Americas in a very long time...she was true class
Also, Rest in Peace Suzanne Lawrence, Miss Texas.
" Wonderful Miss América ...
One of my all time favorite Miss America's!
Bert Parks sung the last There She Is to Marjorie Judith Vincent
Miss Illinois.
Ding ding!!!!
@@jessestewart169 you're correct
Majorie Judith Vincent was crowned Miss America on the pageant's 70th anniversary so having Burt Parks serenade her as she walked that wonderful runway was most appropriate.
Before he is with Walt!
My favorite Miss America contest because it marked the first time in pageant history that a black woman crowned another. Truly historic. Marjorie was a gifted pianist and spoke eloquently about her platform of domestic violence against women during the contest. The feat would be later repeated in 2003 with Erika Harold and Ericka Harris. But, this one is truly memorable with the bonus of the late Bert Parks serenading Marjorie down the runway. Classic.
...Excuse me, it's Ericka Dunlap, not Harris.
And with Carole Gist being the 1st AA Miss USA, 1990 was a banner year in pageant hostory.
Her ethnicity is Haitian and her Nationality is American [Born].
She is so beautiful
I don't understand why they were stunned, it was clear that she was the best overall in Talent as well as in Onstage Interview during Evening Gown. I think people were stunned because it was a "back to back" Black win.
Oh and I have to make the comment that classical beauty looks different in every culture...in my culture she is a classic beauty...America must have been so proud to have such a talented, intelligent, and gorgeous woman reign that year.
Yes, thanks for the correction
Colon cancer. She went public about her battle many years after her service as Miss Texas.
What a stunning woman
had to watch because she went to my high school
Flowers for Dolans She came to mine too.
Miss Fayard now anchors at KTBS. She also sings very well. I know her nephew.
Jasuzu, do you have the full crowning moment of Debbye Turner? If so, could you please post it? Thnaks!
It's on youtube. You can just search Miss America 1990 Crowning.
The winner is haitian born. Thats the only reason why im proud and so is the vincent family to have her in their family!!
I would love to see a video of Marjorie playing the piano in the talent competion.

Holy shoulder pads......
proof that some things have changed-hallelujah
What do you see as the good changes? I think this was gorgeous! My favorite crowning.
can anyone post phyllis george's crowning? i know that its very memorable.
It was a great way for Gary and Burt to go out!
Rest in Peace Gary (and Bert)
......And Gary's wife, Mary Ann Mobley, Miss America 1959.
+Juliaflo
Mary Ann Mobley...Miss America 1959...the year I was born. She remained a beautiful and talented and great personality all of her life.
Miss America 1971, Phyllis George passed away in May 2020 at the age of 70.
Also rest in peace lovely Phyllis George
it was bert's last opportunity to sing the miss american song, cause he died just a few months later on february 2, 1992.
I live in Illinois
She's was only a law student...and part of one of the most popular shows of all times...nauhhhhh, she probably wouldn't know who he is.
@missohio83 quickly I must share this with you! I have a huge love for the state of Ohio. My Alma Mater is the honorable Bowling Green State University. I am a Native of New York. I also love Pagaents, competed myself one of my very great friends from my Alma Mater is Becky Minger, who was Miss Ohio America 2010. Sadly she didnt place last year and my State representive (Claire Buffie-Miss NY America 2010 did) I have to tell you I am hoping for the year When NY or OH take the crown!
RIP Phyllis George.
It may interest you to know that 2014 marks the centennial of the birth of Bert Parks (ne Bertram Jacobson, lest you are interested).
1:54--Go to Marjorie Vincent Miss America and Cynthia White Miss America to see why these two ladies are prime example of what happens when you set aside an hour a day for practicing music.
Parece que tuvieran 100 años !
Bert Parks voice is the best of the whole show
@Parker528 No, I'm not. I'm just a big fan of pageants and happen to be from Ohio lol! =)
What she up to now?
I agree, I'm so upset that they have altered the pageant and minimized the glamorous aspect. Pageants are about sophistication, poise, and class... It is a celebration of positive womanhood and femininity. I always wanted to compete in Miss America system, but since they've changed it, I've renegged. It's sad.
You're welcome.
Yes she is Haitian
Haitian american=African american=Black=American....y'all need to stop it!The girl is classic beauty. This is the perfect example of the most talented contestant winning a talent contest...remember beauty contests are miss USA and Miss Universe
I second that. Besides, I don't think the Miss America Pageant has any business in Las Vegas. Bring it back to Atlantic City.
*sigh* i used to sit up and watch this the last weekend in September every flippin year.
The have gone and bastardized one of the great AMERICAN institutions. Its a PAGEANT..its supposed to be all big fluffy and glittery...thats what Pagentry IS. Now they got it station hopping and shaved down to like what 90 min? ugh! I miss this show...soooo sad. especially bc the year i could actually afford to go see it, it switched to frikkin nashville
what really angered me, is that this year, they had the gall to use a recording of bert singing it and unless i'm mistaken isn't it traditional for the ACTUAL HOST to serenade the winner?
@Garland - Miss New York 1991, Marisol Montavo, was of Hispanic descent.
Marisol is of Puerto Rican descent and now is an accomplished opera singer performing around the world.
I think that the lovely fox news anchor Shannon Bream was Miss Virginia in this pageant...
"""You know I have always thought I recognized her from from somewhere else just couldn't place her...✨👍😄 LOL ✨
Great pagent
Floyd
aww honey you should just go for it...I bet you'll have fun!...and theres a ton of other pageants too...you can enter pageants forever now!...and you never know I might watch you getting crowned on TV!
Is this Bert's last appearance?
Yes, he passed away in 1992.
I think you mean Ericka Dunlap, not Harris.
@Mrfamu96 you do know Haitian is African right????
I agree. I just don't understand how MAO continues to get that wrong. I felt like the pageant look too much like the Miss USA pageant this year. That contest is all about becoming a spokes model. The glamour just wasn't there this year. And how could they do anyway with the traditional long runway. That's the most disappointing of all.
That was so nice how they brought Bert back to sing that song! The pageants just aren't the same without him!
Hatian? i though it was suppose to be miss america?
I’m here because of Kim of queens
Too bad the pageant has been taken off of broadcast television. And worse still, they don't have that long runway.
NO SHE IS NOT HAITIAN BORN!!!! Her parents immigrated from Cap Lutien, Haiti, and she is the oldest of their 6 kids born IN THE US. Just because one is OF Haitian descent does not mean they were actually born there; this is not a new concept. Have I helped clear this up for you?
I think this is miss America 1990
No, this was Miss America 1991. The pageant was in September 1990.
@@smith4496 oh sorry! That’s right
What's so "odd" about that? African-American, Hatian-American, Italian-American, we all ORIGINATE from somewhere!
pretty but she received a luke warm reception
Both hosts of this show have died.
Miss Texas, Suzanne Lawrence died in 2003 from colon cancer at the age of 34. Bert Parks died in 1992 at the age of 77.
She Haitian
woo go miss louisiana :D lol
Go out and meet your subjects 😆
I don't think the winner has a clue who Bert Parks is.
mark pope Not at all.
Yes she did then and still does. Her reaction is called shock.
Im sure she does.
is it me or do all the blonds look the same?LOL Yeah a black miss America Like that :)
Did you see that White woman in pink in the audience , she was MAD AS HELL!!!
I don't know if it's the VHS blurry tape but I'm sorry she's far from pretty. Vanessa Williams she ain't. All the blondes looked gorgeous. SMH.
@ On September 8th 1990 when I watched on Television and Now on Computer Miss Marjorie Judith Vincent was the Winner early in the Pageant! IMO.
Neither one are good examples of black beauty.
+Talented Tenth just not them.
She's was only a law student...and part of one of the most popular shows of all times...nauhhhhh, she probably wouldn't know who he is.
