Looks like Anglo has nicely presented parts.

G'day Lance - they really do, and they're nice people too. 😉

Hello Gordon, another good video with Oscar helping. The debate regarding painting or not painting the inside of the cover is interesting. If the paint does peel/flake the debris will get into the hydraulic system and cause some grief. If the inside area being painted is acid washed it may allow the paint to adhere better by removing any oil/grease imbedded in the casting. White vinegar is a mild acid that can be neutralized with baking soda mixture and the area wiped down with methyl hydrate. I would not use an aggressive acid because the cover might be magnesium alloy. I believe "red oxide primer" was used for the inside the transmission/differential case. You could also investigate having the area powder coated, which may be going too far and expensive. That is my two cents worth of arrogant opinion. TTFN/CDC

Hi Charles, thank you for this info. Red Oxide is used and it works well as you say the secret is in the prep work. As I look back on this I think we probably should have gone this route. Maybe we’ll open it up again. It’s not that much of a job now that everything is freed up! 😉👍

All coming together very nicely Gordon. Just remember, once a bolt has been tightened to the correct torque, it will have stretched. So if using used bolts, torque setting are quite frankly irrelevant. All they need to be is tight, which can easily be felt without a torque wrench.

Hi Malcolm - ah but you're jumping ahead. 😉I was going to cover this in the next video or two (depending how things work out) I have all new bolts, because the originals were quite badly corroded, to the point that on some I had to use a smaller size socket to get a decent grip on them.
