I would like to say something; 1st,Gigi can sing all this songs as like the original songs, but her musical director says NO coz they want it to be interesting. I mean Filipinos loves songs like BETTER DAYS and how she can all make us all sob if she went with the original version. But instead her musical director gives us something that conveys the song meaning and putting their own touch to it. SO a big shout out to her band and to her musical director. 2nd, Gigi's tone and her voice clarity. How you can hear every word and express each one of it even in rap part or fast part. plus the level of comfort while making it. I know that western people loves beats and composition of songs but Filipinos love lyrics and meaning of songs that is why we love songs in the 80's and 90's that even in this young generation they are aware and knows how to sing it because songs like those are every where, radios, television, malls etc

Hello Richard and Johnny, 2 legends and an honor to be listening to your reviews/evaluations on different artists especially artists from the Philippines. I was born in the Philippines and now residing in the States for over 20 years. It's been awhile (a long long time) since I have listened to Filipino music artists and a month ago, I decided to google OPM (Original Pilipino Music) R&B/Hip-Hop artists and it brought me to this 107.5 Bus. and a Wish USA bus as well. Hmmm... Listening to the different Filipino artists just blew my mind and was so so humbled listening to different talented and amazing singers of different genres. And finally got to Gigi de Lana and listened to her version of Sailing and bad girl (in a good way) lol Unholy ... Blew my mind, and the range and change of her notes wow.... even when seated she can reach those high notes as well. Amazing. Such a pleasure. The band is also so entuned to her. stay safe guys... ✌

This is the best cover of "Unholy" because it captures the 90s goth rock-esque. Very reminiscent of Marilyn Manson type of genre but I love how you referenced the The Tea Party because YES! Funny lots of Filipinos bashed her when this was released They were shocked from ballads , RnB , jazz and to this A rock was shocking to them And oh boy her movements too was too much for them Guess older consevstive supporters were not happy And she was bashed to the max , for me in the beginning was shocked but a good one Amazed she can do this too 😂 I was happy actually and realized , she’s really a good artist ❤
When this came out I also played the whole track over and over again in a month until I was satisfied already and now I only listen to it once in a while. You are not alone.... I really loved this cover and yes this is more meaningful than the original. it is a more fitting approach.

Gigi sings the best of 80’s and 90’s…In the 80’s we were big in Jazz music as well…like the “Better days” by Dianne Reeves.
So we can never say a singer is best vocalist because its subjective and personal preference. But Facts > knowledge and execution of vocal techniques none can compare to Gigi. Singing articulation of words top notch. You can understan each word of the lyric even if you are hearing the song for the first time.
