Hi Rozette, I love your reaction videos of Gigi, as a fellow Filipino ill give you a glimpse to our culture and how someone like Gigi has this tremendous amount of music vocabulary. One main reason is karaoke! Funny as it seems but a big percentage of our country loves karaoke and majority of that can really sing. We also have variety TV shows that all singers do is sing these types of songs. We all watch it growing up. Lastly we have a lot of bar and restaurants that have live bands that have talents just like GGs band. But GG in her creativity and talent represents the best of Filipinos. Hopefully this helps a bit.

It's normal for Filipinos to know thousands of songs. No exaggeration. From my own childhood I know 60's, and 70's from my father's collection. That includes some Spanish songs. Then being born in the 80's I know 80's and 90's. I naturally got into jazz, too, because my ear was developed. It's totally normal for FIlipinos, believe it or not. The size of the OPM (Original Pilipino Music) catalog is also no joke. It's the most musical and multi octave native music, I think, in the world.
I think when an artist is good at their craft that is something, but when another compliments another artist that tells me that you're a great artist as well.

filipinos loves music. i remember as a kid in a province every home would always plays music in the morning. and that they always brag or sometimes show off their stereo or radio that sounds good. and on fiesta or any events the karaoke is always present in every house. thats how the music circles every filipino from kids to grown-ups. you will amaze kids can sing songs way old than grandmother and much better because of that karaoke.

When they started a few years ago during covid, Gigi and the Band were really poor and struggling to even put food on the table. Their main income as wedding singers dried up and Gigi's mum needed cancer treatment, so they worked with the guy over the road from Gigi house who had some recording equipment in his garage (Tritone Studios) and started these live streams. The whole band lived together in one house to save money and comply with Covid regulations and that's why they are so tight as a group.
She began her journey (age 16) as a wedding singer alongside the father of Gigi Vibes' former guitarist. It's no wonder she has an extensive repertoire of songs, as they always come prepared with a folder full of options for the clients to choose from. Interestingly, these songs are also commonly found in the karaoke collections of Filipino households.

Music is definitely a part of the majority of the Philippines but not everyone can sing like this artist Gigi as d other singers. This requires training, consistency and discipline, so happy that they get exposure and recognition through social media. 👍
I think in the Philippines it comes natural to know a lot of songs it’s part of life to be singing all the time even when you’re doing the laundry or dishes and we used to collect song books and listen to the radio most of the time where the most old ballads are repeated on the daily.

basically we grow up with the fm radio9 and the neighbors radio in our daily chores the radio as our background music, and all no.1 Hit songs were all familiar to almost anyone, so regardless of age or year when you were born you wil definitely hear this well known songs,

I guess u should also react to her singing competition days on live television. The show is called "tawag ng tanghalan" . Eventhough she didnt make it to the finals, she still left some great performances.

I knew about Gigi way back when she joined TNT years ago - a singing competition of a noontime show in PH. I believe she used to carry her real name before which is Gidget dela Llana, so you can check her performances too if you like. She was and still one of my faves and I’m proud with the amount of appreciation she is getting, esp from pro reactors like you.
Gigi has been competing since she was a kid so she already has a repertoire at a young age. Being in an band exposed her to other genres as well as songs from the 60s to 90s, that's why she knows so many songs.

These kind of songs is always played in the philippine radio station. Which make us new generations know about those songs. Radio is still popular here and most of the songs played are 50s 60s 70s 80s thats why we're familiar. And that's also the reason she just reads the lyrics while singing.
Gigi is a typical Filipino singer who is highly skilled because most Filipino singers :
1) started singing at an early age (like 3 yrs old)
2) they emulate power vocalists,local and international divas
3) sings the most challenging songs in karaoke and used them as their contest or audition pieces
4) join A LOT of singing contests or become veterans of singing contests even at a young age
5) prefers LIVE singing than studio recording
