    This is a great example of why you need to have several scripts in your repertoire BEFORE you try to make a pitch. It shows that you aren't just a one-off writer, that you have experience in the process and that there are other things that you have written that might be adaptable to the other person's needs.

    • @DDavis-mi2cg
      @DDavis-mi2cg 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Bull, I disagree. A writer may have the purpose to write one great story. It is worth reading and watching the golden nuggets of some one-offs. Ever read and watched Margaret Mitchell's Gone With The Wind?

      @@เวสลีย์หวัง yes, you can! Depends on the type of access you have... smart writers don't write everything on spec. They workout the timeline, write the logline, treatment and work on the script while out pitching it... ideally, you should get a commitment of sorts before you commit to finishing it. Whether, in the form of an advance, option, etc..

    There’s a tip I got online and it’s stuck with me say a project I want to make in the future is summarised in the sentence:
    “When the biggest competition takes place you’ll need teamwork to qualify, but there’s a slip in the rulebook and so, betrayals and backstabs galore.”
    You need to be able to summarise your movie/show idea in one sentence

    (Just commenting without really watching or listening to the interview) i just wonder..about how a..pitch..would sound like that is about an indie movie..a romance, family theme or whatever..where all the actors don’t know the script..but has to show their willingness to understand it..and you see it all appear in front of you..I mean.. (well I might continue on this, getting kind of distracted..idk)
    - one thing is that it has to be something where they occasionally read up from their “lines” and maybe even tells what the others have to say (repeating each other)
    - has to be a movie (that includes the movie-like feeling)
    - adjusted width maybe, filtered light..
    - doesn’t have to be one of those experimental movies with long dialogues (that tend to be too “nerdy”)

    I have an autobiographic feature where "Jeffrey" where the movie is broken down into 3 ages, 6, 13 age 19, Jeffrey goes through domestic abuse, getting into trouble with thieft, drugs and alcohol, eventually leading up to attempted suicide dealing with paranoia from LSD trips. I would like to pitch to producers with hopes of a more professional production. Runtime is at 1:10min and is nearly complete, Audio/video is very presentable. Im a sound engineer as well so I paid close attention to this as well.
    I completely went off script due to myself being the living script, as well as directing, shooting and editing the entire movie, so therefore, I do not have an accurate script. Would the movie and Trailer be something I can pitch that producers would watch instead of reading a script.
    My story also went on national tv in 2010 where a 6min documentary was done. Would this also be something I should throw in with Trailer and Movie in emails?
    Also not sure where to make contacts with producers online, any advice would be great!
