I think every great show has its penultimate season if it runs long enough. Season 4 of B99 was incredibly entertaining (the Witness protection storyline, the Night Shift effect, the Judy tie-in to the hostage escape, Moo-Moo, Holt's Mom etc.) but Season 5 definitely hit differently. On a rewatch, I love how they didn't overplay Jake and Amy's engagement throughout the season - allowing the other characters to breathe more in the roles and providing the emotional connection the squad had built over the years (as mentioned in the video) to flow through.

Would you please include the name of those shows (like a little name on the corner) when you play their 1 second clip for references in your videos (like you used HOUSE M.D. clip but other shows i didn't recognise)
Not to be that person, but you could totally tell the writers had to change a lot of things for Rosa to come out as bi. And not just that she had only ever exclusively dated men up until that time either. But I dont think anybody cared about that, the change that killed it for me was when she quit the NYPD to become a PI. Like really? She just told Holt and Gina that PI's were "pathetic hacks" just a season or 2 before. How hard is it for writers to keep track of what they've written? It's not like its been recorded or anything.
I saw it more as the character evolving throughout the series. Not everyone has the ability to express who they were and a lot can be said to hide who you really are. With Holt becoming her Captain, and the general vibe of the precinct changing since Captain McGintley was in charge she was able to come out to her co-workers and her parents finally. I can see how it can be taken as a copout, no pun intended, but I think the situation made sense for her as a character and an actor.
They actually forgot about Jake's transformation too that he was too cautious while going after suspects arresting them he himself said that him being wrongfully imprisoned changed his perspective yet in season 8 he goes after innocent guy and gets suspended in that process. In order to address current issues like police brutality they chose to ignore everything that happened before.
I like Season Eight for the most part, but at times it felt like they were pandering to the ACAB crowd. It was like they were ashamed of their own show.
Season 5 was decent but I think 3 was the best. Honestly the first 3 seasons were incredible. We saw characters grow into who we would come to love. The show went off a cliff after season 5. Every character becomes a caricature of themselves and their personal journeys don't seem to matter anymore. They began pushing a lot of politics, I know it's always been somewhat political and they did it in a great way for the first 4/5 seasons, but it came off as preachy and oftentimes unrelated to the plot. Also Jake and Amy's argument about parenthood was handled so poorly I think it alienated a lot of people. Overall, it is still one of my favourite shows and I still quote it daily.
AS much as I loved seasons 6-8, what really gripes me is that NBC introduced bleeped swear words. This really throws me off as it has never occurred once in season 1-5, and then it seemed to be every 5 minutes that it would happen. Other than that, they kept it remarkably true to FOX's rendition of the show.
I’ll have to give this show another try. I watched the first season when it started and while I liked it, I never quite got hooked to it like Parks and Rec or The Office.
I love every season of B99 except season 8, that felt very dark compared to the rest and for obvious reasons, not to mention with Rosa leaving the whole dynamic was changed.
@@Nerdstalgic for me I feel like they got everything right that they had to (the finale, the birth of their child, etc) but the average episode quality decreased, especially in the last two seasons.
I don't hate season 6 & 7 I actually mainly watch it for Jake but I couldn't watch season 8 even for him especially how they ended his character he was brilliant detective in earlier seasons he never did as stupider thing like going after wrong guy and him then deciding to quit the 99 which was basically his entire life I know baby is important but why sacrifice your dream career I know they want to give message that dads can be full time take carers still it would have been great atleast he got an opportunity to work for FBI I was looking forward for him to realise his dream but they just did him dirty everyone got to pursue their dream jobs except Jake so unfair
@@Shreya.m371 Disagree with that statement, I think you missed the point. Jake spent his entire life as a cop to distract himself from anything else going on in the real world, using it as a distraction, but over the show his life got good enough that he no longer needed that distraction, able to let go of his passion, being fulfilled with the life he has.

I still remember when I first heard about the show being picked up again because I was just so confused since I hadn't heard that it had been cancelled yet. I was a bit late lol But I have a good excuse this all happened during finals week so it was chaotic
Damn Chris rocks dad took on another job
7:32 was personal 🤣
Yes i said it, AND I MEANT IT !
The last season was rough imo.
I 100% percent agree season 5 is the best and it would have been sooo sad if it got cancelled especially after season 5's cliffhanger
Would you please include the name of those shows (like a little name on the corner) when you play their 1 second clip for references in your videos (like you used HOUSE M.D. clip but other shows i didn't recognise)
Hey @nerdstalgic are you the same voice from some of the TED Ed videos?
Crazy how season 5 was when it got canceled but netflix only has up to season 4
@@hatefuleightyseven2962yeah lol. Always a bad idea to pander to those that are never happy.
Rosa coming out as bi, then leaving to become a PI, were both so incredibly unnecessary changes to the show.
It is almost the perfect series
I can sit down and binge watch it, only skipping as few episodes
Loved almost all of B99, all except the final season. Season 5 was great tho.
Don’t forget that the master piece Last Man on Earth was canceled to and did not get picked up 😢
AS much as I loved seasons 6-8, what really gripes me is that NBC introduced bleeped swear words. This really throws me off as it has never occurred once in season 1-5, and then it seemed to be every 5 minutes that it would happen. Other than that, they kept it remarkably true to FOX's rendition of the show.
I’ll have to give this show another try. I watched the first season when it started and while I liked it, I never quite got hooked to it like Parks and Rec or The Office.
if only umbrella academy could have gotten the same generosity as it deserved, as bb99 did
I love every season of B99 except season 8, that felt very dark compared to the rest and for obvious reasons, not to mention with Rosa leaving the whole dynamic was changed.
Did someone new take over this channel at some point? Why did the voice change so much a few years ago?
Missed spelled "Fan" as "Can" in description
A near perfect season of a sitcom. I love this show, it's a shame that the seasons after it dropped in quality so significantly.
I still really enjoyed the NBC seasons personally.
I love the show also in either six or seven season there’s an episode where Raymond Holt goes absolutely mad. I love it if anyone can tell me which one that is I would appreciate it.
Is that the Johnathan Wicks episode your talking about?
They took the wrong FLUFFY BOY!!!
S6 was pretty good too , best season is imo is season 6 and 5
